  1. Would love to have jimmie ward, but if not...then JOHNATHAN "THE MACHINE" DOWLING!!! The dude averaged a turnover a game...A GAME! A BALL HAWKING BEAST! I've said it before and i'll say it again. If i had a gun to my head and had to pick a safety...it would be dowling. I'm confident he'll explode in the NFL (if they keep him grounded) . The colt's work wonders with troubled players (rogers), so why not johnathan???

averaged a turnover a game? according to nfl.com's draft profile he forced 17 turnovers in his final two seasons... and he played at WKU which is a whole different level of football. how do you think he would look coming from playing wku competition and then playing peyton manning first game?

  2. Yeah I think so too but I'm just looking at the other side of this scenario. Let's say we cut all FB's and run a Alabama type offense with the one back sets. Could defense's still stack the box or would they play coverage?

I think having a FB in kinda shows your hand in a way.

But also without a FB, Spider Y Banana goes away too :(

A fullback does typically key which way the play goes. As a recent high school player, our coach always had the linebackers key on the fullbacks first step. And even if the play doesnt go where the fullback goes then they are running to the weak side where they have less blockers anyway, which usually works to the defenses benefit

  3. i feel like they definitely look at the draft class thats coming in, but one thing they cant account for is how and which underclassmen will declare for the draft. This year for example, there are like 90 some underclassmen who have declared. That's one reason why so many believe this draft is so deep...

  4. Who was Chris Johnsons qb last seaspn? And he still had a 1000 yrds and was shut down for most of the season. TThey're more seasons on the resume than last yr. And he had 3.9ypc. If Trent ever gets that, we'd be doing backflips. CJ would instantly make our O more dangerous and even feared. I dont see how anyone coyld argue that.

Trent Richardson's Qb was Brandon Weeden! He ran for 950 yards his rookie year! We traded for him and he didn't play near as well as expected. What makes Chris Johnson different? And in 2012 Vick Ballard ran for 900 yards on 3.9 ypc too! In no way does that make him dominant, or "feared". Chris Johnson hasnt had more then 1,300 yards in a season since he broke 2,000. He isn't elite. and he's already 28, the shelf life on Running Backs is very short, and speed is the first thing to go. All Chris Johnson has is speed.

  5. just going out on a very very very thin limb here, but could you image having Davis, Verner, Toler and Butler.....

Go even farther, imagine our secondary with Davis, Verner, Landry and Byrd. unfortunately we cant spend every cent we have this year

  6. Today i got a notification on my phone that said the Rams were planning on cutting cortland finnegan.. I would love to see him paired with Davis. That dude plays with the largest chip on his shoulder and would bring some much needed fire to our defense. It would also be nice to see him play against Andre Johnson again....

  7. They're both ILB's in a 3-4 I believe. I don't think there is a difference in how one of the 2 plays either. Could be wrong as I'm more knowledgeable in the 4-3 that my school runs.

ILB's jobs vary on there versatility and how the Defensive coordinators want to use them. If they are both of about equal talent in stopping the run and dropping back in coverage then they will split time doing each job, which is beneficial as the offense wont know which one is doing which. Obviously then if one is a better run stopper he wont drop back in coverage as often as the other linebacker does.

  8. I liked what I saw from McNary but haven't watched D'Qwell at all. I'm assuming he's a big upgrade over Kavell and Pat? Any opinions on this?

I've watched Jackson play twice a year for the last couple of seasons because i live close to cincy and i watch a majority of their games if they arent on at the same time as the colts, and he is pretty solid. He isn't the most instinctive player but he is a very solid athlete and is pretty good coverage linebacker. good tackler as well.

  9. Jules,

I'm with you on the Bengals spiraling down because Marvin Lewis is gonna miss Mike Zimmer on D & Andy Dalton crashes & burns in the Playoffs, but why do you think the Chiefs will slide? Their QB? The Chiefs are on the rise IMO with Charles on the ground & some nice pass rushers. I respect your opinion Jules, am no advocate for Alex Smith, but I am curious as to why you downplay the Chiefs.

You are under obligation to answer me BTW. I never want to force any of my friends to do anything they don't wanna do. Your hunches are your hunches & I respect that.

Why does everyone thing the bengals are going to slide and the Steelers will win the division? Have you seen there roster? If it werent for Dalton being so incredibly inconsistent they would have been super bowl contender. Them and the 49ers have the most complete rosters in the NFL outside of the Seahawks. I understand they lost both of their coordinators, but if you watched any of their games you would understand how much Jay Gruden held their offense back. Think about this, they had TWO TE's drafted in the first round and have a potential Hall of Famer in A.J. Green. Giovanni Bernard is one of the most dynamic backs in the league and he refused to even start him! when he was on the field their offense averaged more then a yard more a play then with BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Even our stubborn coaches eventually started Brown over T-Rich when he struggled

  10. Agreed. Strictly speaking, he was average last year. As a rookie, we shouldn't have expected much more. He sometimes looked good, but he also missed his share of assignments. That should get better with experience.

The most important point to make is that if he's playing next to a good C, his play will improve dramatically.

Exactly, I'd love to see what a center like Alex Mack could do for our O-line. Not only does he have excellent physical attributes, he also possess a great understanding for the game, which i feel like satelle does not have. So just having Mack call the blocking scheme will improve every single lineman on our roster.

  11. Im not positive if this is possible with our current cap situation, but i would resign Davis and let bethea go, replace him with byrd, cut erik walden and greg toler, satelle, aubrayo franklin. And sign Verner to immediately have the best secondary in the afc. I'd also pray Werner manages to produce and our defense would be one massive step closer to being elite.
