  1. As others have posted (But not using the following words that I will use about Brady), Brady is not as good as they say he is. Is he a top QB? Absolutely. Elite? Hardly. Plug in any monkey QB into Belichick's system and he will perform. Matt Cassell proved the point. So any QB the Patriots select will be the next Brady.

Look at the Eagles. It was a system also. McNabb couldn't do it anywhere else, Kevin Kolb sure as heck isn't good. Vick? All he wants to do is run with the ball. He has low 50% accuracy when throwing. With And Reid gone, let's see what happens.

  2. yeah, let's pass on a franchise QB,which is everything in the NFL,sowe can have a bad QB and great D.What is wrong with you?

All this talk about Luck being in the draft when we don't even know if he is going to forego his last year of collage does not a franchise QB make. And the 2000 Ravens winning it all without a franchise QB must have been forgotten too. A franchise QB, while is nice to have, is not everything in the NFL....you still need that defense. As for what is wrong with me? Wanting value for the #1 overall draft pick is nothing wrong. So you want a franchise QB? That tells me you have given up on Manning's return. Look at it like this....let's say we take Luck #1 overall...Manning is cleared and can play another 3 years....but we can't pay top dollar to keep them both under the new rookie cap...what do you do?

I have a feeling you would opt out of Manning's extension just to keep Luck as a franchise QB.

So let's look at it in another way:

Manning is cleared for another 3 years after being in practice for the last month of this season. You take the #1 overall pick...trade down for a top 10 pick and get value picks for the next 2-3 years...using all of those extra picks to find the next franchise QB. Because once Manning is back, Colts go into the 10-6 to 12-4 winning season for next year (If things return to normal, but since we are only guessing on everything, might as well guess that too). We use those value picks we made with the trade...what's the harm in that...I see none.

It's time to stop dancing around a subject that has no full weight until we see what happens to Manning's recovery

  3. FWIW, this Purdue Alumni (class of '93) doesn't share your optimism on Painter. In the brief period of time that Dan was in today, he looked a lot more comfy in the pocket and if not for some ham handed receivers, would have had some nice completions.

I must not have seen the same Colts-Falcons game as you....I didn't see anything noteworthy out of Dan....but then again....maybe he was getting the same play calling? I can say with 95% certainty....get better coaching and Painter would be better.

  4. I would have to give a big NO to starting Dan. Let me ask these questions to everyone....with the somewhat alright running game with Brown today...where was the play-action pass? Painter can run a no-huddle....why don't we go to it?

Sure, Painter needs to learn the touch pass, over time he will....just like the other things, like learning to step up into the pocket to avoid a rush....but this play does not dictate him being benched.

It all comes down to coaching....where does a team start? With it's coaching staff.

Being a Purdue fan...I stick behind the guy. And I will also blame the guy when I see bad play out of him....and while I have over the recent weeks...you can't tell me it is all Painter. He can only run the plays he is given, he's not Manning to where he can call his own play.

I AM of the 1.28% that wanted Painter to start and not get Kerry MOD EDIT Collins.

Has everyone gone blind to the way the game day plan has changed over the weeks? Forgotten that the games that we were leading going into half time to all of a sudden do a 180 on the type of plays?

And WOW...this thread really turned into the "I hate Painter and let's kill him"

  5. Not even a pro-painter post?

I have been a Painter fan since they drafted him....if my brother was alive...he would vouch for me. I was p***ed they cut Tommy Harris to give Collins $4 mil. Painter was the man...everything clicked for him the final pre-season game. And they bring in a "never was" QB with Collins

  6. I use to have this optimistic thing going for the colts but now.... idk what to say.

Friend....I'm a original Mayflower greeter. Seen the 3-13 years....never was bad as 3-13...I see 0-16 with Caldwell....like Peyton said to Jim Mora..."I'm playing for your job"

Peyton is not in there to play for Caldwell's job...and we can plainly see Caldwell's best coaching happening right now

  7. I honestly dont see how some of the coaches dont get fired after this season... you got players calling plays while they are about to snap the ball, no discipline what so ever..... Mike ditka would have put some of these players and coaches in their place if he was coaching lol

That is who I always wanted as our coach, Iron Mike Ditka. Let's look at some others that would be a good fit for our Peyton:

    Brian Billick

    Mooch

    Peyton Manning (Player/Coach)

  8. I have to agree that it is the coaching...it really all comes down to the coaching. Look at it like this....you have the best football mind on the sidelines and you don't give him a headset w/boom mic to talk in Painter's ear and call a play? Peyton can call a play after seeing the defense Painter will be up against while the no-huddle is being ran. That's just one thing to do.

Before last weeks game....Painter & the team had almost perfect first 1/2's then change the game plan in both second 1/2's and lose the games?

I am not saying Painter is the end all solution....but how can a coach not win games when you have had a person in the system for 3 years?

Caldwell took over a Dungy system and went to the SB. Second year...struggled to get 10-6....now looks like 0-16?
