do the Colts get any kind of draft pick compensation for someone like Inman?

Would you rather sign Inman for a year or Jordy Nelson? Inman is already 30. I don’t think you want him back for a long contract.

If that scenario happens then I would have to pull for Kelly to lose that battle and slide into the guard spot. Then we can correctly play this new guy at the position he is potentially being valued at..Center. Kelly is still under rookie contract so we likely are not overpaying for his services at guard. If Kelly plays average or mediocre at guard at least we aren’t paying him 10 million to do so.
You could look at is as if you are not paying Jensen to do so either. I see this as a very good signing potentially because of his versatility. If he were to be signed at 10M and you really wanted to nit pick you could consider Jensen as a 7-8M a year guy as guard and 2M as a starting caliber backup center. You are getting more value out of him as a backup because he is still playing. This is added insurance and allows you to have added depth at arguably a more valuable position (center). 7-8M is still a lot for a guard and he would need to be better than average at the position, so hopefully the scouts on the Colts staff know what they are doing.

Yes, so Irsay would have two birds in hand. You know the saying two birds in hand is better than one recently retired HOF bird or something.

I don't understand why Irsay would hire Raye... He is already working there and he isn't going anywhere this year. Unless he is head and shoulders above the other candidates wouldn't you rather have him along with one of these other candidates on board at the same time. If he ends up leaving in a year or two you have a spot for Manning.

Hopefully the colts can get a good D-lineman somewhere still. I know they're out there.... If I was building a Defense I wouldn't want the biggest weakness to be right up the middle of the field. Seems like D-line and safety should be a big priority.

The way injuries have hampered them for the last few years I would still think it'd be a good idea to bring in at least one guy like Weisnewski to help solidify it and add depth.

Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster... I wanted to post last year when the Colts picked up Kerwin Williams, as I thought the Colts finally found someone to answer long time special teams problems. I think his success in Arizona are an indication he still might have had he gotten a better look. Anyway, as a USU season ticket holder and alum I love my Aggies.
Speaking of 6th round guys I would love for the Colts to take a look at Zack Vigil an ILB from USU. He can provide some good depth at linebacker and he may surprise some people fwiw.

He's also mentioned in this article from Charles Davis...
"A quick note on some players that didn't make list but definitely stood out -- the West team's linebackers have been the most impressive position group I've seen all week. Kansas' Ben Heeney, Utah State's Zach Vigil and Stanford's A.J. Tarpley and James Vaughters are all terrific space players, and it's not a surprise given the number of big-time aerial attacks that call the Pac-12 and Big 12 home. Now, on to the list."

I would think the vast majority of Oline players would prefer to play this way. To be able to be aggressive and take the attack to the defensive players. It's why Olinemen like running plays so much. I think the biggest needs would be fitness and depth. Judging by Nelson and his mentality of running upfield after every single play last year, I think it is a play style that he is going to love!
