Possibly. I don't think Ballard is in love with Chubb, Barkley, or Nelson and feels like has to get one of those three players or else the first round is a failure. Which has been the opinion of about 75% of the forum for the past 6 weeks.
In fairness, 75% of this forum will also say whatever Ballard does on draft day is pure genius....no matter how good or bad it is in reality.

Here is what was shown in the Louisville TV market when the Colts were playing this season:
Week 1: Colts at Buffalo
Week 2: <Colts played on Monday night>
Week 3: Colts at Tennessee
Week 4: Jacksonville at Colts
Week 5: <Colts played on Thursday night>
Week 6: <Colts played on Sunday night>
Week 7: New Orleans at Colts
Week 8: <Colts played on Monday night>
Week 9: Denver at Colts
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Colts at Atlanta
Week 12: St. Louis at Cincinnati
Week 13: <Colts played on Sunday night>
Week 14: Colts at Jacksonville
Week 15: Houston at Colts
Week 16: Colts at Miami
Week 17: Tennessee at Colts
So with the exception of Week 12 (when we played Tampa Bay), every Colts game was available in Louisville this season.

I wish internet message boards existed back when the Pacers drafted Reggie Miller over Steve Alford. It would be fun to go back and read those posts. This thread reminds me of all the armchair GMs back then who were calling into radio shows and writing letters to the Star proclaiming that the front office were a bunch of "*s".
I have faith in this team and look forward to us having a successful season next year.

its preseason. Everyone looks legit in preseason. Hec even their rookie year. Until the defenses catch up to your system and then you are pooped. Like RG3.
Correct. Anyone remember the preseason game during Manning's rookie year where we played the Chargers? Leif looked MUCH better than Manning in that game, but we all know how that ended up once the real season started. I listened to the post-game show on the radio after that game and they were flooded with calls saying we made the wrong choice.

When D'Qwell Jackson picked off Brady, our equipment manger once again found the ball was soft. And Brady has a worried look on his face in retrospect after the pick Highlight is still located here-
Grigson calls up to the league Excec's at the game and says they have another deflated Patriots ball.
You left out the part that the intercepted ball was not deflated and by all 3 measurements was in the exact range that it should have been according to Exponent.

If the Rams became an AFC team, it would be awesome to have them in our division. They should realign us with the Ohio teams too. So Colts fans could easily travel en masse to division games.
I would love to see us out of the AFC South. I've always hated being in that division.
With 3 teams fighting for the 2 spots in Los Angeles, I wonder how the fans of the loser are going to react when that team comes crawling back home with their tail between their legs?
-
It's always been more about Bellichick than Brady and it will be proven if he ever retires.
Actually, I think that was proven when they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel a few years ago when Brady was injured for the season.

Did Polian also report that "water is wet"?
I don't think you'll find many around here that would dispute what Polian said there. Any issues with the Pats are unrelated to his abilities as a coach.
-
LOL @ them laying out the change on the table. I don't know why I find that so funny.
It is funny. That whole town is a joke to begin with. The police there are well-known for their corrupt tactics. Having been there a few times, I can assure you that no one there even knows what the metric system even is.
All of those little towns around that area (Starke, Waldo, Lawtey, Hampton) have been under fire recently for police abusing their power.

I know I'm in the minority, but I still say he's got another shot or two at a Super Bowl if he's healthy. Everyone seems to forget just how good he was early in the season.

A quick question: If the gun was indeed registered to him and unloaded in a box, is that a crime? I don't know the ins and outs of guns laws but I thought a conceal permit was not needed if the gun was being transported unloaded and not accessible.
I think it's funny how they are using the metric system to make 357 grams sound like a lot more weed than 12.6 ounces.

I am pretty sure no one here would believe the truth if it was anything but "they cheated".
Not true. If the NFL report comes out and says that they did nothing wrong, then I have no interest in it any further. At this point we have conflicting reports from Mortensen, Florio and Rapoport. I just want to know what the truth is.
-
Florio is old news...Rappaport has the latest. One ball 2 lbs under, the rest "just a tick".
I'd be curious to find out if the one that was 2 lbs. under was the one that had been spiked a few times in the end zone.

You know...I keep hearing people say Indy is a small market city but the Indianapolis metro area is ranked 29th in the US and Cincinnati, Nashville, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Buffalo, and Charlotte-Concord are all in smaller markets.
As far as sports franchises go, I think market size is generally referred to by the rank in Nielsen Media Markets. Since the bulk of the revenue comes from TV, that's pretty much what they look at. We're the 27th largest Nielsen Media Market.
http://www.tvb.org/media/file/Nielsen_2014-2015_DMA_Ranks.pdf
We're not as small a market as some would like to believe. There are 8 teams that play in smaller markets than us: San Diego, Nashville, Kansas City, Green Bay, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, New Orleans, and Buffalo.

Jack,
Suh would be big, but I can't imagine they could resign all our players and pay him the kind of money we'd need to get him. Playing with Luck certainly is an attractant, but Indianapolis isn't usually the city bigtime FA's think of moving to once they escape a city like Detroit. Are there serious rumblings that we might go after him? The problem I see, beyond his salary and his reputation being out of whack with our supposed team morals is that even WITH him, we would not have stopped the run this year. Who else could we afford to bring in to help with his big salary?
I do believe the money should be spent on the two lines and at least one young top RB. (And not a worn out FA). We also need more rush help as Mathis is getting ancient and coming off major injury and though the Ball State kid did well, we need 2 serious young pass rushers to go along with Mathis, with him being used more situationally and also to teach the younger players.
And to TKnight, I simply disagree with you on this one. I saw some of the worst passing I've ever seen from Manning combined with tough CB play leading to balls being dropped out of character for Denver in the playoffs. But we had the same CB's the first game and nearly won, it was simply that Manning was hitting his passes and Luck was turning the ball over in the first half. Though I do admit I only heard about the game as I was in Spain when it happened at the start of the season. I truly think we'd have been in trouble if Manning could have been even average that game in the playoffs.
I don't know if I'd go as far to say there are "serious rumblings" about Suh coming here, but there is some talk that the Colts are interested. A couple of the "insiders" that appear on the local talk shows seem to think we're going to try. Of course getting him is going to be difficult as there will be several teams in the running.
You're right about us not being a bigtime draw for FAs, but a lot of that had to do with Polian. He was more of a "build through the draft" kind of guy. It's still not a glamorous place in the eyes of many FAs, but we are a contender and that will help. If he wants to play for a contender the usual attractive places to move (NYC, Miami, LA, San Francisco) aren't going to fill that need. I don't see the Jets, Giants, or Dolphins being in the SB Hunt. San Francisco is probably out of the mix with Harbaugh being gone and Oakland is still Oakland. LA still doesn't have a team, although that might change soon.
It probably won't happen, but at least there is a chance.
While Peyton was certainly off that night, he did complete a 32 yard pass in the 1st quarter, so he still had some ability left in that arm to throw a deep pass. Our secondary was aggressive that night and I still think we could have beaten the Broncos even if Peyton would have been 100%.
-
The only reason we beat Denver in the Playoffs was Manning couldn't throw to his often wide open for touchdown receivers on multiple occasions. Do you disagree? I think with an injured Manning we should have won by much more if we were anything special this year. Commentators regularly stated how shocking it was that Luck had drug such a talentless team so far. If we're Luck(y) he'll have management who will surround him with the best players they can with his upcoming fat new contract on the books. The easy days are over even with the expanded Salary Caps coming up.
Even with Manning's injury throughout the 2nd half of the season, they were still undefeated at home until we went in there and beat them. That counts for something. I give our defense some of the credit for stopping Manning.
If somehow we do get Ndamukong Suh, I'd say we could easily be 14-2 next season.
-
The only way the theory works for the Pats is if the Colts balls were inflated to 13.5 and the Pats to 12.5 prior to gametime.
-
If Suh can play in our 3-4 scheme then he would be a perfect signing. Everyone is saying we don't need a guy like him, but we actually really do...bad. We need a player on D with that mean streak like he has. We need smash mouth, hard nosed, in your face type players that hit hard and scare opposing QB's like Mr. Brady. If Suh could play in the 3-4 and we signed Knighton too our D-Line would be the best in the league. Jones-Knighton-Suh, with RJF, Kerr, Hughes, and a draft pick as backups.
I couldn't agree more. I would love to have Suh come here.

Seen Belichick had another presser where he came out and denied everything again but this time he took a much more stern position. That gave me the feeling that the NFL is planning on shoveling this entire thing under the rug... I think the NFL has already handed out talking points to most of the media.
So, IF the Pats get no penalty at all OR if they get a minimal slap on the wrist - what will be the reaction of the entire country aside from Boston of course? Are we all going to let this one slide?
I'm still of the belief that all of the evidence will eventually come out. It may not be before the Super Bowl, but I think a detailed report will be issued at some point. If it proves that they violated the rules, there's no way that they'll get by with a slap on the wrist.
-
Colts were handled by winning football organizations this season. Minus Denver where Manning just looked pitiful we were overmatched by every single top tier team
Who were these "top tier" teams? Dallas? Yes, they were clearly better and almost ended up in the NFCCG. Baltimore? We beat them. The Bengals? We beat them twice. The Eagles and the Steelers didn't even make the playoffs.
Besides Dallas and New England, I don't see what other "top tier" teams "overmatched" us.

Pagano is fine.....what's with all the panic? I think he's squeezed more success out of this team than most would.
-
they can't wear stuff with Budweiser logos either
Yeah, but he was referring to beer..........
-
As long as they are consistent with dpi and def holding im ok with it
Consistent is fine, but I don't want it to turn into flag football either. I want Vontae to be able to defend without ticky-tack PI calls.
-
I don't think it would anywhere that needs a QB though, minus Arizona. Indy, on a one day contract is where he will sign next if cut, though.
Does Arizona really need a QB? I thought Carson Palmer was pretty effective this season and didn't they just sign him to a new deal?

It wouldn't have mattered. We could have drafted my neighbor's cat and the Ballard disciples would have called it a great pick.
