  1. First, Well said!

Second, I completely agree with your opinion of Gore. I'd like him back to a) Retire a Colt b)Mentor the RB crew with the coaches to ensure we are adding the right RB c)Allow him to get his position in RB history as a Colt .

Third, as much as I really like D Buts, and hes given an lot of himself to the team and the community, I can't see giving him a raise, as he is nearing the end of his career & not likely to be more of an impact than he has been.As with Gore, he'd be a great mentor of his position for younger players.

I find myself feeling that Moncreif, as he started out being a shooting star, he's not been able to maintain that high level of performance in the last season.

Moving on, I agree that Mingo, Desir, Person and Bostic should be priority re-signings, as the team has got to keep more players that already know the team, and can make a difference in the 4-3 scheme. I mean, we can't replace everybody & expect to make the turn-around Irsay, Ballard & Reich have been promoting.

All others can find homes somewhere else, and best of luck in their new endeavors. These guys have not impressed, and may perform better in other situations.

With Free Agency Madness starting Wednesday, I think we can get a couple of difference makers, but I really cannot wait until the Draft to see what happens!

  2. Now that the Colts 2017 Season of disaster is over, and room has been made for a fresh set of eyes, hands and ideas at the HC position, I have a lot of hope for 2018. It was really hard watching this season, and I hope that all of the players that were placed on IR are healing well. I know that along with coaching staff, there will be a LOT of player changes coming. Some players I wish would stay, but I'm not getting paid the big bucks to make those decisions. Of the 53-man roster, there are 37 that I would keep, if anybody asked me.

    In alpha order:

Basham, Bostic, Brissett, Butler, Castonzo, Doyle, Farley, Geathers, Good, Gore, Green, Haeg, Hankins, Hilton(if he'll play like he used to), Hunt, Kelly, Mack, Melvin, Mingo, Mocrief, Person, Ridgeway, Sanchez, Sheard, Vinitieri, Vujnovich, Wilson, Anderson, Bray, Desir, Hooker, Luck, Mewhort(if he can stay healthy)Simon, Swoope, and Turbin. These men played their butts off this season, even knowing this was not going to be a good one. They never gave up and they played well together. And that was another key to this dismal season.

So many changes between OTAs and the final preseason game made it nearly impossible for the team to learn how to play like a team. It was so many guys playing to their position, not to the situation. Communication is so key in situational play, and those connections just weren't being made until too late in the season. By then, too many players were out on IR, injured, busted up, or beat down.

Something the team finally did well, we really learned how to run the ball. That is a piece that has been missing for the last few seasons. Frank Gore is the absolute best at what he does, and Mack is up & coming. The O-line were able to produce the holes needed, but still haven't been able to figure out how to successfully protect the QB with any regularity. The defense had it just as bad. Playing man-to-man when zone coverage would have been better, and vice versa. Red zone defense was kicked up a notch, but not getting the stops necessary to not get into those situations in the first place really needed to happen, and it just didn't. The last quarter of the season was really where the guys came together as a unit, but it was too little, too late.

So, going into 2018, those are the players I'd like to see the Colts lock up in contract, and get some new, really good, young talent to round out the roster. I don't know if our cap has room for my wish list, and a Head Coach like Bruce Arians, or someone who has a real fire in their gut, who can instill that same fire in the players. But what I do know for certain, is that I love this team, and have a lot of hope for the 2018 season.

Thank you Coach Pagano, for all that you've given to the organization the past six years, thank you Colts players and coaching staff for all the hard work, and thank you Colts organization, from the top down, for being here in Indy, and for everything you have done and all that you will do for our city!

  3. Well, I think it's great we get to go after Patriots this year.  Missed them during the regular season.  Hope Landry is OK after the concussion.  It's rare to return after one week.  We'll need his presence.

I agree. We got this. And Landry said he's fine on Twitter earlier. As happy as I was to see some long-missed players out there also, I'm thinking while Toler & Vontae were "game" ready, I don't think they were "Playoff Game" ready. I hope the coaches go back to what was working before, and clean it up. 'Cause someone finally went to the LOS lost-and-found, picked up the mojo that was missing, and got the thing done Saturday. We can't do that in NE... 'cause you know they won't give it back!

  4. I think Mathis is hungry for a Brady sammich

    You know it!

@Zibby43, Yeah, these guys "might" have been game ready, but not Playoff Game ready. As badly as they wanted to play & support the team, it just wasn't time. Rough year, and unfortunately helped in our defense having a rough start. Once somebody picked up the mojo that got handed in at the lost-and-found, it was all Colt's Ballin'!

  5. does he want a list of guys we lost.

lol... We didn't have anything to do with the Chief's injured players (they hurt themselves with careless play or ran into each other). I'm certainly not worried about what happened LAST YEAR... The Pat's are just one more stop on our way to NYC. Any given Sunday (or Saturday) folks...

Just remember... Three Little Birds "Every little thing gonna be all right" ...

  6. I'm Thankful for for so much when it comes to talking about, watching, reading about or even thinking about this Colts team.

I don't think I would be allowed to post it all here... Lucky for any of you that read this!

But truthfully, honestly, and passionately I believe in this Organization as a whole, and for the first time since they rode in on the moving trucks, I feel a part of the community and family that are the Colts.

I used to rant, and point fingers and get really indignant when I saw we weren't winning against teams I thought we should. And this was way back when I knew very little about football. (In the late 80's/90's). I have learned a lot since then. Thanks to the Manning era and Football for Dummies (Yeah, I know, but it worked for me).

I played basketball and softball in school, so when the Pacers, Fever or Indians are having it rough I can see and know why, and can deal. And now the Colts, who have had it really rough with injuries and personnel changes particularly this season, I now can see what they're doing and understand why. Do I agree with all of it? No. Do I still believe in our team, have a resounding YES! No, they're not going to win every game, and no, they're not going to make everybody happy all the time. Any given Sunday, right?

I lived next to the Colts complex for a couple of years, and got to hear a lot, even though the place is well secured and blocked so you can't see the outdoor practice field, and it was fun. I've watched games, listened to Bob Lamey's coverage, and even recorded games to watch over again to test my own IQ when it comes to picking apart plays. It's really cool when nothing analysts and experts say surprises me anymore.

I've survived cancer myself, so a minor link to coach is something I feel, I've run into players out and about, and I've learned to participate in these forums, read and reply to blogs, join chats, jump on to Google Hangouts to hear what others think. I feel more a part of this community through football, and the Colts.

Thanks coltsfanmilyman for your words today. Love hearing for people like you, and others that have responded!

  7. @Chip E. Man, you said a mouthful! Thank you for standing up and being counted as a REAL Colts fan. Much of what you said I have been thinking for weeks.

As for our remaining schedule, I am more worried about Bengals, Houston and Jax games than I am about facing the Cardinals. Bengals have been running hot, and Texans/Jax games would be real spoilers for us, regardless of their post-season chances.

And for all the negative folks out there, you try changing the company you work for doing the same job, with different tools, software, or methods without the benefit of training or one-on-one tutoring (ie. OTA, Camp, Preseason) and then honestly think about how you would perform in clutch situations.
