  1. I think everyone is being a little too critical.  Obviously the Colts do their homework and think Mewhort brings something the others did not.

I really think think the Colts hit areas of need and am happy with the picks   .

It sounds like everyone is kinda forgetting how many drives were killed last year because of our WR's .  DHB dropping balls, Whalen not able to get open and causing Luck to hold the ball.  TY getting bracketed, fans were screaming for Rodgers or anyone else at WR.  Now the Colts try to fix this problem with Nicks immediate help and Moncrief to give depth should the same thing happened as last year and fans on here are upset?

Props to Grigs and Pagano for atleast making this Colts :blueshoe:  fan feel better that should we get some injuries on offense Andrew will still have a chance to make some plays.

  2. I'm beginning to fear Luck is going to be in the same shoes as Manning in one regard.

This team is not very good and most likely will be just good enough to make the playoffs and promptly lose in first round again.  Just like Manning, Luck will be good enough to mask flaws and make it the playoffs where the team won't be as good as their record and lose.

Then the dreaded can't win the big game comments will start.

Hopefully the Colts can get a good innovative offense mind who can come up with some creative ways to maximize their best players talents.  If not every playoff game like with Peyton everything will depend on Luck.

  3. It's not that the sky is falling, but how can a team come out of the clubhouse every week so ill-prepared?  You can't continue to play uphill every week.  The game plan can't continue to be lets see what we did wrong in the first half and figure out how to change it in the second half.  How about a little game-planning before halftime.

I would agree.. it doesn't matter who we play against we are never in control at the start of the game.  Even Jacksonville was getting the best of the Colts at the start.  You got to blame coaching.. the first half game plans have been poor to say the least.

  4. Thats why games are 60 mins, It's not about How you start, But How you finish... Would I like them to Play a full Game? Yes I would... But it's what it is

You are correct and nobody is saying differently.  I think what many are saying is despite their record the team is not playing like a team that is going to do much in the post season.  Despite playing well early this season the team most recently got blown out vs St. Louis at home struggled most the game vs the Titans and are now getting embarrassed in Glendale, AZ.  These 3 teams most likely are not playoff teams.

  5. Typically screen passes are good when you are in obvious passing situations.  This why you will see more screen passes by teams that are behind and passing a lot to catch up in game.

The Colts offense being balanced and have not been so far behind that the opposing defense is hard rushing/blitzing Luck every down.  My guess is you will see more screens from the Colts should they get down a couple TD's and need to pass to catch up and use a screen to slow down the rush.

  6. I believe the O-line will be better it was pretty poor last year, so to an extent improvement is expected.  I think the offense will be as good as Luck makes it. If Luck cuts down on his INT's and improve reading defenses from 2012 he certainly has the players at skill positions to be a top 5 offense.

  7. I sure hope not.. I really think Patterson will be a bust.  Poor route runner, avg hands.  He is a big play guy but deff not the guy you want to throw to when you need a big first down.  Seeing how Reggie will be retiring before long I think a WR more along his style.. reliable/great hands good route runner is more important.  If you can add anything more to that ( quickness, leaper etc ) then all the better.

  8. I vote NO for the Bethea trade, He is a solid "football" player.  What I mean by that is he is not a robot back there.. he see's the play coming and anticipates probably better then anyone on our defense.  With all that he is a very solid tackler, a leader, and supports the run really well.

As for Landry I think he is a flat out stud.  I see him drilling CJ2 , MJD, and Foster all year long... can't wait !!

  9. I think by far Landry is the best signing so far and will have the biggest impact on our defense.  Zibi was a big disappointment last year getting beat deep and not getting over the top of coverage like a safety should.  Zibi also chose some bad angles trying to presue rbs on off tackle plays, something I thought he would have done better.   Landry is fast strong and likes to hit, combine Landry with Bethea we have two REALLY good safeties who are great tacklers and support the run def better then most in the league.

As for top 10 def.. I think that will depend a lot on how our new Off cord runs the offense.  If we run the ball more like some experts are suggesting that will limit offense possessions for the other team and keep scores down.. limit defense time on field and make our defense ranking higher.

Excited for the season and love the signings so far.. esp Landry.

  10. Nobody wishes Collie ill here. I think he is a heck of a receiver, and I hope that he is ok. All this being sad if this turns out to be another concussion for his own good the Colts should release him.

In football your going to have helmets get hit, and with AC I cringe at every hit and hope he gets back up and is ok.

  11. Fleener will be ok.. he will be more of home run hitter making big plays. We are gonna see a lot of goaline TD's to Fleener.. his vert is sick. If he is matched against a small LB its not even going to be fair in jump ball situations.

Allen will be that big possession tackle breaking machine, Heath Miller if you will.. with a Jason Witten potential if he keeps working at his craft.

  12. Uses his athleticism to buy time to find receivers

In essence, I think that Luck is more like a Ben Rothlisberger type player with better accuracy. Which I think is a good thing.

Ugh wish I didn't see this video watched first 5 mins and didn't look pretty one that should have been picked in endzone, got his rb killed, then was intercepted. Saw him hit 2 wide open wr's but then those are expected. I hope Luck is what most think .... must admit was worried a bit before I saw this and this made it worse.

  13. I am like most.. I really don't have any problem with these cuts as most have'nt contributed much last couple years. Personally wish they would have made these cuts when they still had Manning. I'm more concerned about what the colts are going to do about WR's if both Wayne and Garcon don't come back. I'm not 100% sure how Collie is considered the /Collins/Painter/Orlavsky QB combo could seem to get him the ball to even see if he could take a hit last year.

I imagine there are going to be ALOT of jerseys needing to be replaced.. more revenue for Colts??

Some of the most popular Colts Jerseys everyone might need to replace :dancing:

    Manning

    Wayne

    Freeney

    Clark

    Addai

    Garcon

  14. Out of the greatest QB's in NFL history very few are first overall, its more about getting the right guy then it is drafting the best qb first overall each year.

    round1 pick 1 John Elway

    round6 pick 199 Tom Brady

    round3 pick 82 Joe Montana

    round1 pick 27 Dan Marino

    round1 pick 1 Peyton Manning

    round2 pick 32 Drew Brees

round* Steve Young ( supplemental draft )

    round9 pick 102 Johnny Unitas

    round2 pick 33 Brett Favre

    round10pick 129 Roger Staubach

  15. For those wondering, let me show you all the Pac 10 QBs taken 1st overall in the SB Era:

    Carson Palmer

    Drew Bledsoe

    John Elway

    Steve Bartkowski

    Jim Plunkett

3 of them have won Super Bowl(s)

All of them except Jim Plunkett have made the Pro Bowl (ironically he won 2 SBs)

9 SB appearances among them all with 5 wins.

The above does not make your point stronger, you know this right? The fact you only come up with 5 quality QB's from the Pac10 in the last 40yrs? When you put it that way its REALLY rolling the dice that you end up with a good QB, esp from the pac 10

    Other Pac10 greats you forget?

    Ryan Leaf

    Matt Leinhart

    John Booty

    Kyle Boller

    Akili Smith

Anyway there is no guarantee with any QB from any conference, just don't try and sell me on great Pac10 qbs lol.
