  1. Well...grats on the win. I'd say good game, but lets be honest, that was a pretty ugly game overall from both sides.

I have to admit I'm jealous of the Colts going from Manning to Luck. Luck definitely looks good even under pressure. I'm tired of the vikings using washed up Vets and mediocre drafted QB's. Good luck the rest of the season

  2. Now that it looks like collie will most likley be out and HIlton in, I thought this may end up interesting

i just dont see any of your CB handling ... avery/TY speed on deep pases.

The Vikings drafted Josh Robinson at corner this year who actually clocked the fastest 40 time at the combine at 4.33(I can't find Hilton's combine time, finding pro days between 4.34-4.39). He was in a for some plays last week. Could be a pretty good matchup if those two get lined up against each other.

  3. What Secondary? Just Winfield, who's matched up against Wayne. Idk any of the Vikings Secondary now that Jackson left to Washington. Jared Allen, & the William Brothers are the Biggest threats. Quick Passes & Draw plays should slow them down though. The Smurfs are in FULL force now with TY back.

Pat and Kevin weren't actually brothers and Pat hasn't played for the VIkings since retiring in 2010. Robison is the other starting DE and is pretty good IMO. Chris Cook is the other starting corner opposite of Winfield and will get some time on Wayne.

Vikes depth chart here: http://www.vikings.com/team/depth-chart.html (you can change the dropdown at the top between offense/defense)

  4. I feel that Winfield is getting old, and will be on Wayne most of the game. I don't believe that Cook can cover any of the other Colt receivers, even though he is what..6'3? I believe that with Hilton and Collie back, you will see a different look to the Colts O this week...and quite a few quick WR screens, that should negate the pass rush, and allow Hilton to use his open field ability, in much the same way the Vikes use Harvin.

Hey, if Winfield is old, what about Wayne(they're only a year different)? I have a bit more faith in Cook. He did give up the big play to shorts at the end of the game, but out of 10 targets, he allowed 4 completions last week. Also, Cook could be the one covering Wayne more than winfield. Cook has gotten the primary matchup against Calvin Johnson before. Don't forget, the Vikings play plenty of good recievers during the season, so while Indianapolis has some good WR's, it's not anything completely different than what Detroit or GB has.

Also, just wanted to mention that as bad as the Vikings pass defense was last year(I think it's better this year), it was actually ranked better than the Bears pass D. Different year now, different personnell, but it's harder to point to this years stats after just 1 game

I think it's mostly going to come down to Vikes DL vs Colts OL in the game. The vikes have a decent offense that can control the clock, but not high scoring ala GB and I don't think they can win a shootout. Really need to put pressure on Luck and make him have to rush things. Also, our run defense is suspect now compared to how it used to be.

  5. Harvin is a special teams player that is it, I have watch him since high school in VA, Bch I have never been impressed with him. Teams do not make game plans for him because he is either injured or has a headache. And when he is in he has never truly hurt any team, a flash pan player.

He put up over 1300 yards not counting ST last year. I'd hardly call him a ST player only. He also played every game last season. Until simpson comes back for game 4, he'll get the most targets at WR. Although he's a TE, Kyle Rudolph will probably get quite a few passes as well.

who's on yours DL? robinson and allen are the households but he plays DT and who gives them breathers?

Robison and Allen are the DE's. Kevin WIlliams is still at DT. We definitely miss Pat since he retired in the middle and that would probably be considered the weak spot on the line right now. Guion is the current NT. Everson Griffin is one of the backup DE's and has shown flashes at times, but he's inconsistent.

  6. Do the Vikes have any shutdown corners?

No. I don't believe they do. However, the secondary that finished towards the bottom last year is different this year. I don't think they'll be in the top, but I don't think they'll be in the bottom 5 this year either. More towards the middle of the league Quite a few of the guys starting a lot of the games then aren't even on the team. I'd say Chris Cook is probably our best coverage corner. He had some good series and a couple bad ones last game, but he was suspended most of the year last season, so I'm sure it'll take him some time to get back into it this year.

You are just not aware like we are of how good the colts receiving corp is.

Probably not completely, no. I follow the colts semi-reguarly as I saw Collie play a lot here in Utah and check up on the Utah players on NFL teams from time to time. Really wish he could get healthy. My main point above was calling Harvin a "no-name" player really isn't true. He was 4th in the league in receptions last year with McNabb and a rookie with no training camp throwing to him.

We have a bit more fire power than Jacksonville.

Maybe. Although MJD is pretty good and blackmon looks to be a player as well.

I honestly believe our d-line is better than Chicago's and even though Jared Allen was quiet last game, I don't think that'll happen two times in a row. Robison had a great game even if it doesn't all show on the stat sheet. How much do you trust your OL at this point?

Only got 2 more posts after this one until tommorow! So if I don't respons later, it's cause the board won't let me

  7. Min Receivers vs Ind Defensive Backs: With Vontae broken into this defense and Powers across from him, this will be a great matchup. The Min no-name receiving corps didnt do much against an average Jags D, so id love to see what the Colts got.

    Winner: Colts DB's

While the vikes may not have a true deep threat until week 4, Harvin put up over 100yds from scrimmage last week not to mention good field position from KO returns. Both the corners on the Colts gave up over 100yds each. I wouldn't be so sure on this one. Harvin had more yards from scrimmage and more receptions than anyone on the colts last year, so not quite sure how he is "no-name". With the loss of Garcon and if Collie is still out, the colts WR's are basically Reggie Wayne and just as much "no-name" as the Vikings.

I'm looking forward to this game, and think it will actually be pretty close. Vikings have really struggled on the road recently, so that definitely has me worried. Mathis and Freeney are always a concern, but if Freeney ends up being out, that really changes it. I'm sure Colts fans get annoyed with everyone predicting a win against them, but Vikings fans get the same thing. Lots of Jags fans seemed to think it was going to be an easy blowout win last weekend.
