Velocity has a lot to do with whether or not a ball is catchable. Face, Curtis "Spicoli" Painter was not half the QB good ol' Jack Trudeau was.
As far as the cuts go, Irsay said it best at Manning's press conference when he said, "We're two or three years away."
NFL-to-English translation = Get used to being at best a .500 team.

I'll celebrate the occasion by purchasing my new Peyton Manning jersey.

More than anything I hope Peyton is healthy and stays that way. Good health trumps everything.
For a destination I like the JETS. All the pieces are there, and contrary to what the talking heads at espn are saying, I think that he and Rex Ryan would get along great because they already respect each other, and both are historians of the game. Their offense would be thrilled to run another 20-30 plays after practices with the best QB since Johnny U; and during games Peyton would like watching a defense that's dynamic, especially at LB and CB. He wouldn't have to throw four touchdowns to win every game.
And then there's that little fun bit about squaring off with Brady twice per year.

"Nothing better than a souped up Dixie Chopper!"
True.

"I think the issue is people don't believe Irsay."
Ding.
Owners care about the money; they have to, it's the lifeblood of any business. At this moment Peyton is a money vs. risk decision first; and an emotional decision last.

I doubt very much that any player on the roster will follow Peyton to another team as part of some alleged package deal. I don't even know if there's a precedent for that in NFL history. Meanwhile, it's March already. We'll know soon.

College and the pros are two different animals.
Peyton will retire some day; If it's sooner than later, I'd like to see him coach Tebow.

The Colts had a bad season because of 3 bad backup QBs. There is nothing wrong with the team. The biggest weakness the Colts have is ownership. Irsay should be seen and not heard; he's starting to behave like Jerry Jones.

Alleged genetic predisposition notwithstanding, bone spurs are not career ending or life threatening. So, I'm calling b.s. on the aforementioned article. I agree with buccolts, it's sad this stuff is playing out in public; Irsay twitters like a fifteen year old. He should chill the f out.

Moss was picked up by the Titans and shelved on purpose to keep him from possibly ending up on the Colts' roster that season they had all those injuries. Would I want him now? Yes. Just like I'd want Owens; physical specimens, both of them. Remember this isn't the 1960s or 1970s where physical conditioning was a syringe filled with cortizone, injected right there on the sidelines. This 'aint North Dallas Forty in other words. So yes, I'd take Moss.

Blackmon is an interesting idea. Considering the new O-coaching a big fullback might also be in the mix.

With the league favoring the pass, an all 3-4 seems like a bad idea to me. Look at the current world champs. The mvp should have gone to their front four (IMO). A hybrid situation might work. If not, then I agree that Freeney may be headed down the home stretch. It would be a sad thing to see him go, though. Scheming for him and Mathis gives opposing o-lines nightmares.

What's that from!? I can't remember.
JoKeR, it's from the movie Robo Cop.

I can resolve this:
1. Irsay already said Peyton will stay if he is healthy and wants to.
2. Peyton already said he is rehabbing fine and making satisfactory progress.
3. Most importantly, neither man is a liar; they do what they say.
Know them by their deeds.

I just now read the Kravitz article. Wow. That guy has some issues.

Peyton and Eli fan makes a good point; and I'll add Bob Sanders as another example of Irsay weighing the cost vs. the return. In Bob's case it was worth it --and that went on for years.

GoColts8818 Thank you, I'm grateful to God for every day. And you're exactly correct. My doctor said the same thing to me, to wit: Recovery time is at a different pace for different people. And I've been rehabbing entirely on my own. Peyton on the other hand is a trained athlete and he has the best medical support; so, I'm going to stick with seeing the glass as half full.
JTcardscolts I agree with you 100% with the caveat being that successful businessmen --like Irsay for example, might hear the talk, but they're not swayed by it. People on that level see a much bigger picture. Polian was that kind of decision. I mean seriously, does anyone actually believe Grigson is an upgrade? In that vein I wouldn't be so certain of Luck or Griffin either; but that's another thread.

Irsay's first concern is the bottom line, period; and he already said that Peyton's health and desire to remain a Colt will make it so. His recent roster moves are intended to ease liability (the costs). As far as the contract restructure goes, Peyton and other Colts players have voluntarily done so in the past to make signings and resignings easier on the organization. Peyton is class, he will do what must be done.
Peyton meanwhile is rehabbing. I have gone through nerve rehab myself, and from personal experience I can tell you it takes time. The damaged nerves not only must heal, they must re-learn and also learn to re-route signals. September of 2010 and counting for me, and I'm about 90%. Not bad considering I don't have personal trainers, or a top notch team of doctors and therapists I can call whenever. If Peyton says he's on track, I believe him.
Like it's been posted already, the alleged journalists on the sports desks are trying to cause drama.

Polian was the best GM the Colts ever had; and one of the best in the entire NFL. He kept things together by restructuring, scouting, picking, and even hosting walk-ons. Without Bill, you can forget 12 straight winning seasons.
As for Manning... The more days that pass, the more I'm smiling inside for him, because I've realized that he didn't get released so much; it's more like he got out just in time.
