  1. You do realize that there is 16 running backs in the league with 2 fumbles. Theres 3 running backs with 3 fumbles. One of which leads the league in yards which is demarrco Murray.. im tired of people talkin about trich fumbling but yet praise backs that have more fumbles.

You obviously don't know what inB4 means.

  2. Below 50%? Anywhere close to 50% would be awful. I will be disappointed if we end up above 40%

Yeah I was thinking the average was about 50%, but I looked it up and average is around 40%. I guess I should have done some quick research before I posted. Thanks for pointing that out.

Detroit was ranked first last year at 30.33% and they're currently in second at 31.25%. The Colts are currently at the top at 29.69% but only 10.71% in the last three, which is miles ahead of everyone else. However, that also means that they averaged 44.44% in their first three games. I guess it's possible for them to keep it down around 30% at the end of the season, but I don't think it's very likely. I like direction the defense is headed, but they're not consistent enough yet for me to believe that they can maintain those numbers. I'll be happy if they're at 40% by the end of the season, and I would be thrilled if they can manage anything below that.

  4. and its only gonna get better with guys like jones and hopefully butler back and our o-line getting healthy.

I do agree that the defense will be better off overall with Jones and Butler back on the field. However, as far as the third down stops are concerned, I would expect those stats to start going down some over time. I just think it is unrealistic to expect them to maintain that for much longer. I give huge props to those guys for what they've done the last three weeks, and I do expect them to continue to do well on third downs (just not to the same degree that we've been seeing). Over the past 6 games, I believe our opponents have averaged 30% on third down conversions. I'll be thrilled if we can keep it below 50% through the full course of the season.

All of this is probably obvious to most of you. I just can't help but think that when things start to even out, many people will overreact and start calling to fire the coaches again.

  5. Your failure to make the distinction between total yards and yards per game was the error made and you know it.

I appreciate the attention you have been giving me last couple of days chasing me around the forum with your baseless opinions and illogical rebuttals, but I must ask that you raise your game if you want to continue this dialogue.

Trying to "catch me out" or whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish just isn't working and you come across as petty and juvenile.

    Oh, the irony...

  6.  QB: Kind of picking up the same theme as last week. Luck is going to have to snap out of it and make plays. His timing isn't good, his throws are sometimes off target, and he invites pressure rather than taking off with the ball. He could have ran the ball in on the first TD drive rather than dumping it to Bradshaw. There were other opportunities for him to run. He hasn't thrown the ball downfield to stress the secondary. I'm not too irritated with him for the pick, but it did take the go-ahead points off the board. C, I'd like quicker decisions and more playmaking

Hey Superman, I'm just curious if you have any thoughts on why Luck seems to be struggling like this recently. We all know what he's capable of, so I don't know if he's still just shaking off the rust from the preseason, or if something else is going on. I think most people are surprised because he's done so well his first two seasons and many of us expected him to keep progressing at a high rate. I still fully believe that Andrew is going to be an exceptional quarterback, but I've just seen some very questionable throws, and also just completely missing the open receiver at times. Do you think these early struggles are cause for concern at this point?

  7. A HAHAHA haha. The guy is garbage anyways. Knew he was a fad anyways. Should have been staying cousins for awhile.

Wow, first you laugh at the guy for suffering a serious injury, and then you insult him by calling him "garbage". I think some people forget sometimes that NFL players are people just like us. Its one thing to discuss Robert's skill set/abilities and his future as an NFL quarterback, but this is entirely different.

  8. What I'm worried about right now is the depth on the Oline going into the game on Sunday. As of now isn't Louis the only healthy reserve lineman? How could we possibly go into the game with only 6 offensive linemen? What would we do if two of our starters were to get injured? I'm really surprised we haven't claimed or signed an OT with both Reitz and Nixon sure to miss Sunday's game, and probably several more weeks after that for Reitz.

  9. Since we can't post links to other boards, I will just copy/paste some comments:

"Snarling at the guy opposite you does not equal good protection. Mankins definitely not the player he usta be. Hope he has big fun with the Bucs, though, but we don't need all the penalties he was starting to make a habit."

"I don't even care about the return (and Wright's a really nice piece coming back, potentially). Mankins is off the cap and GONE, that overrated *."

    So he was great, eh?

"Fact: Mankins allowed 11 sacks (or 28% of the entire 40 sack total) in 2014. #seeya"

Of course Pats fans are going to say that after the trade. How about you show us some of these comments from 2 years ago about how overrated he is, and only went to the pro bowl because of his reputation.

  10. I agree that could be a good thing.  Especially since, in the next year or two, the NFL will announce it's moving to an 18 game season.  Teams will need those extra players to handle the additional injuries.

If this does happen I hope they will increase the roster size to 55 or 56 players for the reason you mentioned about injuries. 53 just seems a little too low to me, even at only 16 games.

  11. Except the Pats did it in full view of everyone for years. They made the mistake of misinterpreting the rule change that said the video could not be on the sideline as long as the footage was not used in game. There was nothing covert about their intentions just ignorance of the new rule sent to all 32 teams and perhaps some arrogance as well and they paid the penalty.

If it was such a minor rule violation why were they punished so heavily for it? I don't know enough about the whole situation to say that you are wrong. I just don't understand why if it was something that every team was doing, and the only rule that was broken was the location of the camera, why it became such a huge scandal that resulted in a hefty fine and loss of draft picks. If what you say is true it sounds like a nonstory to me. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't get it.

  12. So on passing plays is it more effective to have 2 TE and 2 WR sets over 1 TE and 3 WR's? So would you guys rather have Fleener lined up out wide more often rather than having a third WR like Wayne/Hilton/Nicks? I personally wouldn't choose Fleener over one of those guys almost 100% of the time.

To be honest, I love football but I'm not super knowledgeable about the game like some of you guys. I could be wrong about all this, so maybe someone can explain the benefits of the 2 TE sets to me. I can definitely see how 2 TE sets can be really effective and can cause a lot of mismatches. I was just surprised when Allen says that him and Fleener won't be coming off the field no matter the situation, because I wasn't expecting us to run with 2 TE's almost 100% of the time. So does that mean we won't be seeing 3 WR's very often this year?

  13. Consistently one of the most injured teams year in and year out is a trend and a

    bit more than bad luck.

Couldn't it have something to do with the organization gambling on players with significant injury histories? We should know the risk when signing guys like Thomas, Toler, Bradshaw, Nicks, Landry etc...

Btw, I didn't mean this to be a shot at Grigs in anyway. It doesn't bother me if he wants to take a gamble on guys like them, as long as we have quality depth behind them in the event that an injury does occur (Which I believe we do). Losing Thomas definitely hurts, but it's not a huge surprise to me, and I don't think it is a huge surprise to our staff.

My point is that when you have a lot of guys on your roster with long injury histories you pretty much have to expect some of them to go down (and plan for it accordingly).

  14. See article from your own Indy Star sports writer Kravitz eight hours ago. It sums things up nicely.

Their situations are completely different, and I'm sure you are smart enough to see that. Brazill is currently taking up one of the 90 roster spots with no possibility of contributing to the team for an entire season. From here on out for the rest of his career he will be one failed drug test away from a one year suspension. How could this team ever put themselves in a position where they must rely on LaVon to contribute every week? We gave him several chances to get help and turn things around for himself. We could have dumped the guy after his first failed test, but we gave him a second chance. We could have dumped him after his second failed test that resulted in a 4 game suspension, but we gave him not a second, but a THIRD chance to get the help he needed.

So now that he's messed up once again we are somehow made out to be the bad guys if we let him go? We should give that roster spot to someone who can actually compete for a spot on the final 53. When it comes down to it this is a business, and when a player continually hurts the team and their ability to compete it's just bad business to keep them around. LaVon had every chance possible to get his head on straight, but he made his choices and now the organization must make theirs. I wish him the best and I hope he gets help if he really does have a drug problem. My point is that comparing LaVon's case to Irsay's is just being ignorant of the facts surrounding both situations. Their suspensions have totally different impacts on this team. You have to be able to make tough decisions if you want to run a successful business. This organization can't be afraid to release a player who has continually hurt the team just because someone might call it a double standard.

  15. Wow.

The NFL retaliates to Mathis' agent. This rarely happens. Sounds like the NFL doesn't buy Mathis' excuse.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/17/nfl-responds-to-agents-statement-regarding-robert-mathis/

“The drug for which Mr. Mathis tested positive is not approved by the FDA for fertility in males and is a performance-enhancing drug that has been prohibited for years"

This comment makes it sound like Mathis was making up a story that couldn't be true. It's funny how they didn't mention that although it isn't FDA approved, it is still prescribed to men "off-label" as a fertility drug. They did a great job twisting his words to not only make him out as a cheater, but as a liar as well. The average person who reads that article isn't going to know enough about Clomid to know that it can still be prescribed to men even though it's not FDA approved, so they'll just assume Mathis was lying through his teeth about the whole story. This is ridiculous.
