  1. No offense, but if it's worthless, why are you paying attention to them?

I followed his Twitter feed just like every other Colts fan to hopefully see the message that he was re-signing Peyton. If I wanted to hear lyrics from a song, I would just turn on Pandora and listen to it.

  2. My biggest issue with how all of this came down was the fact that Irsay has always said that he would keep the fans informed of the situation. Since the combine ended, we have heard nothing new about Manning from Irsay. He continued to post song lyrics and worthless contests on his Twitter. Hey went from saying that he would keep us informed using every available form of 21st century media to shutting us out and making us resort to searching Peyton's name in Google to get the latest stories from around the nation. And how exactly did Chris Mortensen get the scoop to break this story?

Also, I would REALLY like to know what time this news conference will take place.

  3. I am sure that Peyton knows exactly how the people of Indiana feel about him. For 14 years, the fans have stood behind him and worn the #18 jersey with pride. As for a convention, I would love to see that happen. Of course, many of the former Colts players would have to wait until after they retire from the game. I still have a Faulk jersey that I would love to get signed.

  4. I believe he would have to be resigned next week because the official new year starts then. A press conference would make sense in this situation, to relieve fans and let them know the plan.

Peyton could be resigned tomorrow if I understand everything right. He isn't an UFA because of his contract expiring, but because the Colts aren't picking up the option to activate the remainder of his current deal. I am in the same boat as every other Colts fan and praying for a miracle. Wasn't Jim Irsay supposed to keep the fans informed on all of these developments? I find it strange that there is nothing about a press conference on his Twitter or on the Colts website.

  5. With all that Peyton has done for this franchise and meant to the fans, it would seem that this entire situation is being handled poorly. Before Peyton, Indiana had Hoosier basketball, the Pacers, and Notre Dame Football. The biggest rivalry for an Indiana team was IU v. Purdue every year. Peyton brought relevance to the Colts. He brought a championship to a professional team in Indiana for the first time. Situations before with legendary QBs leaving at the end of their careers had one thing in common. They were teams with storied franchises that had other pieces in waiting to fill the void and carry the team in some fashion until the next QB came along. Indianapolis doesn't have that. To me, it makes no sense to start from scratch with rookies, free agents, and a new front office. Football is a business, but it is a very passionate one. With the reports coming from the people that have seen Manning throw and this leaked video, it makes sense to take a chance on Peyton and pay the bonus. Free up some cap room with other pieces that are free to leave, find a FA RB that can take some of the load off of Peyton, and keep the Colts as contenders for the next few years as other pieces are put into place for the reign of Andrew Luck. We all know that it takes more than a summer to rebuild a franchise.
