  1. Peyton Manning is gone. Irsay is licking his chops to go in a new direction. Personally, I go with RG3 myself. Our new offensive line in a 3/4 may not be steady yet & as the pocket breaks down RG3 looks more mobile on his feet than Andrew Luck does. Plus, RG3 is incredibly accurate & he throws a nice tight spiral on the move in my estimation.

RG3 looks great on tape but the NFL is full of double threat QB's that go nowhere. Would hate to see a Michael Vick mirror image in Indy. Aaron Rodgers...pocket passer, Tom Brady...pocket passer, Eli Manning... pocket passer, even Ben Rothlisburger... pocket passer. nothing wrong with mobility, but would much rather see the prototypical QB in Indy. Unfortunately, until the check clears it isn't my team so we'll see. : )
  2. If healthy, I could really get behind the Colts keeping peyton trading the number 1 for multiple picks and drafting defense and a lights out receiver. There will be more QB's in future drafts or later rounds. Is Luck really the second coming? why? because football media have all but given him a superbowl. Luck looks great. sooooooo many QB's have looked great in college the solied the bed in the NFL. Was Aaron Rodgers a number one pick? Turned out pretty good with time to grow.

  3. Can't see how any contending team with a young, competitive , in place QB would even entertain the idea of replacing him with a veteran with 3 to 4 years left at best (if healthy). Peyton has the potential to put any team over the hump but Matt Schaub is good and in place. why pull ur future for a quick questionable fix. Huge fan of PM but don't see the Texans replacing Schaub and risk losing him then texans being in the hunt for another franchise QB in two years.

  4. Of course I agree that addressing issues with the team was necessary this yesr. I also agree that the coaching change (Pagano) with benefit the team. I guess I'm just rubbing the magic lamp when I say that both sides coming together to keep Peyton Manning on the team in some capacity would be necessary in maintaining the team and the fan base support. Peyton is the "comfort food" of the Indy fans. It's what we're used to. He's been the Leader, icon, answer for years. He took a struggling franchise and gave it signifigance. Plain and simple. Both sides need to realize this. Peyton legitimized the organization and Irsay will need to cont. this. In short, cutting Manning DOES hurt the horseshoe because it hurts the fans. w/o the fans, there is no team. If Peyton not healthy, retire and stay with the organization. If he is healthy, he's still relevant and should be held in higher regard than an unproven college QB. Once again the magic lamp..... Peyton healthy and redoes contract... plays for two or so years tutoring Luck or another.... transitions new QB... retires and is maintained by the team in a coaching capacity.

  5. So are you saying the team will never make money without Peyton? So in your opinion when Manning is done they should just sell the team and implode the stadium. We all love PM,but some of you act like this is a 28 year old QB with turf toe!!!

NO... simply saying that why cut ties with a proven option that has done more for the sport than almost any other QB in history. Don't u beleive that colts fans would embrace Luck if if PM had simply said "I'm ready to retire"? I'll always be a colts fan and hope for the best result. How many supporters do u think that PM brought to the game? I'll but more people could tell u who PM is than the vice president of the US. PM may as well be a 28 year old with turf toe. honestly, does he win with his athletics. NO? 95% of Peytons game has nothing to do with athletics. he wins with intelligence, timing and accuracy NOT speed, strength or agility. he could perform efficiently for the next 5-7 years. If he were to leave by his own choice and retire fans would accept it. If both parties agree, fans would accept it. we know by statements from PM that this isn't the case. Irsay has made statements about "not about the money" and "what gives us the best chance to win". If Irsay being up front with these comments and peyton cleared, he should remain a colt.
  6. I'm mot sold that we need a QB this year if PM should come back 100%. Not sure that I like RG3 and not sure that he'd be the prototypical passer that could learn to read defenses, change plays at the line, or run the no huddle. he strikes me as a michael vick that for the first 5 yrs in the NFL, abandoned the pass game and relied on his feet. Could be wrong. Sure to be more College QB talent coming out in the next 2 or 3 years. If Peyton is healthy, u gear up defense and receiving corps for one more run. Trade ur number one for multiple picks and use next two years to scout new or existing talent for PM eventual retirement.

  7. If Irsay is smart... 100% peyton's back

If Irsay stupid... 0% peyton's back

the Money made by every NFL is directly affected by the happiness of fans. Simple... True...

Media attention aside. If deemed healthy there should be no question that he return. Manning built ur kingdom Irsay. Look back at what u have without since 98. Ur the "Cleveland Raiders"

  8. Peyton has been tacky lately.

I know I hope this all makes Eli want to play the game of his life but if he loses or sucks Sunday night I might actually start to blame this ridiculous Peyton distraction hanging over him.

Peyton has a bigger ego then the Peyton fans realize.

If Eli loses it's because he sucked it up. Not because everones talkin bout my big bro. The interviews I saw he spent talking the city and team up very little was about him and the parts that were, were to shut the media up. seriously doubt if he's starting every interview with "lets talk about me"
  9. Just feel compelled to respond to this. I also agree that Indy and Irsay owe Peyton something. The right to exist in what he created. thats right. What he created. the thing that has seperated the colts from all other teams in the NFL is a strong sense of loyalty to their key players. Not jumping on the free agency train like the other teams that would drop players at the drop of a hat. PM had brought something to this town and city that has improved all lives. Business owner in Indy have said that "he" made Indy a football town. Colts fan? great for u. I am as well but more a fan of the what the colts are and stand for. again in large part to PM. The last thing I want to see are the colts turning into a steelers, a philadelphia, or an oakland where the only press their team gets is bad publicity of shootings, sexual assault etc. I'm a fan of colts football and what it is. Proud, loyal, up front and having personal integrity. I WILL NOT be blindly loyal to the "horse shoe" logo. I'm fan of the players and values behind it. The thought of a "James Harrison" or "Ndomakong Suh" penal system type player on this team would cause me to lose faith. Those two and those with the same "dirty" mentality wouldn't work in the system that "I" love. The fans make the team and the owner money. Make changes to the team and some players but keep the one working main ingredient in the stew>PM. The overwhelming majority say to find a way to keep peyton and the fans are the only reason ur job exists.

  10. Lets just break this down and call it what it is. Luck= untested college QB with zero NFL experience to back up thes superman claims. He may be a great someday. Colt McCoy or Matt Stafford may as well. we DONT know. colts need to get their legal team together and find a way keep PM and take the first pick. I would take a chance on luck in a heartbeat but to take a chance on losing the the heartbeat of the team and town i think would be ridiculous.

  11. I don't think the thread is pointless. I've asked myself the same thing. To question my loyalty to the the colts would be fightin' words but do you vote for the team or the man, who in my opinion, built it. In short, I'll always root for the Shoe but should the worst case scenario come to pass, I would definately also stand behind PM in every other game he played. Still hoping that through some form of slight of hand negotiating, Irsay and PM keep him on the team as well as save the cap. From interview yesterday, I feel 100% that he will play again and well and if it isn't for the colts it would be a huuuge tragedy. From commentators yesterday, to release him and resign would be a definately possibility and ideal for the owner, team, PM, and city.

  12. I think everyone agrees that eventually the Manning era is to be over. Does it have to be now? do we have to deal in absolutes? Manning or LUCK? the fact that were even saying Lucks name in the same sentence as Manning baffles the mind. I sure minds with alot more insite are working on these decisions as I am also sure that these same minds need to be taking "all" of PM into this decison ie Everything hes done here. All this contingent upon the physical. Lord be with PM and hoping that he returns to the colts as QB or some other capacity. Regardless, those of u Luck, Luck, Luckers, don't be so quick to Railroad PM out. U may get ur wish and Luck "may" be a bust. would ya be posting then?

  13. Wow, sour grapes. Rookies don't receive support from you? Seriously?

And how have the Colts neglected Manning? By making him the highest paid player in the NFL? By giving him the biggest assortment of weapons on offense than virtually any other team in the NFL? By allowing him to make adjustments and plays at the line?

    Wow.

Plays at the line and offensive freedom I agree with but from what I've read, he didn't end up being the highest paid player. his contract matched brady's not surpassed. I also don't beleive that he had a great assortment of offensive weapons. he had good receivers and some RB's but when was the last time the colts have boasted any rushing or receiing titles. Not busting on ur argument but just making a point that for many of his years, he made due with what he had all be it doing it well. What Peyton has received in the NFL as compared to othe players, he's deserved everything he's been given.
  14. Why would Manning want to be paid more in his later years? Any NFL player who knows he has a limited time left before hanging it up would want the money front loaded (which is what Manning has now). I know Manning already has enough $$$ in the bank but on the flipside I guarantee some other team out there will offer a lot more for Manning than the Colts will if he becomes a F/A.

I don't believe for some reason thats its about the Money. His yearly salary for endorsments I sure far out weighs his football salary. Peyton Manning may be one of the few in history that would care more about finishing what he started where he started than money. Time will tell but I can't imagine that PM would have rested his financial future on his last contract. I wouldn't see him haiving interest in leaving because even though he'd be in new system with new faces here, thats exactly what he would face on any other team x's 2 At leats here he'd have some familiarity here with players and some staff, home and community ties.
  15. its dream to be believe that any QB can play forever so I realize the the great PM also has to follow the same eventual path as every other NFL great. Retirement. Will it be this year? I hope not. a year or two behind behind PM would only help any "NFL ready" (LOL. no such thing) college QB. If he does decide to go, I hope its retirement and not free agency. Again I say that "he" deserves to Play in a place that he created. On another note, a new QB is sure to be in our future draft. I feel that any great QB needs to have the work ethic of manning. Has anobody ever heard any info on the work ethic of Luck or RG3. please discuss.

  16. A business is a business! Now for the truth. Makes me sick the lack of loyalty over all in the NFL. Continuity is so important to a team as well as familiarity. The greatest teams have always taken care of their players and supported a family environment.. Seems like only yesterday Irsay had his head so far into peyton saying he WILL retire a Colt and making him the highest paid player! What did Peyton do? he turned it down for the betterment of the team. Now, in a few short weeks Peyton is all but released. Really. thats what he gets after breathing life into lifeless team. After wanting to retire a Colt. Mr Irsay, get ur head outa ur *** and do the right thing for the team, the city, and the NFL. Give Peyton the choice. He not going to tell u he's healthy if he isn't or tell u he'll be ready if he won't! Pretty sad when he says that he doesn't recognize anything or body in the complex.

  17. All this talk about best way to run a franchise and smart "business" decisions. Prettty sure nobody is this forum has ever run and NFL franchise so nobody knows the implications of decisions. Manning should be catered to to a certain extent. Plain and simple. Look at what he's done Indy football not to mention the city and the tons of money he's made for irsay! If u completely gut an organization u take the chance of losing millions of dollars in fan base. Why, because people love their "team". Little transitions in personnel can be handled but if u completely dismantle an organization and not leave something in place ( Peyton Manning) the people relate too, ur taking the chance of losing thousands of fans. Work with Manning. If he should chose to "retire", so be it. I believe he's earned a little special treatment. "he" put indy on the map.

  18. May not be the popular opinion but I also think he would succeed as head coach. He has years of coaching experience and lets face it, he knows how to build, motivate and win. He proved that at Ohio State (apart from his questionable actions leading to his departure). He's innovative and if were just gonna hire from the vast pool of OC's and DC's from other NFL teams, why not? He's been with the franchise and knows the players. Could get him for a song so what do u have to lose. Every single possible hire ur taking a chance anyway.

  19. AAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet money that the active Colts fan base jumped a minimum of 30% in the Manning era. Why? because of Peyton Manning! no one else. If he came back at 75% he be better that 75% of the leagues QB's by decision making alone. I personally don't understan why any "college" superstar wouldn't fall in love with the chance to work under Manning for a couple years.

We dropped Harbaugh for manning years ago. Harbaugh a QB that actually took us to a conference tile game. We dropped him for Manning. We gambled and it paid off. a huge gamble! It paid off but do you really expect that gamble to pay off again just like that? Manning should be retained if for nothing else than his knowledge and how he's turned this city into a football town.

  20. First of all, how can you people, who call yourself an Indianapolis Colts fan, even speak about Peyton Manning playing quarterback in the National Football League for a team other than the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS.

Peyton Manning changed the sports landscape of this city from a die hard basketball town TO a city that bleeds blue and white and eats, drinks, breaths football, which has been the case for the last decade. Most of us still have a passion for basketball in our bones that will never go away, but even with that Peyton Manning still rules this city's sports heart!

No single player has ever impacted his team to the extent that Peyton Manning did to the Indianapolis Colts, in professional football. Peyton is responsible for the MILLIONS of Hoosiers, from all corners of the state, who tune in, every single Sunday the Colts play on, to watch the GREATEST QUARTERBACK TO EVER PLAY THE GAME. He is responsible for the ticket sales that made the RCA Dome to small of a venue, which in turn brought the oportunity to build a state-of-the-art truely magnificant facility for the Indianapolis Colts and the fans. As a current season ticket holder ill comment that Lucas Oil Stadium is a one-of-a-kind stadium and is a great experience for fans and the players seem to agree also. WELL WE HAVE PEYTON MANNING TO THANK FOR THIS PLACE!!!!! AND OWNER JIM IRSAY HAS PEYTON MANNING TO THANK FOR THIS CITY AND ALL OF INDIANA NOW BEING COLTS COUNTRY!!!!!!

Now having said all that, Who Wants to Win a SuperBowl Now? ME! I Want to WIN Feb. 2013 SuperBowl!! ill finish this part of the conversation in a different TOPIC with the just asked question as the title.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Being a PM fan is much more to me than following his football. His impact on the city and state but more importantly his football knowledge. His ability to breakdown defenses and find every weak spot would be invaluable to the team. Honestly, selfish as it may sound, If peyton should not be on the field for the colts next season, my pipe dream would be that he retire with his health and retain some coaching position with the colts. I'm sure irsay would welcome this, peyton would be where he started and would fans would love the idea of him staying in the house that HE built. OK God. are you listening? LOL

  22. Curtis Painter...He is due 500K

Kerry Collins... He is due 11 Million

Other than that I think we do keep Freeny and Mathis. I also think we should cut ties with Wayne, and Gonzalez.

Why wpuld we cut wayne> he been about the only team constant. Aging yes, finished no. Trade Garcon who's been about as consistent as oil prices, keep Wayne (on a short term deal and maybe move to #2 position), work with the draft or FA to find a good younger "consistent" number 1 receiver. Keeping Wayne in the offense only keeps veteran leadership consistent catches and a real threat.
