Joe Addai didn't fall off at all. He done exactly what was ask of him. He blocked for Manning and caught passes out of the backfield. Both of those he was very good at. Made a whole bunch of first downs. He should have been co MVP of the super bowl.

So IMO Joe was a bad example to use.

I agree Joseph Addai was a good blocking running back. He took some shots from bigger guys and kept on blocking did his job!!! Gore is a good blocker too, it pains me to say this about gore. I think Colts should use more of Mack this season and see what he is made of before we let Gore walk next season. What do you think?

But the truth is, we have no idea when Andrew will be back..

....according to them, there is no timetable....they haven't even seen him throw.,,,,.or so they said.

We can beat the Rams with Tolzien ..althouhg they'll certainly blitz him heavily....

......but they our GM and coach make it sound like they have no idea when Andrew will be back

I think Luck will be back by week 4 or sooner. Your right we have no idea besides he will be back when he is ready. If it is after week 4 I think we should've just kept him on PUP. Jacoby Brissett has said he is ready when ever needed. Now if that means we have emergency playbook for Brissett? If Tolzien goes out. I say we skip the Tolzien going out and play the Brissett backup playbook JMO.

I want the Colts to win but I have a hard time thinking Tolzein will do much against that defense.

I'll say Rams win 21-17. I think it'll be an ugly game with not a whole lot of scoring.

I wont be a surprised if we lose on the road.I think we have better chance with Jacoby Brissett even if he doesn't  know the whole playbook. I say we win with a AV winning field goal, (prediction made,). Vinatieri is going after Gary Anderson and then Morten Andersen everyone better have AV in fanatasy. IMO Lol....

The hits just keep on coming. Big hit to our already thin depth. We should nickname the Colts "Team NeverLucky".

Man you hit it!!! I have felt the same way had high hopes for Swoope and Doyle combo this year. Damn Injury bug is been a pain in the * for the Colts the past few years,.....

Proof - 25 of the players currently on the roster as of 09/04/17 were not there last year. So how can anyone predict how they will fare this season? We wanted a new GM, we got one.

    I like it-I think.

IMO, I believe Ballard will be better than the last GM. But the injury bugs have gotta stop, need a pesticide for them little critters. I believe we are a better team this year than last year. Gotta get past slow starts, and questioned play calls. The OL has to block for Luck better and Luck has to stop trying to do so much with his competitive mind thinking. I predict we are younger faster, stronger and getting better.

After deciding to waive Stephen Morris, and keeping Scott Tolzien, it appears the Colts are tanking. After pre-season, it was obvious that Morris was the better player. Having Tolzien as your starter, instead of Morris, gives the Colts a better chance of losing. If you believe that Scott gives us the same or even better chances of winning, then you are free to have your opinion, but would be incorrect.

Ballard inherited a mess of a roster, and implied during his introductory press conferences that this was going to take time. In terms of winning games, Ballard didn't have any sense of urgency.

If Luck will miss extended time, tanking makes sense. Our defense is horrible, and we need a star player on defense to get the ball rolling. Best place to find a star defender is picking high in the draft.

Is long as there is a franchise QB on a team as Luck getting paid what he is. IMO there will be NO TANKING!! Luck would never go for that!!! IMO He is to competitive.

My take is sit him all year for these reasons

    1. We stand little chance of winning more the 600% of our games even with an easy schedule.

    2. The OL is till not what is required to protect him.

    3. If the Colts start out 0-4 why being in Luck to play a lost cause?

    4. From a financial point is it worth risking an even more lingering shoulder problem? No it is not.

    5. If the Colts at going with Brissett then use this season to develop him in to a player that can win instead of an incompetent bum like the history of backups have been except for Hasselback.

    6. What if Luck is injured again and his ability is reduced forever? Then what? Huh? Then what? The Colts are an average team with only one hope until they build a better  team.

    1. you're probably right!

    2. right again depending how long he has the ball in hands(ask Chud)

    3. Have you seen his money he is making? He will play when ready!!

    4. Not a problem when waiting for him to be ready!

    5. Brissett already said he is ready when needed

    6. Colts been there and done it. It revolves around more than just Luck.

OK! So at the end of Round 1, we all get big fat zeros!

    :thmdown::scorebad::facepalm:

Who would have thought that Hooker would fall in our laps?

    :rock::headspin::applause::thmup:

And all of us who picked Foster and Reddick ... yikes.

That thing about Foster's shoulder being worse than it was, yeah that was not shared with the fans until tonight. And with Arians being an ex-coach for the Temple Owls we all should have guessed that Reddick would not get past Arizona.

Let's see if any of us do better tomorrow.

    Good night Colts fans! :sleepy:

I picked Derek Barnett to replace Conley, so my excuse is going to be that dang coin toss we lost for the 14th pick. lol Just kidding I like the Hooker pick. Never would've guessed him falling that far. Thank you to all the teams reaching for QBs.

No it's not that's fat weight. Your hormones are at their peak when your 25. After such you lose that peak of gain pure muscle weight. You have 18% body fat and I have 3% I'll be 31 this year.

Bodybuilders tend to shoot for 2% and 4% for a contest. But they don't dare stay that low after competition without compromising health and sanity. Are you a bodybuilder?

    The problem is that KC has a lot of crappy low picks and only a couple of good ones...27, 59, 91, 104, 132, 170,180, 216, 218, 245.

    The Colts already have 15, 46, 80, 121, 137, 144, 158.

To move down from 15 to 27 would cost KC their 27 and 59 and more
Ballard should just use the picks on players and pick wisely...if anything move UP using one 4th rounder.

And I hope we don't get talked into taking picks in next year's draft.

I was in the dark over this KC thing when I posted this thread. Didn't realize the cap situation they were in and what crappy draft picks they had. Bonehead post by me. But I did learn a few things by the post and found out why they might be worried about 10 picks. Appreciate all the comments.

I am not to sure about the moving up though. Do you think this draft might be a little pricey to move up in?

I agree it doesn't make sense. Draft picks are fairly cheap vs veterans. I mean they can't sign impactful free agents so the only way to get better is to draft well. You have to turn over your roster every 5-6 years and the best way to do that is to draft well and cut those expensive free agents. So why would you want to trade away cheap controllable talent if your in a cap bind?

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. But like NewColtsFan posted above against salary cap. Maybe they don't want to cut away a lot of players they already have and restructure enough contracts for 10 picks. Just my guess.

    Good questions....

If they're cut, and completely released,  then all that counts if their signing bonus.    Their salary would not count.

If they're cut,  but then re-claimed for the Practice squad,  then their signing bonus would count and their practice squad salary would also count.      A PS salary is much smaller than the salary of a player on the 53 man roster.

I think it's approx. 120K per year.     I'm likely off a little,  but perhaps not very much.     Hope this helps.

For future reference,  the person who knows all this the best, is, of course,  Superman!

    Yes this helps a lot.

All the contract and salary cap stuff gets confusing to me.

I just found it strange that articles say Chiefs don't have room for 10 draft picks. Chiefs claim to want some upgrades but no urgent needs. I asked myself. What team wouldn't want that many picks since there are so many hit and misses on drafted players?

So everything you have posted is making since of why they might not need the 10 picks.

    Thanks for your posts.

Up against it on the Salary Cap.      You have to have room to pay all your picks.

Teams can still trim away players, or restructure current contracts to free up money.

But this is the road block that teams face from time to time....

Draft picks that don't make the 53 man roster, either cut or signed to practice squad do they still get paid and does it go against the Salary Cap?

Reading the web sites from Denver, there is a strong feeling that the Broncos will take Stanford's Christian McCaffrey with the 20th pick in the first round.

McCaffrey has moved up on a lot of draft boards after his summer showcase workouts.

Some in Denver are concerned that the Colts will take McCaffrey to be the all-purpose...multi position threat Andrew Luck has never had.

But Denver doesn't know if the Colts will draft McCaffrey or not...We might want somebody we can get with the 20th pick

What would you want from Denver to switch the 15th and the 20th picks?    a 3rd round pick?  CJ Anderson?

Shane Ray and Bradley Roby!! Kidding...

I do believe Ballard is going to do some swapping for more pics. Surprised if it will be with Denver but you never know.

  19. 17 hours ago, jvan1973 said:

Yeah,  unless the team cuts the player like the boys did with romo.   I'm guessing the Seahawks won't be asking for much considering marshawn has said he will only come back to play for the raiders

So if Cowboys cut Romo. Does that mean Romo could comeback from retirement and Cowboys have no rights to him?

  20. Good question. I would like to see no-huddle more also. I miss the days of Manning, fast pace no-huddle games lighting up the score board and making other teams play from behind.

Does anyone have any new info on Lucks recovery from shoulder surgery?

Thought I would ask, tired of guys at work saying colt fans better be more worried about Luck being ready for the season.

Sorry to ask this question in this thread, unable to start my own right now. Not to computer smart and forum smart. I usually just come around and read every ones input on stuff hit the like button on things that I like.
