  1. Jaguars had the best draft for me (minus the TJ Yeldon pick).

Even the Yeldon pick made sense if you listened to their GM explain the logic.  It sounds like they were prepared to trade back into the first round to get one of the top 2 backs in the draft, but both came off the board so quickly that they had to make a call.  They rated Yeldon as the 3rd best back in the draft, mostly because he was more of a 3 down back which is something the Jaguars didn't have on the roster coming into the draft.

It seems like they got a lot of love from analysts grading the draft after the fact, and looking at the value they got for some of their mid round picks, it makes sense.

  2. After sleeping on it, I still came to the conclusion that Grigs blew the first pick.

Both lines need improvement and he goes after a position we are LOADED at!

    I'm with this.

There were better options that would have helped either line.  If this was the best player on the board when we picked, trade out of the pick.

  3. Honestly to me it speaks volumes about how much input Pagano has on picking guys.

for someone who is known as somewhat as a defensive guru speaks volumes that we rarely pick any,

It does seem a little odd that you've got a defensive minded coach and you had an opportunity to land a good DB when you were on the clock in the first, and they went after another receiver.  If I'm Pagano, I'm starting to wonder if I want to remain in a situation where they say they want my feedback, yet they rarely agree with my opinion.

  4. I can just imagine Chuck sitting in the draft room last night rolling a his eyes and furious with this pick. I'm all for drafting the best player available but the rumors of Pagano and Grigson not getting along might just be true. To me it seems like Grigson and Pagano aren't on the same page.

If they're not on the same page, it will be interesting to see who wins that battle.  If Dorsett becomes a significant contributor, Pagano will either need to bite the bullet and let Grigson do his job.  If Dorsett doesn't have an immediate impact as expected for a first round guy, Grigson's seat should start to warm.  Tough to imagine it costing either their job unless the team just implodes, and in this division that doesn't seem likely.  At least not any time soon.

  5. If the expectation is that his main contribution to the team will be as a return specialist, that doesn't really match the value of a first round pick.  There were better options that could have been selected.

He's small and fast.  I don't pretend to understand why they'd want another guy in that mold, but he's here.  We'll see how that plays out long term.
