  1. Getting better on both sides of the line every week ! If we stay healthy this team will be the beast we"ve been looking for IMO.

Just play Jacksonville every week and the team will look great and the fans will clamor, "Super Bowl."

  2. Yep I said it.

He is better than Richard Sherman.

Vontae shuts receivers down. After his day is over, he does not need to tell anyone about it. All he does is play man-to-man coverage for most of the day, shuts his side of the field down, smiles, and says thank you.

There has not been a better NFL corner in the 2014 season.

    Fan hyperbole.

  3. If this is a weekly list, Luck should have been #1 this week.

You obviously didn't see the 17 fourth quarter points Peyton put up or the 8 points to tie the game in the last 58 seconds against the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks? Luck got his results running up the score on the worst team in the NFL, the Jacksonville Jags. They got it right, Peyton should have been first.

  4. Slightly off topic: I'm just not feeling good about Griff Whalen on punt return duties. 21st mentioned this awhile back & I'm starting to agree with him.

Nothing against Whalen. I like the kid. I'm just not sold on his vision, ability to cut, & change direction. Put Moncrief on Special Teams & see how he performs there just as an experiment.

He is very good at catching the ball and keeping it safe. That is worth a lot. Moncrief does not have great hands. He catches by pulling into his body a lot. Whalen has great hands.

  5. I think our problem was playing Denver in Denver for the first game of the season probably worn us down because of the altitude. The first string isn't in full game shape yet. Then follow it up with Philly and we were gased. Our defense was exhausted against Philly in the second half. If we had a different team in the second game and Philly as the third game we would have beat them.

    If, if, if..... keep dreaming.

  6. no worries . . . sorry that you are incapable of understanding a QB's contribution to a football team . . . you certainly need help in this area . . . thanks for playing . . .

and I know deep in your heart you think Manning has zero to do with the Broncos success in the last two years and the fact that the colts went 2-14 in 2011 has zero correlation to Manning's contribution to the Colts in the years preceding . . . but then again there is something that tells me you may, just maybe, just think a little different . . . and hiding behind the keyboard, you to afraid to admit that lest you showing your colors as a double standard . . .

but that is fine take your one liners and hide your true feelings and opinions . . . it is no skin off my nose . . . I know where I stand .

but thanks for playing though . . .

The Colts would have been over .500 in 2011 and probably would have made the playoffs if Manning had been healthy. That is how much difference he made.

  7. Colts:

    QBhits+sacks in 2012: 95

    QBhits+sacks in 2013: 99

    Cardinals:

    QBhits+sacks in 2012: 105

    QBhits+sacks in 2013: 96

    Steelers:

    QBhits+sacks in 2011: 59

    QBhits+sacks in 2012: 64

Draw from this info what you wish.

Thanks, I asked about this and I hadn't looked down to see that you provided it. The total hits says more about exposed the QB really is but the sacks have a more direct effect on the outcome of games.

  8. I'm fairly sure someone posted a break down of QB hits under Arians across the Steelers/Colts/Cardinals showing how QB hits do get skewed upwards in his offense. When you consider that he's had two pretty good "evasive" QBs in Rustlersburger and Luck I do think his O lends itself to exposing QB to holding the ball looking for a big pay off on slow developing routes.

As a quick scan Luck went from 41 sacks under Arians to 32 sacks last season. Palmer however went from 26 sacks to 41 under Arians. I'd like to look into it deeper but can't until later. QB hits is not the easiest stat to find apparently!

I wonder how that looks if you consider all hits the QBs take and how many times they were pressured? I would expect that it will show the same thing but it would be nice to see.

  9. I had to edit this after I posed because after I looked closer we are actually #3 in scoring

and #2 for touchdowns.  I didn't realize it was different at first.

    http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&statisticCategory=TOUCHDOWNS&conference=ALL&role=TM&season=2014&seasonType=REG

#3 for total offense and #4 for passing. #14 for Rushing offense

Defense needs some work, but I expect the numbers to get better in the next couple of weeks.

    #17 against the run

    #28 against the pass

    #29 overall for total defense

I think that being 26th in scoring defense and 29th in total yardage after playing a cupcake like the Jags should be a major concern. Those gaudy offensive numbers are also inflated by the blowout a bit. I am hoping for the best here but that kind of defensive showing just won't get the job done. So what happens when we meet a great defense like the Texans? There will be less scoring. The Colts can still win but if the defense gives up 25 to 30 against Houston, it isn't likely. We got four sacks against the Jags. I think the Giants got ten the week before. The pressure almost all game from the blitz. We won't be winning 11 or 12 games if this doesn't improve.

  10. He right now is on his way to getting 39 touchdowns.

He is on pace for just under 4000

    and is throwing 68.3%

I don't think that means very much because it is all distorted by the Jags game. I wonder what other good QBs numbers would look like if they got to play the Jags twice a year. With all that said, I expect his numbers to be very good and the Colts won't go far if they are not.

  11. Who knows...they failed.

And as usual we hear "Fox's fault", "bad OT rules" and all the rest.

All I'm saying is that Harris' pot shot at Luck is the useless opinion of a losing football player.

Well, that losing football player had a good view of both of the QBs. They lost to Wilson but the beat Luck and were blowing the Colts out in the first half. I do not find his opinion useless at all. Your opinion on the other hand.......

  12. Luck: 912 yards 9 TD's 3 INT's 69% completion %

    Wilson: 651 yards 6 TD's 1 INT 69% completion %

    I'd argue it.

First, I think it is a silly comparison to make. Wilson plays for a much better team and he doesn't have to win games by himself. He also runs the ball well at appropriate times in the game and he protects himself well. Wilson doesn't have to score nearly as much to win because his defense is so good. Luck threw the ball 126 times. Wilson threw 87 times. The average per completion is 7.2 for Luck and 7.5 for Wilson. Luck's stats are inflated because of the blowout win against a very bad Jacksonville team. What do you think Wilson's stats would look like if he got to play those turkeys twice?

This will be the Brady/Manning debate of the future. Wilson already has a Super Bowl win and he played very well yesterday and got a win against a very good Denver team something Luck was unable to do. I still think the comparison is meaningless because of the vast difference between the talent levels of the two teams. If you had a complete NFL draft, I am sure Luck would go number one but Wilson would be right behind him.
