  1. no thanks. it's not that i'm worried about Andrew getting hurt, but i like him having an experienced guy like Hasselbeck around from which to learn. sure, i'd be the first to say of all the young quarterbacks, Andrew is the one who does not need that. on the other hand, i think every young quarterback can benefit from it. don't make that trade.

  2. That's what I was saying earlier when I pointed out that Wes Welker was once cut by the Chargers. I say give Griff Whalen a shot.

this is my call too. not just because he went to Stanford, but he's a reliable and viable option who plays a similar style to Reggie. not that we'll use him every down, but he could be a surprise for us.

  3. TD drives on 75% of possessions in the NFL are few and far between. You are looking at 10-12 possessions a game, so that would be looking at 7-9 td drives a game? Like I said few and far between. San Jose State isn't on the schedule.

well, i don't believe i said it was going to happen; i merely said if it did, you'd win a lot of games. nice try, i guess.

  4. this was a great team win. a lot of guys stepped up and made one play or another. i realize it's just a pre-season game and that it was against the Rams, but if guys do that in the regular season, we're going to win a lot of games. we also seemed to get better as the game went along. that's the kind of thing that will go a long way.

of course, i'm impressed, yet not surprised with Andrew. i've seen him do this kind of thing live over a dozen times over the previous two years at Stanford. what i'm glad to see is that he seems to be picking up right where he left off in college. he's intelligent, poised and doesn't get rattled. those qualities -- along with several others -- are going to make him successful in this league. i could go on and on about Andrew, but i'm just going to leave it at what i just heard on the post-game show from Pat McAfee: "the kid is gonna be darn good, man."

    doesn't that say it all?!

it was also great to see Stanton and Harnish play so well. a lot of receivers made great plays (Brazille is for real!). i wasn't sure about the defense, but they settled down and held these guys to three points. that's amazing against anyone.

i'm excited to see where the team goes. this is a great start. i hope we can build on it!

  5. it was definitely a great start and something to build on. Luck is made of stone; you can't spook him or scare him. he's intelligent and poised. you're going to see a lot more of that as he gets more and more comfortable. TD drives on 75 percent of your possessions is going to win you a whole lot of games.

  6. 1. Andrew Luck (i mean come on, seriously!)

    2. Tom Brady (for just about three more years)

    3. Andy Dalton (yep)

    4. Peyton Manning (sorry guys, just can't place him second)

    5. T.J. Yates (will take over this season after another Schaub injury)

as for Barkley, he has weapons all around him at usc that he won't have at the pro level, at least for several years -- if at all. he might have a decent career, but he'll end of with somewhere along the lines of a Matt Cassel/Kyle Orton/Jason Campbell type of career.

  7. Ok... so getting rid of manning was a tough pill for me to swallow, but i've swallowed it. . Yes i will always be a Manning fan and I always be a little sad because of how it all went down. But the pain seems to have subsided somewhat. Now, im looking towards the future and starting to get a little excited. My question to all of you faithful and brilliant colts fans is..... How good "IS" Andrew Luck? I watched him play a couple of games in college and liked what i saw for the most part. I was really impressed with him in the Fiesta Bowl (his last college game.) I watched his pro day and thought he looked great. I've watched him with Gruden and about everything i could find on him via you tube. Again...i liked what i saw. I value the opinions of many people on this website. I just want to hear from y'all what your gut tells you about our new QB. My first impressions are that he is extremely intelligent. The kid can read and dissect defenses like nobody's business! He seems to have an excellent touch on his midrange passes and he also threw a deep bomb in the fiesta bowl that was unbelievably perfect. I love his toughness and how he can run(although i hope he doesnt run too often in the NFL.) I think he has some great intangibles... and ive heard alot of people say that. Seems like he is years ahead of a college senior/rookie NFL QB. There are a some things that bother me a little though. I am just not sure about his personality. Now before i say this, i know in some ways this trait could be a positive. He just doesnt show much emotion or drive like Peyton. Peyton was sooo driven to be the best that you could see it just by his interviews. How could this be a positive?? He is alot cooler and calmer than Peyton i think...More like Eli. That could help in clutch situations. He might have nerves of steel in a pressure moment...i dont know. If thats the case, GREAT! But i just dont see that drive and excitement in him like i did Manning. That kinda worries me a little. We all new 18 wanted to be the best and we all knew how hard he was going to work. Peyton was unmatched in that area. I just hope Luck is the same way but maybe just takes a quieter approach. If Tom Moore says he is that good, i believe him. If Irsay says 29 of 32 teams would have madly pursued Luck if he was a free agent...I somewhat believe him (I would imagine he is somewhat "in the know" on this subject.) Now i want to know what all my Colt's Forum friends think. Lets hear your honest opinions! How good is Andrew Luck??? Thanks and GO :coltslogo:

to answer your question simply, he is that good. what you're gooing to love about him are the things you can't see on the field, but as a direct result of what he does in practice, in the locker room, rersponding to game film, and his preparation for the game. he really is the full package. the thing you'll probably appreciate as far as his play is concerned is his intelligence. the Stanford playbook is huge. there were hundreds of plays contained within it, and each week in preparation for their next oppoonent, Andrew would learn up to 400 new sets and variations for that one opponent alone. he's that good. additionally, he's the only qb in college football last year who called 90 percent of his own plays. he not only has that ability, but he had the trust of his head coach and offensive coordinator to do so. essentially, he was an offensive coordinator on the field.

as i attend Stanford, i had the priviledge to see Andrew play live about a dozen times over the past two seasons. you'll love his composure, humilty and desire. he's the type of player around which you can, indeed, build a franchise.

  8. we are not going to be a running team, nor should we be with Andrew Luck.

Stanford relied heavily on the run during Andrew's time there. two years ago he had Toby Gearhart, then had a four-man committee the past two years led by Stepfon Taylor. if we're going to run the same type of offense, then we're going to need a solid running game.

  9. and whats reggie chop liver? the guy was 30 yards shy of 1000 with three garbage qbs

wait a minute ... you call Kerry Collins a garba --- lol i can't believe i almost typed in defense of Collins with a straight face!

  10. Yup!

    http://www.cfbstats....se/gamelog.html

2 missed FG, game 11 at Cal and the game winner (loser!) in Fiesta bowl. Otherwise all scores, and 53 of 67 were TD.

we shouldn't have even kicked the fg in the fiesta bowl (after running down the clock). i'd have preferred to put the ball in Andrew's hands for at least another play rather than on the foot of a freshman kicker in his first game back after missing four games due to injury.

and the other one ... of all teams, who oh why did it have to be against Cal?

peanut butter and jelly; milk and cookies ...funny, Andrew and i were drinking our daily morning tea today on campus; he said he doesn't know either of you! :trout:

  11. Hey, it's the offseason so why not?

I know many might say Houston. Colts have always beaten them at home.

Just for fun, speculate all you want on a "good team" you think the Colts can stun the pants off of next year.

Yes upsets happen in the NFL!!!

i'd ask ... which team will we NOT lose to ... and the answer is ... NONE!

that's right -- 16-0 (19-0 when you include the playoffs and super bowl!).

  12. Coby Fleener finishing off a long drive, on the fade route......

that definitely has my vote as the first passing touchdown (perhaps the first offensive touchdown as well). while i'm well aware of the difference in the colllege and professional levels, it would be difficult to ignore Luck and Fleener's touchdown success at last year in the red zone.
