  1. Didn't call anyone out?     You called most everyone out.

Nice that you're disrespectful and in denial by giving yourself a get out of jail free card....

    How convenient.

    Good to know.

I don't think a general statement regarding the overall feel of a 4-page-thread is "calling anybody out", no. Did I say a name? Did I quote anybody? Did I even address a specific point? Nope. I did exactly none of those things.

I'm not getting into a personal deal with you, so stop trying to goad me into one.

At any rate, I don't think this board is really my kind of thing, so there's no need for further "pleasantries". Good luck next season and I mean that.

  2. Aside from the subject you do know you come off as quite snobby right? Didn't know if intentional or not but your words could easily be taken as "I know a lot about football and everyone else is just dumb".

    Just an FYI

If me pointing out to people that they're wrong is snobby, then sure, call me Snobby McSnobberson. That was not really my intention, I'm just annoyed by people who run their mouths without knowledge of the subject at hand. And that goes for most things, not just football.

  3. Offense, defense, doesn't matter. Point is if your arguably best player ON THE ENTIRE TEAM is available then anyone is, at the right price. Besides, Jordan wouldn't net a 2nd rounder anyway. Moving on.

That story pretty much totally contradicts the whole "everybody is up for sale" leak.

"The only thing I know is that I had a meeting and they promised that they never had any plans to let me go," Lewis said.

Don't confuse Payton's motivational tactics and media sensationalism for the truth. He is simply going off Bill Parcells-style this offseason, weeding out some locker room issues and getting his house in order. He knows exactly what he is doing and that team will likely be significantly better next year. If it's not, I will show up and take my medicine, but if anybody should know about turning a team around in short order, it should be Colts fans.

  4. You've been here two months.    Is this really the message you want to send?

I didn't call anybody in particular out, did I?

I suppose once I have been posting on this board as long as you have, it will then be acceptable to be as disrespectful to people as I have noticed you commonly are?

    Good to know.

  5. Trading one of their best players set off a lot of alarms. But as I've considered their moves more closely, I get it. I definitely don't think they're going to collapse, but the question is whether they can get to 10+ wins to secure the division. And that roster is far from complete as of today.

    Thanks for "getting it."

When you look at the big picture, they are getting younger and cheaper without downgrading talent.

-Lost Pierre Thomas, replaced with CJ Spiller - lateral move

-Lost Curtis Lofton, replaced with Dannell Ellerbe - lateral move

-Lost Corey White, replaced with Brandon Brower - possibly the biggest upgrade at any position, that any NFL team will make this offseason

-Lost Ben Grubbs, replaced with Tim Lelito - worst case scenario, this is a lateral move but Lelito is a promising young player that reminds a lot of people of a young Jahri Evans

-Lost Kenny Stills, replaced with ?????? - don't know who yet, but Stills is just the latest in a long line of #3 WRs that have come and gone. Anybody with decent hands and half a brain will be productive in this role.

-Lost Jimmy Graham, replaced with ????? - Again we don't know who yet. Josh Hill is already on the roster and has a lot of promise. Lest we forget, Graham was once a 24-year-old rookie with one year of college football experience. He owes a lot more of his success to Brees than the other way around.

-Lost Jonathan Goodwin, replaced with Max Unger - Huge upgrade here, Goodwin was a hot mess last year and Lelito was much better subbing for him, even though he was playing out of position.

Add in Jairus Byrd, who barely got to play last year before he got hurt, and Brandin Cooks, who was lost at the midway point. Those are essentially upgrades over the players that replaced them last season.

I am of a strong belief this team will go at least 10-6 next season. They may not be as talented on paper as the 2014 team, but Payton is weeding out issues and making them a tougher, more focused team. He put a far less talented team in the NFC Championship game in 2006 because they simply worked harder than almost everybody else.

  6. Graham (their best player outside of Brees) to the Seahawks debunks your theory.

    Graham plays defense,huh?

The total lack of knowledge around here regarding what the Saints are doing is reaching comical levels.

Which is understandable, I suppose; but for myself personally, I try not to talk about things when I don't know crap about them.

  7. LOL, whatever. I'm not arguing with somebody who just wants to act like a punk kid. Beat your chest and be all ornery, it makes no dif to me.

I should've known better than to respond to you when you tried to use that old worn out "Saints" nickname, but misspelled it. LOLOLOLOL. I guess we all gotta feel our oats some time.

  8. Miami execs went out on south beach and got loaded to the hilt when they dumped Ellerbee and his bloated salary on the aunts. Word was they were going to cut him. They lost Ben Grubbs who was a pro bowl guard . They also according to over the cap no not have an enormous amount of cap room for 2016. Over the cap is showing 129 mill for the first 51 in 2016

Ellerbe's bloated salary? He took an enormous pay cut, for your information. His cap number is less than 2 million.

Ben Grubbs may have been a Pro Bowl guard, but that just tells you how stupid Pro Bowl voting is. This is a player living on reputation only. He sucked last season and if you watched any Saints games you would not bother to argue with that assessment.

$129 milion committed means that they have $21 million in cap room (mathematics, it's your friend). A short extension for Brees (inevitable) will easily cut his cap number in half and there will be some other high-priced declining guys either cut or taking a paycut (Jahri Evans for instance, will not be paid $10 million). I expect at the very least they will have $40 million in cap space entering next offseason.

Next time you post, try not to be so uninformed.

  9. They've signed two major free agents in Browner and Spiller, traded for an All-Pro center in Unger, got a suitable replacement at inside linebacker in Ellerbe and cleared $35 million of cap room for 2016. The only player they've lost that is "irreplaceable" is Graham, who know-it-all fans nationally have been calling soft and one-dimensional for years. I don't think their cap management is horrid at all. They not married to any contracts past 2017 and will have an enormous amount of cap space after this coming season.

Do some research, think for yourself instead of listening to all the national pundits.

  10. Would rather sign Wilfork. Wilfork, Jones and Langford can play 2-gap all the way across the line. Basically it takes their 6 guys to block our 3.  Which means that one of your OLBs will usually get a one-on-one matchup against a running back on his way to the QB. If the 3 linemen are good enough, it also means the other team has to keep their TE in to block often. That is why 2-gap 3-4 defenses are all the rage right now. With Wilfork on the nose the Colts would be able to make a true-3-4 work.

  11. Three times now Payton has engaged in large-scale rebuilds:

In 2006, he completely gutted the team and started almost from scratch. The Saints went 10-6, won the division and went to the NFC Championship game. In 2009, he revamped the defense with free agents and rookies, hired a new defensie coordinator and they won the Superbowl. In 2013 he again revamped the defense, hired a new coordinator and brought in a few new offensive starters as well, they went 11-5 and won a road playoff game.

In fact, the only really good Saints team that WASN'T significantly retooled from the year before was the 2011 team which went 13-3. This man knows what the hell he is doing. When the Saints have a bad year, he fixes it, fast, and gets immediate results.

  12. Wouldn't call it rebuild mode. They're making some major changes to the roster to reshape the identity of the team. They want to be blue-collar, ground and pound like they were when Payton first took over. I think they'll be better than the 7-9 they went last year anyway.

  13. I'll tell ya'll what is going on here, and please keep an open mind.

Payton is essentially the GM. Loomis is the money/cap guy but Payton runs the show when it comes to personnel. What happened with last year's team was some locker room issues. A lot of young players - people think the Saints are an old team but they're really extremely young overall. Veteran leaders, guys like Strief, Brees, Ben Watson, and so on make comments about how there was a sense of entitlement in the locker room, that certain people weren't putting in the work.

I don't know that the Saints are going to be a playoff team, but this isn't a "give up" and it's not all about the salary cap either. If it were he wouldn't be looking to trade a 900-yard, 22-year-old WR making the league minimum. Trading Graham actually cost them a 2.5 million cap hit.

I think (well, I know) that Payton didn't care for the makeup of the locker room, team chemistry or whatever you want to call it. He is trading talent for leadership and veteran know-how - believe it or not, these aren't cap moves, they're football moves.  They've brought in a $5 million center in Unger and a $5 million corner in Browner. Both guys who are known for their leadership. They are going to be a slug-it-out blue collar team next year. That's what Payton did in 2006 when he took over. He was mentored by Parcells, remember.

I don't know that the Saints are going to be a playoff team next year. It's possible though; he built a team almost from scratch in 2006 and they went to the NFC championship game that year. But even if they don't, they're going to be a tough team to play against. Unlike this year's bunch of talented underacheivers.

In regards to the OP, I am not a fan of Cam Jordan. He is kind of lazy. I don't think the Colts need somebody like him around. Akiem Hicks, though, that dude is a beast. If the Saints try to get rid of him there will be teams lining up.

  14. Yeah.....

Except that Seattle paid a #1 and Unger for Graham and a 4.

That says a pass catching TE like Graham has a good market.    So can Fleener.    Not the same market,  they're not the same player.    But there is a market for Fleener.

I'm just not interested in shopping him.    I'm interested in using him and getting all that we can from him.   When properly used, Fleener should be a great weapon for the Colts.

And I would argue that Seattle gave up way too much for Graham. Shockingly so. I suspect we'll soon realize that Graham was a product of his QB and I think the same is somewhat true of Fleener. The difference is Fleener is not going to get slapped with that "superstar" label and drive up his perceived value.

  15. First impressions I guess? These last 2 years Fleener has been not only more available but more useful in both the run game and passing game. Allen started great but Fleener had not only closed but surpassed the gap imo.

That's not what I see. I see a guy who can be useful blocking DB's when he's on the move, or help on chips to the edge. And there's nothing wrong with that, it just means he's not a complete tight end and not every team is set up to use a hybrid player like that, which means he doesn't have as much value on the open market.

Same thing as Jimmy Graham, in a way. Great player, did a lot of things for the Saints, but when they wanted to run the ball they had to take him out and bring in Ben Watson or Josh Hill. So you pretty much have to have Allen, or someone very much like him.

  16. Fleener is worth a lot more to the Colts than he would be to any other team in the league because of his chemistry with Luck. I don't think he'd get a ton of interest, despite his good numbers. You could probably get a decent pick for Allen but then you have a hole because Fleener is not a true every-down TE.

I don't mean to come off as a Fleener-basher, I actually like the guy.
