  1. I agree. At some point you cant make any more excuses for the guy. Simply, whatever team hes on tends to not get it done when it matters most. I think you have to look at the common denominator (aka Manning)

2 Ints don't put 42 points on the board.

Even if the Broncos scored on every possession, they still would have loss.

Again, this is a team game. Seattle came to win.

  2. Could have won, Stephen. If they punt and Flacco wins it with a FG, Peyton would still be blamed. That is just how it is.

This. It's always been this way for Manning. It's all or nothing. If he wins, he's as great as everyone thinks he is. If he loses for ANY reason, he's a choker, "can't win the big one," etc.

Such a predictable thread and reaction...

    Yawwwwwn

Yup. Gotta love the Colts fan forum. Bunch of people patting themselves on the back about Peyton losing so they can feel better about letting him go. Peyton or no Peyton, when a player leaves your team, you should always wish the best for them(assuming they weren't a troublemaker or anything like that.). It was great to see the former Colts, Manning, Tamme and Stokley preform well. Sad to see them lose. I hope Manning can get one more ring before he's done assuming he doesn't cross the Colts in the playoffs.  :blueshoe:

It's funny because on the Denver forums and many other none team specific forums, people are you know analyzing the whole game(I know, crazy.) and not putting all the blame on Peyton's game sealing interception. The 2 main points that I see being discussed is John Fox's conservative play calling and the secondary. The better team won tonight and I'll emphasize "team" as it certainly does require a team effort to make it to the Super Bowl.

  3. Seriously though...Peyton is a horrible post season quarterback...there is NO QB I'd rather take in the regular season over Manning...(maybe Luck...well because Colts are my team)...but seriously...when it comes to post season...ugh..the BRONCO'S fans now know what the COLTS fan do :(

He has a Super Bowl win. That's more than what many quarterbacks have.

Again, I disagree with this game being Peyton's fault. In the past, it was DEFINITELY Peyton's fault. I remember those horrible games against the Patriots and that playoff game against the Chargers. All those losses were primarily Peyton's fault. However, he's also gotten better since then. He's more patience now and generally doesn't try to force passes as much. Peyton in general plays better during the 2-minute drill.

So while he did contribute to this lost, he played a solid game. He even gave his defense a chance to seal the deal. Bad play calling and poor defensive play is ultimately what loss them the game. Peyton's pick at the end was just the icing on the cake.

    EDIT: TEBOW CURSE!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Did the D not keep the game competitive? Did they not give Manning two chances in overtime?

The poor defensive is the reason the game even went to overtime in the first place. You rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage and somehow you let a guy still get wide open.

  5. Didn't you see that game with an identical story played by the Steelers and Bengals...how did the Steelers gamble turn out???? NOT SO GOOD RIGHT?

Seriosuly...go for it with 38 seconds and two time outs on your side of the field...especially when Peyton has the post-season record he does.

Yea, because that record is obviously are going to change if you don't give them a chance. /sarcasm It's not like he's lead a team to the Super Bowl before. /sarcasm

Peyton was specifically signed to lead this team to a Super Bowl. If you aren't going to let him do his thing, you're just wasting money. I'm not saying Peyton is going to play perfect every game, but he has shown than he can get it done and he's a future HoF because of it.

  6. Are some of you really trying to say this loss is because of Peyton? Really? Peyton was one of the contributing factors but overall, he played a solid game. The playcalling by John Fox was terrible and the defense was atrocious. The game should have never gone to overtime to begin with. And even before overtime, you kneel the ball with 30 secs left on the clock, 2 timeouts, with one of the most clutch quarterbacks in NFL history?

Sad.... The Ravens looked like the better team on both sides of the ball that game.

GG, another Super Bowl win for the Patriots.

  7. Luck will never be as good as Manning. Manning is a living legend and will go down as one of the greatest QBs of all time. Luck is literally walking in the shadow of a giant.

Now, I'm not saying Luck won't be a great QB as it's still too early to judge. However, it's too much wishful thinking to believe that he's going to be as great as Peyton.

Fortunately, you don't need to put up Manning level stats to win games. Winning is all that matters.

  8. I hope they are having second thoughts. The move can be summarized as, "Peyton, even though you've been good to us all these years, we don't think you can do this for much longer." Basically a slap to the face of Peyton. They basically acted like he had reached Brett Favre status and was holding the team back. I believe Peyton still has at least another 2-3 good years in him before he starts declining. And even when Peyton does begin to decline he'll still be an above average QB.

Peyton has proven time and time again that he is reliable but the organization decided to put their faith in a rookie instead. Maybe Luck will be the next Big Ben, maybe he will be the next Vince Young. Who knows? However, even if Peyton weren't able to return at his maximum strength, his understanding of the defense and the game in general is greater than any QB in the league. That's more valuable than a rookie imo and when Peyton is unable to play years down the line, what greater mentor could you want?

But oh well, that's in the past now. Even with Peyton I'm pretty sure we would have lost that opener today.

I expect the Colts to be the new Detroit Lions for at least 2 seasons.

  9. You're right. He doesn't do either. Thankfully he's good enough to make up for the massive amount of ineptitude on both O and D PLUS Special Teams and the worst coaching staff in the game. Good enough, in fact, to almost drag their worthless hides to a near perfect season.

(Probably WOULD have been perfect if we didn't roll over and die for the Jets - see worst coaching staff in the game.)

    I disagree somewhat.

Our team was horrible the year we won the Superbowl so yea I do agree that Peyton shouldered the load and got us to the playoffs. However, our defense played lights out throughout the playoffs. It really surprised me.

Edit: If we go 0-16 or even close to that, then yea, get rid of Caldwell.

  10. He's not a vocal anything... His attempt at the no-huddle should never be spoken of, or attempted again...

I mean it was legitimately "Benny Hill" level funny, but if this game had ever been competitive, it wouldn't be so funny.

    wth?

He did well with the no huddle up until the fumble.

He played bad but it was more of the offensive line's fault than his fault.

He had 3 chances to make a play this game.

He overthrew a guy, he fumbled, and he hit the guy right in the hands with one pass and the guy dropped the ball.

Every 3rd down play they blitz'd Painter hard. Our line could not stop them and our receivers could not get open. Even in the replays that they showed you could see that no one was open. That isn't Painter's fault. Even our receivers aren't playing with the will to win anymore.

  11. Because having an off season doesn't mean you deserve to be on the hot seat. If that was the case coaches would be fired constantly. You can only tell players what to do, you can't make them do anything. Whether the coach is quiet or yelling and screaming, that isn't going change that fact.

You also don't fire a coach of a team that consistently makes the playoffs.

I know a lot of you want to attribute that to Peyton, but Peyton isn't lining up on the offense alone and he isn't playing defense.

  12. It keeps the 10-15 yard completions on every pass in front of you. Doesn't matter if they can tackle or not. If they are getting 2nd and short or an outright first down on every pass play then like I said what's the difference? We very rarely play man and we've been running this cover 2 crap for so long that it's in-grained in our defense. And yes...it doesn't help that our offense can barely even get 1 first down...honestly I really don't see any difference between when Collins was in there and when Painter was in. Neither of them can get ANYTHING going. And our offensive line is truly offensive...injuries once again mount up.

Cover 2 or not, no one should be getting that wide open. That's a personnel issue, not a scheme issue.

Collins and Painters? Our line can't block. If Peyton was in there he would be getting hammered.

    Garcon can't catch the ball.

    Dallas Clark cannot run block.

I don't know whats up with Reggie.

They constantly blitz Painter yet we can't stop it nor can our receivers get open. Not that Collins and Painter are without fault because they are, but this whole offensive failure is a group effort.

Only people playing good are our RBs.
