  1. we're not going to be a ground and pound team...dont have the folks for it

..and even if we did..that type of team is going to get outscored indoors...

I don't think our current roster is a indicator of what we will and will not be playing next year.

The roster has been completely purged and is being filled in with FA's. Also the draft is still weeks away.

I think it is incredibly premature to look at the roster as it sits today, and decide what type of scheme we will or will not be playing.

  2. We purge perhaps the G.O.A.T in Manning, one of the best TE's we've had since Mackey and let Saturday walk. And you guys are all sure DB will have 1k yards and want him to be the featured back? You think without Saturday and Manning DB will be better?

With all these changes you guys don't see Grigson/Irsay drafting RB at some point? This draft has serious depth.

No way we make all these cuts, all these changes to start Donald Brown again.....

Andrew Luck is going to need a rushing attack as a safety net and Donald Brown is your choice? If Peyton couldn't make him look good when he was setting DB up against defenses waiting for the pass then how on earth do you expect him to break 1k yards with a rookie QB?

  3. This is too bad. I watched him play as a golden gopher(because I live in MN) both him and Laurence Maroney were in the backfield it was fun to watch. Too bad they could never field a half decent defense. Anyway I always thought he would do better in the NFL and for awhile he was living up to expectations. I am surprised it is ending like this.

  4. Yeah, he really is.

Nope. Watch and see who starts and finishes the season next year. Garrard may not even be on the roster by seasons end. If Garrard was that good don't you think they would still have him in JAX, I mean have you seen Blaine Gabbert?

  5. Anthony Gonzalez has been with the Colts his entire 5 year NFL career thus far.

He was the first round draft pick (32) in 2007.

You realize that was rhetorical right?

  6. The Bronco's have IMO has the best slot reciever in the NFL. No not Stokley, but Erick Decker. I watched him at the U of M for years and he has had no QB and has become a beast for denver. I followed him closely in the draft and was disapointed how far he dropped. Peyton to Decker was the combo I have dreamed of, shame it would not be in a Colts uni.

  7. I remember Manning replying to a question on TV regarding how he feels about playing the Patriots so many times. He said, if he had the chance to play against a weak team several times, like... oh, I don't know... Oakland... that he'd be perfectly with that. That was back around 2010. He called out Oakland by name and basically said they suck and he'd be perfectly fine kicking their butts over and over again. Oakland has gotten a tad better since 2010, but not enough in my eyes to believe Peyton would enjoy playing for them.

I believe what you are referring too is the Americas game 2006 colts on NFL network, Peyton is speaking and says that he rather would have played Oakland in the AFCCG instead of NE because they had the worst record in football that year. I don't think he was making a general statement about the organization.

  8. I will man up as well. When Peyton began to choke up I also cried. All I want is to see him play again. I have forgotten what it looks like it has been so long. Sure I can go back and watch any old game but it is not the same. Wherever he plays next year I will drive there and I will watch him because this is almost the end and I don't want to take it for granted anymore.

  9. Carson Palmer and the Raiders win the division or wild card and silence critics.

At some point Sanchez is replaced as Jets starting QB.

Adrian Peterson makes a comeback and leads the league in rushing.

Steve Hill will have a terrible rookie year.

  10. I personally think Favre is one of the more overrated QBs to play the game....but that's just me

Had he retired after the loss to the Saints I think we would all be singing a different tune. Just my 2 cents.

  11. I live in Minnesota so going to a Colts game at Lucas oil is a big and expensive deal for me, that being said I have driven to Indy for 2 Colts v.s patriots games(both wins!). And I was there when Belicheck went for it on 4th and 2. When he caught it I thought for sure from where I was sitting that he had the first down. He did not. Peyton came out and we the crowd was silent. Peyton did not have to go far and when he threw that TD pass Everyone was hugging and high 5'ing each other. I did not know anyone(other then the people I came with) in that stadium but I hugged 10+ people and high five'd more then 20. It was awesome and a moment I will never forget. Everyone in that stadium knew he was gonna throw that TD pass, and he did.

  12. If we do not bring back PG85, then I think Reggie should be re-signed at a fair price. 2-3 year deal tops though.I believe he would be a good mentor for Luck and would treat him as "his" QB like he tried to do for Painter.

  13. Gonzalez was drafted to replace Harrison. The fact that Harrison was still healthy at the time isn't relevant, nor is the fact that Gonzalez started out playing the slot. You just need to look at the Colts drafting pattern before and since. IE: They try to invest #1 picks in positions BEFORE they are needed (Ugoh was to replace Glenn who was supposed to play one more year, Brown was to replace Adaii when his contract ran out, Hughes was to replace Mathis or Freeney when their contract ran out). You don't wait until your HOF caliber receiver is gone before you start breaking in a replacement. It takes 2-3 years of regular play for them to become key contributors. Under your assumption the Colts invested a #1 pick in a #3 receiver. That simply makes no sense, and that's not what happened.

I would agree with you however that Gonzalez did a good job. His injury history is frustrating, but based on what he showed in the past I would expect him - if healthy - to be the Colts number one receiver right now. Garcon can be special, but he's inconsistent. Collie is probably only effective in the slot, and Wayne - whom I absolutely love - is getting up there in years. Gonzalez has got a lot of talent, but who knows if he'll ever again be able to show it.

Our pick was 32 overall that year.... so saying 1st round pick doesn't have the same "ring" when your basically at the 2nd round. It's not like we broke the bank to bring him in and I guess I didn't think it was too odd that Polian was drafting a 3rd WR that high because well that is what building around Peyton Manning is all about, I mean Peyton loves slot receivers so why not draft them high? I mean by your logic a team should never draft a slot receiver in the first round.... Tell that to Percy Harvin....

But I also totally see your point that he was drafted so high perhaps he was viewed as Harrison's replacement down the road and that road just happened to come sooner then later. You may be right though.

I think we are some of the only posters on here who speak positively of Gonzalez and remember him for how truly fast and good he was for us in the past. I am optimistic about his future here if Peyton returns. (big if I know)

  14. Anthony Gonzalez was supposed to be Marvin Harrison's replacement. Needless to say, it never worked out that way.

Huh? He was drafted right after we let Brandon Stokley go and was meant to replace him.

Harrison just happened to suffer a season ending injury and Gonzalez was forced into a spot he was not drafted for. I thought he did a good job.

  15. Really? Wow, I didn't know

    It's an estimate

I'm guessing that often you get accused of taking things way to seriously.

If you have no idea then perhaps you should just keep those numbers to yourself and not respond to that poster.

Also I come on this forum for serious football discussion, I get enough of the social sarcasm you seem to love on a daily basis I don't need to go online for that...

  16. He may not coach but he doesn't have that much money. If you took Mannings average earnings over the last 5 years, he would have to maintain that earning level for about the next 400 years without spending a dime to match the Bill Gates' net worth right now.

I believe he is exaggerating for effect...

also, in those "average earnings" are you accounting for the endless commercials and endorsements he has done and will continue to do? If so I would be shocked that those numbers are public... We have always assumed Manning makes more or equal too in commercials and endorsements...

  17. Moore also built the 21-3 lead.

You're blaming him for not beating the Patriots????

Forget Miami.....Too many cold weather in-division road games for an aging QB

Sure he built the 21-3 lead. But he also did not score more then a field goal in the second half. He has to step it up if he wants to be the future of the organization. A field goal in a entire half? Against the worst pass defense in the league? Thats pathetic and I refuse to give him a pass because it is the patriots although you seem to believe he deserves it. Miami has beaten the patriots recently and won the divison without matt moore. So what good is a QB that can't beat New England? Why is it not his fault for blowing a 21-3 halftime lead against the worst pass defense in the NFL? I do blame him for that loss.
