  1. What's your point? We didn't win the division in 2012 at 11-5.

Yes. But imagine 11-5 and not being in the playoffs?  You are doing a poor job of creating a straw man argument. You said the Pats had an easy in to the playoffs every year.  Did you ever think that the teams in the AFC East all have to play the Pats TWICE every year?  The Colts could be 10-6 had they the AFC East schedule.  Probably even worse, as they would have played the Packers and the Lions.

  2. He's still better than most QB's by virtue of his brain, but the arm strength is just not reliable.

Stats can be very misleading. That being said I'd still take him over any QB not named Rodgers, Brady or Romo but he's fading fast. For him, he should be in the same ballpark or better than Rodgers or Brady but he's clearly not...I'd call that a pretty significant dropoff.

If you ask me who I want leading my team going in to this season I'd say Rodgers or Peyton...now it's Rodgers or Brady and Peyton isn't even a thought.

Still good enough to win it all with the Broncos, but there are better teams with better QBs out there so it will be tough for Denver.

Actually, someone posted a link to a story about Manning's mental mistakes in week 16.  The physical decline may not be the biggest issue.  Manning & Brady processed info at light speed and if that dips by even a little, an old QB with a "noodle arm" will fade at light speed.

  3. We all know that Seattle is a juggernaut, it seems like their defense can't be stopped. It seems like pundits feel that the Broncos can't beat Seattle, since what happened in Super Bowl XLVIII. Which AFC team in the Super Bowl..can beat Seattle if they get far?

Of course any AFC playoff team could possibly beat Seattle.

Obviously, New England. And if any other team knocks off New England, then they would have what it takes to beat Seattle.  Though I do think it unlikely that Denver would win after the way they stunk it up last year.

  4. And no one has really gotten famous for that since then.  I happened one time and that was it.

And I'm not sure Namath wouldn't be famous without the guarantee.  Remember he was the quarterback of the first AFL team to win a SB.  This is important because it was generally believed that the AFL was an inferior league.  I also think that helped paved the way for the merger if I'm not mistaken.

In sports, there are additional examples of bragging that played well for the bragger. Pot Roast just isn't one example.

Muhammad Ali is one example of a guy who turned out doing ok. Rex Ryan is like Pot Roast in that he failed to make good.

Namath sucked. Look at his stats. Aside from that SB, he has little else to hang his hat on. Someone wins the Super Bowl every year.

  5. Last year we beat the two Super Bowl teams in the reg season. This year, we beat what, 1 maybe 2 teams that barely made the playoffs, and that's it.

    Yes, this is regression.

Not to mention that being in a very weak division gives the Colts 6 games that they should easily win.

  6. Indeed. If Dener wins they can watch the NE game knowing their fate. If NE locks up the #1 Denver gets an extra bye week....if NE stumbles they play for #1 seed. Big game for both teams tonight. If Cincy starts loading the box to stop the run can Peyton make enough plays down the field....I think he can. A lot of tired legs and beat up guys on that Broncos club. Bye week was way back in week 4....so they are probably looking forward to a bye in the playoffs.

With his worn out arm, I would not bet real money on that.  We're hearing more and more of his "noodle arm", and from what I have seen, he is pretty much done.

  7. This guy is a scumbag and has a long history of dirty play. He punched a Pats defender in the head twice and also dove at the Pats nose tackles leg on a chop block when they were KNEELING the ball.

He's dirty and malicious with the intent to injure and they should suspend him for 2 games just like they did to Suh last year for stepping on a guys arm.

These types of players have no respect for the game or their fellow man while playing, and will stoop to any low necessary to get a win.

Suh is a good representative for the 3rd world city of Detroit.

  8. I mentioned quite awhile ago how I thought the Colts had regressed and was called a "troll," and basically invited to stop sharing as a less than "faithful" fan.  All at once my opinion is popular!  They played much better last year, period!  I have to blame it on the coaching staff.  Pagano is a nice guy, but not a head coach.

    Spot on!

  9. um, have they pulled Luck every time the OL doesn't get the job done?

Read my statement in context.  Obviously, they haven't.

So why pull him from a game where he and his team could gain playoff experience and possibly learn how to overcome adversity?

Because Pagano and his staff don't know what they're doing is why.

Luck has been in the league 3 years, and zero progress has been made in building this team.  Maybe some hyperbole has been used, but I think the point is obvious.  The Colts are not being coached up and they are not developing players.

  10. Of course there is a reason.  To protect the franchise!  We had a backup RT a 3rd string RG a Rookie C and a Rookie LG playing.  That's reason enough to not put your future at risk.  2 backups on the right side caused pressure EVERY PLAY... That's unacceptable, and a big reason they pulled Luck so early in the game.  I think we would both agree, Luck was better off on the sidelines after the game got out of hand.  Just as well TY didn't need to give 100% to risk a hamstring injury getting reinjured.  At the cost of nothing but perhaps dropping to a seed in the playoffs.  Regardless we have a home game WC and DEN or NE were not going to lose out.  So really we were playing for nothing.  Cowboys needed to win that game to clinch the division.  Mentalities and strategies are polar opposites.

Luck is not made of glass.  If you pull Luck every time the offensive line doesn't get the job done you would never develop the cohesive unit that is necessary to win big games.

  11. Given that mentality now, especially since we got beat so bad "playing to win", would you have changed your mind if Luck would've broke his right "throwing" arm because Nixon blocks like he should be on somebodies practice squad?  Or any other key player for that matter?

My point was we are a lock for a WC home game, but couldn't get a #1 or #2 seed (w/o extreme circumstances), so what's the point putting our players at risk?

I was very happy to see Luck benched so early.  The line was downright horrendous!!

What good is a WC game if the team is developmentally stunted?

You need all the games in order to improve and develop.  If they don't play, they'll never get better.  And these games are intense games that (could have) provided an opportunity to get some big game experience.

  12. I just read the rule book and I see nothing specific that says Gronk or any player can yell at players he dominates because he's not standing over them . Nothing at all that infers you are correct with what you state.

I saw the play in question.  To me, it looked like the Jet player continued pushing Gronkowski after the TD was scored and was lucky he was not called for roughness.  Gronkowski was likely telling him something about scoring anyhow.

  13. No they weren't... Goodness, man, you keep saying this, and it's so false that I don't even know where to begin. That team got blown out by the Jets and the Patriots, got taken apart by the Texans in Week 15, then got dismissed by the Ravens in the first round of the playoffs. How is that "sharper" in any way?

    How is this any different?
