  1. No way. The very reason the panthers dropped him is because they knew his production would drop making room for new talent. Coaches and licker room alike knew as he got the ball less his attitude would sour. Colts are a "team " first organization. Smith is a virus, a bad attitude, a "T. O,"

  2. I think the colts fans opinions are white noise to management. As it should be. Honestly we as fans see about 4 hours of our players a week sprinkled with ESPN and sport center opinions by "experts" that are also on the outside looking in. Compare that to management who lives in these players lives for 168 hours a week. I know who I'd like to see on my team but realize that mine would be just an il informed popularity contest. Work ur magic coaching staff.

  3. I like the idea of bringing in Branch. Don't need speed and explosiveness. we have that in our young receivers. Could use little more on field vets, reliable route running and great hands for third down conversions. Sign him to a 1 yr low money contract, show him a few looks and maybe it pays off with not much gamble

  4. My concern with how things are going has to do with the beating Luck is taking!  It almost appears as if Luck is regressing in his development due to the pounding he is taking and the lack of quality receivers.  My fear is that he could follow in the footsteps of David Carr, that is, take such a beating and a beat-down that he will never become the QB he could have been.  I just can't understand why they don't have him rolling out more . . . he is gifted in passing on the run and it would give our receivers more time to get open (and Luck would have more than a split second to find an open receiver and get off a pass).  Just a thought!

Totally agree. like many QB's who aren't given the tools or the environment to succeed their careers regress. don't they dare take a BMW and beat it like a oldsmobile.  FIX THAT LINE!

  5. I agree with most of what you said, except about Irsay.  He has the right to post whatever he wants.  I enjoy his tweets, even though I know some come off as embarrassing.

He's nothing like Jerry Jones.  He does insist his team be responsible.  But it appears he leaves the football decisions to those that know better.  IMO, he is letting them work.  But he's demanding the most out of everyone.

Not to make excuses, but losing the second most important player on offense would seriously hinder any teams progress.  You just don't find someone off the street to replace a future HoFamer.

I do agree that as the owner he has the right to make his opinion heard and demand results. he made the decision to place the current coaching staff and can at any time make the decision to change. Entertaining tweets is one thing but to place demands on a team in public forum doesn't sit right with me. I believe one of the prides of the colts organization has been their ability to keep thoughts and doubts out of the public eye. I don't feel any has a right to know whats going on in my home and many on the team see this as their home. Handle ur owner biz, right that ship just don't do it in a forum that both players and coaches can view. If for some reason players get the idea that ownership is losing faith in coaching, that's when monsters are born and "team" issues arise. IMO. P.S. Hamilton could quite possibly be out of his element. Problems in any case need to be addressed.
  6. Although I agree that poor decisions are being made in coaching and that acquisitions made have failed to produce I feel that an obvious point must be made. Talent was acquired through trades and free agency. Talent which hasn't yet produced but talent none the less. As many analysts have said. Colts fans have been somewhat spoiled and hold some unrealistic expectations for success. For and "brand new" team, we are having more success than should be expected. New players new schemes. What do we expect. Holes will be filled and changes made give the powers that be the benefit and credit their years of football knowledge. I would love immediate success year in and year out. That's not football. As for Mr Irsay, you do write the checks and expect greatness. that's why you're a great owner. Keep it in house. don't soil the media market with hidden threats. You constructed a staff that you believed in now let them work. If your expectations aren't met then hold them accountable "in house". Please don't become a Jerry Jones. I'm pulling my hair out with this team the last 4 weeks but I have to believe steps are and will be taken to repair the monster.

  7. I think the biggest problem with the trade is that it doesn't address any of our weaknesses. It was a luxury move, and an overpriced one, at that

I don't think it was a luxury move in the eyes of most. Bradshaw (a decent running back but past his prime and dealing with chronic foot issues) is a bandaid at that position. Brown has under achieved imo since he's been here. By picking up Trich not only due we add a youthful power back with a huge upside, you give Luck for the first (real) time a credible play action. This move just narrows down the needs of the team to the O line.
  8. Castonzo Homers think there are technigue/experience issues with him.

Not at all, he is just a hair to slow to play LT and his footwork/movement is just a little too clumsy.

The guy had tons of College experience and plenty of pro experience, he will never be a solid pass protector in a passing League. Like Link is a 4 position player.

That is a Homer Pipe Dream.

Again I agree. technique and experience is a year one and tow issue. To be near the bottom of the league in allowing sacks since drafted tells me he lacks the speed and skill set. Every game I watch I can see what a difference it would make if we maintained a pocket like the Brady's of the league have. O-line

leads to a run game and run game leads to passing game. A few key upgrades there would change our fate more often than not. Even without a run game, a four to six second pocket for us would wreck a defense.

  9. No he didn`t. He can`t block 2 players. He blocked well IMO.

I agree he cant. I'm not sold either way on him just yet. Maybe hes still nursing an injury in his head or maybe just a little slow on the uptake. Besides If getting luck sacked were reason for dismissal, Castonzo would have been released long ago. Really surprised "this" issue hasn't been a topic.
  10. Couldn't agree more. I'm not saying that Flacco is incompetent but most decent QB's have flashes of greatness and can succeed behind a stellar defense. Grossman did it for years and where is he now? back up at best. pretty sure hes not worth 10 mill a year. Also, even the commentators were speaking on the undisciplined personal fouls and acting out and how these were rare with Lewis and Reed on the roster.

How satisfying this was to see Flacco get slapped in the face with a dose of reality. I don't know if Flacco is still the highest paid QB in the league, but regardless, he's both overpaid and overrated. For years he's been hiding behind what was a stellar defense, a leader in Ray Lewis, the deep WR chuck-and-pray option to Anquan Bolden, the head coaching staff, and Ray Rice. Now Lewis is gone, Bolden is gone, the defense lost a lot of other pieces, and where is the leadership? Can this guy not get his team together and at least try to pump them up? I'm not asking for a Ray Lewis speech, but come on. He looks half asleep out there.

True top-tier QB's make everyone else around them better. Where is that in Flacco? Try being in Peyton's shoes, play with Jim Caldwell, and take your team to a Superbowl.

  11. Loved Peyton and his record run. "was" the Colts and Irsay knew it. That being said< Id almost guarantee that Irsay or grigson hasn't lost and moments sleep knowing the value in the "Luck" pick. Best case scenario if we'd kept Manning..... 3 to4 more years of being competitive, finished his final season at 10 and 6 which would have positioned us perfectly in the middle of the next draft for the next Brady Quinn or Matt Leinart or possibly looking in free agency to squeeze the last bit of success out of a Rex Grossman. No thanks. would have no interest in spending the next 10 seasons looking for a franchise QB. Pretty sure Grigson saw a similar scenario.

  12. Adongo's developmental. He'll beat out some better players due to his potential.

Agreed. Taking a chance on the practice squad for a pure athlete is well worth the risk.  Grigsons shown time and time again he'll risk for possible reward.

  13. Give him a decent salary but DO NOT break the bank. he's a familiar face and is usually healthy. But, he'll catch a couple big yarders a game but will drop 4 or so intermittent. No where near #1 money. Sorry Pierre. Earn ur number one and u'll be paid as a number one.

  14. Thankyou Peyton for giving my entire family a reason to believe in a team year after year. We wish u all the luck in the world in ur new town but will always watch u as a Colt. I hope that when u choose to retire u might consider returning to Indy either in coaching or front office capacity. I believe having u on the team in any form increases its stock dramatically. Again, thankyou making us all believe.

  15. Am agreeing with Turner. Its my understanding that PM had to be released to renegotiate contract. Its been understood for weeks now that Irsay wouldn't pay the 28mil and that PM agiain, had to be released. Sports media is going to report news in a manner that brings the most attention "ratings". Ticker tape at bottom of espn, I'm told, just stated that PM would fly back to Indy tomorrow with Irsay. This could be the start of renegotiations. That being said, If Irsay was planning on offering PM league vet minimum, then Peyton should sign elsewhere because that would be a true slap to the face for Peyton. renegotiations are needed but within reason for both parties. If Irsay just cutting Peyton out right then this is the dumbest decision Irsay has made"BY FAR" in his tenure.

  16. I agree with the sentiment, but since its not yet "done", lets not jump to conclusions about "how it was".

Both players have gushed over manning, so i'm not reading into their statements (anymore).

That said, if Manning is 100% and not a colt, then we always knew it was about money and that is just wrong.

Although I agree that Peyton should redo his contract, I believe that Irsay and Peyton both need to bend on this. By Irsay saying that he would love Peyton to retire a Colt, he's leaving a very vague scenario. This could mean that he would offer Peyton very little gauranteed money and he would still look good because he would simply say that Peyton didn't like the contract and chose to leave. This wouldn't be right either. If healthy and throwing well, Peyton still deserves a starting QB salary. Maybe not the Huge deal but respectable none the less. Both sides need to realize the others needs and work together. Peyton shouldn't need to get rich from "this" contract and Irsay needs to realize that he's not signing a backup or a delivery boy either.
  17. I agree that Luck looks like a great QB. I for the life of me just don't understand why soooo many people are completely sold on an UNPROVEN college QB. really? WOW. There is other talent at QB in the draft. What ever happened to the "more bang for ur buck" theory? Luck is good but sure to be at a huge cost. There are soooooo many options to be entertained and I'm sure the Colts front office is looking at all of them. From much of the talk, if Luck is drafted, I fully expect him to be brought into the stadium on the first day carried in on a throne. WOW!

  18. Why do people doubt Peyton?

Age, Injury History, Lack of sufficient evidence of recovery.

    That about covers it.

age I can't agree with. His age has the least to do with it. he wins with brains and accuracy and has never needed the ability to scramble and make plays. This is where I think "age" would matter. Injury history I believe speaks for itself, NONE until this neck injury. I do however agree that we are still up in the air about recovery progress and its just human nature to speculate. we'll get the answer to all these questions in time.
  19. I don't believe that the PM decisions are even about money anymore.

    1. Irsay wants to move entire team in new direction. Starting to look as though GM and HC were hired because neither one has any ties to PM and Irsay wanted guys that would have a problem giving him the axe if needed. (hoping this is not the case)

    2. If both PM and Irsay agree on wanting to stay in Indy, then undoubtedly, an agreement could be reached. With an incentive laiden contract, PM could theoretically be signed right now. This makes me think that Irsay still on the fence about what direction to go.

    3. If PM does return, the Colts will still chose Luck or another early round QB. By doing this and PM still being resigned, PM would be admitting the he IS being phased out and would he be willing to play on a team the is just looking for a reason to start the future QB?

My opinion for what its worth: If healthy, resign PM. trade first pick for multiple first round picks. Chose QB in draft that shows all the promise but could use and would be willing to take the tutoring for a couple years under PM (this I think would also solve the problem of stiil needing to sign a backup QB.) Chose a lights out receiver high in the draft, then focuse remaining picks on defense.

Still believe that keeping PM on the team, taking into account his medical progress, still gives us the best chance to win while keeping all involved happy.

  20. Even if Manning does come back and come back to the Colts, he will still be a 36 yr old quarterback.

I agree with the 36 yr old part but.... he's a 36 six year old that doesn't rely on athletic ability to win. He wins because he's smarter and more accurate than who he plays. can only see this getting better with a little age. (within reason)
