Echoing the rest, I’m in favor of a 1 year deal. Any foolishness and he’s cut.

If Barkley is available at 3, I think Colts take him. Irsay alluded to as much during that press conference a couple months ago.

Looks like the Giants are leaning away from taking a QB now.
Smokescreen. They are taking a QB.

This hiring is way too close to the Colts past familiarity for my liking. I realise there wasn't much we could do, however this guy is linked with too many ex Colts for my liking. Guys like Christianson, Caldwell, Dungy, Moore, Mudd
Is that really a bad thing though? I miss the days when we were winning lol.

Is the binder real, or merely a prop? It reminds me of when Trump gave the press conference letting us know he was divesting from his businesses by showing us huge stacks of paper he claims was all the divestment paperwork (I'll withhold my opinion on whether I think that was legit or not).
It seems to me, if he's got some trusty binder of coaching candidates, it would be more creative than Frank Reich, Dan Campbell, and Leslie Frazier. So in essence I think the binder is merely a prop to demonstrate his competence in finding a coach (which has pretty much gone out the window in the wake of Josh McD).

The comments on here are making me laugh. Thank you guys.

If we hire this dude, Colts have to do Hard Knocks. Might as well be entertained while we hold our breath this works out.

Let’s look on the bright side...
We get TWO trips on the coaching carousel in one offseason. This literally never happens. Enjoy the ride.

Disgruntled soon-to-be-ex-Patriot looking for revenge. Bring him with you, Josh!

Why isn’t Pat Shurmur in the mix with us?

Irsay and Ballard need to put the full court press on Saban. I’m serious. Pay that man Gruden money. Whatever it takes.
-
I really hope Irsay/Ballard make a push as well. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think Gruden will make a hell of a coach if/when he returns.
-
I will end my Colts fandom if we hire him. Sorry but I’m not supporting a team who hires/enables a serial abuser.
-
The Gruden window is now wide open for us!

Winning cures all ills. I'm not worried about the name, I'm concerned with the coaching.
But yeah, hiring Caldwell shouldn't even be considered, IMO.
Caldwell is a half step up from Pagano. There would be minimal winning.

Not my first choice or frankly my choice at all but I can see the scenario where Irsay does it.
I can’t. Irsay needs a coach to excite the fanbase and season ticket holders. Caldwell is the exact opposite of that.

It won’t be popular but I will say Jim Caldwell. It’s a long shot but it’s what makes it a dark horse. Irsay really thought about keeping hm after 2011 and he’s proven he can win without Peyton. It’s possiable Irsay gives him a second shot if the Lions fire him.
NO. We need fresh blood (or proven old blood like Gruden).

I have no problem with that at all. Peoples memories fade with losing and I understand that too. No matter what happens I will always feel Chuck got a raw deal here and his hands were tied with more than just what turned out to be a bad GM. No matter who the head coach was they would have been dealt a losing hand.
Pagano makes coaching blunder after blunder during games. Blunders that are outside the realm of talent he has to work with. He cannot gameplan and does not have an understanding of Xs and Os that any competent coach should have. He’s little more than a professional motivator. He is not a good coach and I think you are blinded by how nice of a man he appears to be.

Bob Kravitz and JMV think we should consider Mike Shanahan. I'd be on board with this.

He coached for the 49ers, the Packers, the Eagles and the Raiders before the Bucs.
Did I say Head Coach? No I didn't.
It is your freedom to like him all you want but I just happen not to.
He is more interested in the camera stuck in his face. As I have said more than once. He lights up like a Christmas Tree every time a camera gets within 50 feet of him.
IMO we don't need that type of head coach. He has made himself famous by putting his "Chucky" face on and running it into the ground.
So you’re criticizing him for having the normal career trajectory of just about every coach?

Jon Gruden is not a good coach. He coached one team prior and "couldn't get it done". Took Dungy's already built team to a SB win then ..... "couldn't get it done". After that
So let’s say Colts win the Superbowl next year with Taub as HC. Are we going to credit Pagano for the win just because he coached them a few years prior?
