  1. Dear Peyton thank you for giving us a reason to love the game, thank you for caring for the young and best wishes on your career best game ever played............... 10/06/2003 38-35 colts vs bucs best comeback game of all time!!!!!!!! How many Colts Fans Remember That Game Stayed Up All Night

I was there! I am a NJ colts fan and visited my friend in Tampa (Bucs fan) to see that game. With about 5 minutes left and things looked dim, my friends buddy suggested we leave to get to the bar before they closed. I refused and I said "I came here to see the game, I was watching the entire game." THANK GOD I DID!!!!! Most amazing thing I ever watched. You could hear a pin drop in that place. Then the craziest thing was Vanderjack missing the winning field goal, only to be bailed out by a defensive penalty and was able to kick again.

It was right after he ran his mouth in canada and the "* kicker" remark was made, so I am pretty sure Peyton would have run him out of town that night if that penalty didn't happen! I couldn't believe it at the time, watching Peyton drive the team all the way back and for 30 seconds thought the "* kicker" wasted it all! Best game of my life!

  2. I love that reggie is staying but this makes zero sense to me actually. Why do they force all of our other guys out the door, like Clark and the rest and fork over $17 million to Reggie? Don't get me wrong, I am psyched, but he is never going to see a pass. Poor luck is going to be on his back most games because their line is depleted. He will of course train Luck but I feel like Peyton would have stayed for not that much more if they let him. I wish I could listen in on these closed door meetings! I guess we just have to trust that they have a plan for continued success and our boy Reggie doesn't regret his decision. I am still holding out hope that Peyton visits all of these teams and says "the heck with it, I'll play for free in INDY!" One can dream, right? LOL

  3. I think without Peyton we are going to have the chance to dable a little in free agency as well and improve our team. While tonight and the next few days are going to be very painful I do think the future for Colts football is bright.

Unfortunately that is not really true either. If Peyton stayed the Colts would have paid $17 mil toward the cap this year. Now that he is gone they still have to pay $16 million. (at least thats what I read on one of the sports sites) So if that is true, yet another thing that doesn't make sense.

And good point Malakai432, you are right, I wouldn't have been happy getting draft picks or something for him. It just seems ridiculous to me that you just let a one of a kind player leave your team. Tell me this kid couldn't have learned from him? Look at Aaron Rogers.

I mean fold that contract into some kind of coaching position once he is done playing! He is one of the most brilliant minds in the game. It just sucks that it is all about money.

Look at all the tweets by NFL players after this news. Most says things like "see...its just a business" which tells me that it is more of a >>> you before you >>> me attitude in the NFL. Its almost like this was another wake up call to them, being that if it could happen to Peyton it will happen to anyone, and team loyalty is a lost concept. I don't blame them.

  4. No it has nothing to do with any naive ideology of anything. It has to do with common sense. Peyton Manning Is the greatest QB ever to play and we are letting him walk for nothing. Nothing! No draft picks, no trades, nothing. And now they are just going to hand the keys to a kid who has yet to get one snap in the NFL? They talk about being worried about his health risks, but they are not worried about the risks of an unknown rookie QB? I remember 1998 and they talked up Ryan Leaf as much as they talked up Luck and many "experts" thought they should pick him at the time. Look how that turned out. I would take my chances with a proven winner and HOF QB any day. They don't want to risk paying the guy that essentially made the Colts a national team? Have you ever seen anything promoting the NFL without Peyton on it in a Colts uniform? I mean the guy never missed a game until last year, so he has proven he is pretty darn durable. It doesn't make football sense, business sense, or common sense!
