  1. Maybe it's just me but I think Polian needs to be fired. He was NOT ready for Peyton to go down. He defended Curtis Painter even though many people like Bob Kravitz knew he clearly was not an NFL QB. He never played like an NFL QB. Then when it's his time - Polian up and gets Collins. So much for next man up. A 38 year old retired QB who was never more than above average, is with just a week to prepare, a better choice to start the season than Painter, who was hired to do one thing: win when Peyton cannot play.

Collins did nothing today to redeem Polian in my eyes. Polian has always taken great teams and turned them into better than average ones. Remember the Bills four consecutive failed superbowl appearances? That was Polian. Add to the legacy all the Colts quick playoff exits, and only one Championship for the team with the greatest QB of all time.

The people of Indiana do not deserve the season we are about to endure courtesy of Bill Polian. How long will the Ersay Family put up with this guy?

  2. I can't start a new topic but I would simply like to ask how many fans think Bill Polian is to blame for our upcoming lost season? Ok don't overreact to my comment that the season is lost; I am just saying what everyone in football is saying. We will win no mored than 3-6 games.

My opinion is Polian was caught not ready for this personel wise. We have been flirting with disaster by not having a viable backup QB for years. This is another in a long string of Polian errors which I bellieve have kept the team from more superbowl appearances. One big thing is Polian has a history of "close but no cigar." Second, Polian has a history of continuing to do the same things over and over - even when the have never worked. Remember Buffalo's 4 consecutive super bowl losses? That was Polian.

This "next man up" idea is Indianapolis' version of a Polianism (what I call his inability to recognize his bad decisions until it is too late). If next man up is really his philosphy? Why go out and get Kerry Collins? Knowledgable football people (including Bob Kravitz) have been saying loud and clear for years: Curtis Painter is not an NFL caliber QB. He rarely, if ever, played like an NFL QB. Arena football league maybe, but NFL no. But Polian kept sticking with him to the point where it seemed like psychological denial. But when Peyton looked like he many not be ready for the season, what happens to next man up? It beocme next man on the bench, old man in the game. We run out and get Kerry Collins. To me, that's a day late and a dollar short.

Similarly, we have the same issues every year - no run defense, no run game, no committment to winning in the preseason. we keep doing the same things over and over and expect the result to be different.

The people of Indianapolis do not deserve the season we are about to have. It is ours couresy of Bill Polian, whose legacy in the NFL is taking great teams and turning them into slightly better than average one.

The remaining question is just how deeply in denial is the Ersay family? Jim, let the Polians go.

  3. Yeah, it is time to trim the fat this Tuesday, from 90 to 75.

On offense (3 WRs cut because Gilreath and Brooks will be playing for 1 roster spot with more playing time, IMO):

    1.Chad Spann, RB

    2.Larrone Moore, WR

    3.Joe Horn, WR

    4.Marshall Williams, WR

    5.Mike McNeil, TE

    6.Casey Bender, OT

    7.Josh Beekman, OG

    8.Mike Hartline, QB

    On defense:

    1.Ollie Ogbu/John Gill, DT

    2.Terrence Johnson, CB

    3.Brandon King, CB

    4.Chip Vaughn, S

    5.Chris Colasanti, LB

    6.Kerry Neal, LB

    On special teams:

    1.Travis Baltz, P

    Thoughts??

    Chip Vaughn is Gone!

  4. Now that Peyton has agreed to take less than he deserves, the burden is now on Irsay and Polian to produce superbowl championships for ur city. It is frustrating to watch as other teams (NE and NYJ) sign great players to position themselves for championships, while we do nothing but sit idle and hope that our current players blossom into pro-bowl players. Some will. Many will not.

Peyton Manning is the best player to ever play the game. For him to have only one ring is unacceptable. It exposes the flaws in our upper management. Peyton has given Polian every opportunity to sign great players that fill our holes on defense and make our team a candidate for multiple championships over the next five years.

Why don't we do it? Why do we seem to pick up only back-up QB's during free agency, when we need to stip being embarrassed on defense like we were last year by Arian Foster. If we continue to rest on our laurels, we will be a great team, but not a championship team. What's your plan Bill and Jim? What do you plan to do with the gift Peytoin has given you?
