  1. Here are my thoughts on off season needs. Still another off season of too many needs for Draft and resources

    Ranked in priority

    1. OLB. They need a whole new crew Inside/outside. If Freeman can stay at home..buys us time in the middle

    2. DE/Edge rusher.  More sustainable pressure helps out the overall secondary

    3. Interior Dline.  Big run stuffer and qb rusher.

    4. Rb.  Need a playmaker to learn from Gore. Will take a year to learn pass protections anyway.

    5.  CB.  No depth, no one really to play dime or nickel slots.

    6. Guard or right tackle. Depends on where Haeg will end up playing. Need depth.

    So many holes..so little resources

This years draft should be about defense.  It is tempting to want to grab a RB early, but we need a difference maker on D.  Ie Dalvin Cook

I say try to get as many Alabama defensive players as possible lol.

  2. The sad thing is...TO is an butt, says stuff to be an antagonist, but that is fine. He is "controversial".  Marvin rightfully fires back, and Marvin comes across as "rude" or "arrogant".  I am glad he basically told TO to sit down and shut up.  Coming from a quiet guy like Marvin, it carries more weight to me.  IMO.  Marvin was the best wr of his generation.  Put up great numbers even after sharing the field with Reggie Wayne, who will be another Hall of Famer.  I love that he also said Bruce is a HOF before TO.  Another quiet classy guy who did his business without jumping around like an butt.

Well I wanted Jenkins, but now I'm not so certain financially speaking:

Janoris Jenkins turned down a 5-year $45 million dollar deal from the Rams. Said that "he was low-balled". Dude what????#NFL

Wow!  He also fired his agent.  No wonder the Rams have turned to Johnson.

Appears Jenkins is really working from a sound position, firing his agent and all.

Who's up next for us? Norman will no doubt be tagged by Carolina.

Looks like they are leaning with tagging Johnson. I would love to have Jenkins if let go and it seems he will be.

Have to say I am surprised. They must not be very confident in signing Jenkins.  However to guarantee Johnson $12-14 million per year is a serious overspend.  As a former fan, nothing should surprise me.  However, it now feels great to watch the lunacy from the outside.

What will suck, is that all corners price tags just went up.

There's all kind of moves you can make to address backup linebackers. Lets not forget Nate Irving is still on this team as one of those backups. Mcnary played more snaps as a backup than all of them I believe so there's that as well. Then there's Herrera and Sylvestre. Cupboard isn't as bare as you think and Grigs will make other moves. You can't address everything in one draft though. As long as we beef up the D line, and stock up on pass rushers we can deal with Sio and Freeman as the starters. Nate Irving and someone else quality. It can be a draft pick but I think we would be okay with a quality Veteran. Honestly Herrera and Sylvestre are good ball players so there may be an answer there. Honestly when I look at Denver I don't think their 2 ILBs are on the level of a Patrick Willis/Navarro Bowman tandem. It's more about that DL in front of them and those pass rushers.

Great points.  Solidifying the line should be the priority. A weak line puts even more pressure on the LBs. Edge rusher & inside run stuffer.

How is the Colts safety situation?

I actually think they'll want to bring Johnson back over Jenkins. Like the other guy said above. They have EJ Gaines who was a beast his rookie year. He'll be back and ready to start this coming season.

Knowing Fischer and the team.  I think he prefers Jenkins because he is more or a #1 guy with Gaines coming back to be #2. They don't need to save money because of the cleared space from Long, Cook, and Lauranitis.  IMO

If Jenkins goes crazy on the money, then they will sign Johnson in a heartbeat.

Side note, Lauranitis would look great in a Colts uniform.

First up. Are you a former St Louis Rams fan who's coming on board with us? If so then welcome brother. 2nd. Who had you rather have between Johnson, Jenkins, Smith, Hayward, or Amukamara? I'm not a fan of Amukamara personally.

I am a newly converted Colts St Louis fan. Thank you for welcoming me.  I have to say by reading the posts in here I can tell this fan base is very knowledgeable and a whole lot less jaded. Very excited to root for a team who is focused on fans and winning. Will be a huge change.

My my thoughts on Corners, forgive me if there is something I am not seeing with the team, if Vontae Davis is the man.  He will shut down whoever, when healthy.  You need a solid number 2, and not a number one guy.

Right off the bat...these guys will get too much money: Norman, Smith and Amukamara (Amukamara will be overpaid by the Giants who love to overpay for everyone). Way more than you need to pay. I love Trumane Johnson because he is a solid cover guy who has ball skills.  You need more INTs esp from a guy who will see most of the passes, given Vontae returns to form. Between Jenkins and Johnson, Johnson is better at coverage and Jenkins is more of a ball hawk.  Jenkins will be paid more (most likely by the Rams). you will have a better return on Johnson.  I also like Johnson because he is 6'2". With the size of the WRs in the AFC south, especially at the #2 wide out spot, you need a taller guy.

Second to Johnson, I like Hayward.  Won't command top topbucks and could grow into a number 1 guy, more upside than Johnson.  He is only 26. Wish he had more size, but is the same height range as all corners coming out in the draft.

Third option, not as exciting.. Jeraud powers of Arizona.  Cost you a lot less and plays up to a number 2. Provided Vontae returning to form. Would allow you to pay more for pass rushers, and still have solid play at that spot.

What are the other needs the Colts need to address?

I see see it as the need o-line and d-line help in a big way.  A Solid linebacker. Youthful Depth at RB. Big wr to compliment.  As well as the #2 corner.

They probably wont bring back both Jenkins and Johnson. Between those 2 and Smith and Hayward we can get a very good young CB to pair with Davis.

The Rams have already said they will not be bringing both back.  They have a better corner than Johnson who has been injured all year in EJ Gaines.  Jenkins is overrated because he always plays for the INT instead of covering his man.  Johnson doesn't have the ball hawk skills like Jenkins, but mostly because he still covers his guy.

Welcome!  Do you think there are many like you from the St Louis Area?  What do you think will happen to the Rams fans in your area?

Thank you all for welcoming me.

I have a couple of friends who are becoming Colts fans after they heard my story. We are going to see if the bar by our house will be a STL Colts fan bar. We know the owner really well. I posted the story on my Facebook feed and a few others want to become fans now. It's like I said, the Rams fans are so starved for real NFL experience it is a no brainer.

A lot of the former Rams fans are still hurting and not sure what to do, but I made the choice early to move on. I am a huge football fan, and was as season ticket holder for years. So not a bandwagon fan at all.

I want to to come to the opener next year. How difficult is it to get single game tickets? I know it will have to be from a broker.

  10. I am a new Colts fan.  My choices were follow the Rams to LA, ignore the NFL, become a fair weather fan to all teams, or choose a new team.  I decided to choose a new team and focused on 6 teams.  I sent emails to each team asking why I should be a fan of their team, and only the Colts called. Yes, they called me.  I am not a fair weather or a bandwagon fan.  I rooted the Rams all the way to the end, all the while Kroenke trashed our city, and Jeff Fisher lied about

not knowing anything.  After the ordeal with Kroenke, it was amazing to have a team call me and ask me to be a fan.  As Colts fan, you don't know how lucky you are to have a team that supports the area, puts a great team on the field, and really tries to engage their fans.  The Rams did none of this.  You never saw the team reaching out to fans, putting on events, anything.  Their idea of game day experience is to put up a tent in front of the stadium and that's it.  While the Cardinals, who don't ever have to do anything to win their fans love... Have event after event. I still don't understand why we get a bad wrap for being a "baseball town" when Chicago, Boston, and New York have bigger followings for their baseball teams than football as well. Boston actually has a larger following for the Celtics too.

However, I am done with all of that and am looking forward to coming to Indy to watch games.  I hope you all accept us, and I'm sure there will be more. We really want to have a great NFL experience and root for a team who appreciates us.
