Jenkins is one of my least favorite players, and I've got about 360 really good reasons.
He ways roughly 360, depending on what time of the day his last trip to McDonalds was.
If a kid comes into the NFL already weighing 360, he will quickly eat his way out of the NFL. No thanks, I'll pass on him.
And if that's not enough, then there's this. He couldn't stay eligible to play in the bowl game. The heart of the defense, his teammates depend on him, and he couldn't pull enough C's to stay eligible?? Come on now. Too much downside not nearly enough upside.
I'll pass, thanks very much.
Interesting. So he's fat AND stupid. Okay, if Grigson drafts him, I'm organizing the angry mob. :tvhammer:
-
At that spot in the 20s, not really. Jenkins is a huge body that commands a double team on almost every play. Great run stuffer too.
I think picking him would be anything but bad.
OL seems to be a more pressing need. Also, I heard he's more fat that muscle. Not to mention we got our Anchor is Chapman (albeit he hasn't actually handled a snap yet)
-
Why would that suck?
Better players than him?

Some miserable miscreants are projecting John Jenkins to the Colts in the 1st round. I don't know about anybody else, but the idea of getting Jenkins SUCKS!!!!

jonathan cooper is 6'3 310 lbs jones is 6'4 305 lbs. jones best position is center even though he's versatile at the college level, he lacks elite strength and quickness to play guard in the nfl. cooper is the better prospect and og is a bigger need then center. cooper is smooth, coordinated athlete with fluid footwork and outstanding balance and also blocks well on the move getting to the second level. a team like denver or greenbay who needs a center will draft jones in the 1st. if both are available no way grigson passes on cooper for jones, cooper is the better player and og is the weakest position on the team.
From what i've read, Cooper is 6'3, 295 pounds and Jones is 6'5, 311 pounds. But we won't know until the Combine or Pro Day. Jones, like I said before, doesn't have Elite strenth, quickness or footwork. All of that is a smidge below Elite. The differnce is made up by his versatility, his leadership and his intelligence, things Cooper doesn't have. The question of Cooper being better or not is rather up for opinion. It depends on the standard you're using to measure. Everyone's is different, hence, everybody's opinion regarding these two is different.

If you want to rely on a guy that only hit 73.4% of his field goals in college, anything less then I'd say 80% is to low for me to rely on for my blood
Let's hope that in the 3 years he;s been with us, he's improved.
-
Grigson has stated he does not draft for need. He goes by best player available on his board. Although oline, olb and cb are needs, almost any position other than QB and RB would be possible choices. Guys will fall to us in the mid twenties who should have gone in the teens. Our good drafting GM will grab one of them.
If this draft turns out to be like the last for us, where we go offense all the way thru, Manusky might pop a vein.

its just one game
The most important game of the year...rather unfortunate really too.

Couple of things, and let's end it here, because you won't budge, and neither will I.
My first thing is the Colts have versatility, they just need a couple of extra bodies.
Cooper fits in well here, and will probably add on more muscle in the offseason. He's not too small for the position. Mankins is only an inch and 10 pounds bigger than him.
Walter Football is a joke. All the real experts project Cooper as the better prospect.
McGlynn can't be on the PS.
You can have the last word if you want, but this is my last post in this thread regarding Jones and Cooper.
If cooper does before the combine, I might change my mind. Until then, Jones is my guy. Also, Colts don't have versatility at all. Versatility means that you can play other position with relative skill and preceision. No one on the colts o-line can do that. They may start at the postion, but they hardly have the skill to play the position they usually start at much rather have the versatility to play another.
-
Walterfootball....really? I haven't seen one reputable site that has jones ranked ahead of cooper. Scouts Inc has cooper at 320lbs by the way
ESPN has him at 295. Guess we won't know until the meat market (Combine). If he is at or above 315, then I might change my mind. Until then, Jones is still my pick.

i like the safety pick but i prefer eric reid
He got wrecked by Tajh Byod and the Clemson offense.
-
He should go to Cleveland. Would serve him right for trying to kill AL12

Anywhere but the AFC.

I am trying to be a nicer poster in 2013. It is a resolution thing so instead of my normal Dear God... response to this bad of a post I will start a new policy to simply say...
Oh My Goodness
But think about it. We could have the classiest looking defensive coordiantor in the NFL, who also is one of the sharpest defensive minds in the game...
I mean could you imagine this guy on our sideline:
-
Mike Nolan is a really good defensive coordinator and I would love having him on our coaching staff, but Manusky has been nothing but impressive this season. He has helped this defensive group make some big plays at times and he has done nothing to warrant being fired.
The problem isn't that Manusky is a bad d-coordinator (he's pretty good). The issue is that he simply doesn't wear a suit, nor do I think he could pull it off.
Nolan on the other hand, well the picture below will speak on my behalf:
-
Switch Jones with Cooper and that's a great draft.
Like I said before, and I'll say it agan: I prefer Jones. You prefer Cooper. Let's not start this debate again.
-
I don't think you can trade compensatory picks. I think they're stuck where they are with who they are.
really? Damn, didn't know that. Thank you for informing me...
-
How about?
1. Barrett Jones, C/G/T
3. Brandon Jenkins OLB
3. (trade back in) Chase Thomas OLB
5. Tharold Simon CB
6. (trade up higher in 6th round) Dan Buckner WR
We trade all of our compensation picks (except 5th round), and 4th rounder to move up back into the 3rd and higher into the 6th round
In FA:
1. Louis Vasquez OG (San Diego)
2. Eben Brittin OT (Jax)
3. (Note: Extremely unlikely) Jairus Byrd S (Bills)
-
What if we fire Greg Manusky and convince (somehow, nearly impossible but somehow) Mike Nolan to become our new defensive coordinator.
-
lefedged has played good enough even if elam was available we wouldn't draft him. we need a olb,g,and rt before any other position. i really like dion jordan he has great quickness and solid against the run.

If anything like ACL or knee related, then I'd prefer to stay away. If anything else, then maybe.
-
Yes, he did. That is why I expect his stock to drop a tad bit. Otherwise, he might be a 4-5 round pick.
What kind of injury did he have?
-
Yeah I been thinking that about Taylor lately, What about Dan Giordano out of Cincinnati in round 6-7(alon with Brandon Jenkins in the 3rd) to develop at 3-4 olb as well, Love his motor but looks a bit slow or should I just stick with WR Buckner
Aslo, don't the Bearcats run a 4-3 base? That transition can be tough, though not impossible.

I'd prefer Buckner, and if not that then Patton earlier in the draft.
So if we win...Denver it is?
