  1. He didn't do it all on his own, and that's the common misconception here. People also forget that most of those wins were come from behind games against weak teams, and you cannot expect that kind of luck year after year. The same people who hail 12 as the Second Coming of Elway are sometimes the same who diss Manning, one of the best QBs of all time. Sure you can be billed as great, but what happened to that Leaf guy? Or that Russell guy? And no, before the 12 lovers jump on me, I am not saying he will end up like them, I am merely using a comparison.

I would not call wins against 3 of the NFC north teams a weak schedule - Green Bay, Minnesota, and Detroit, lets also not forget the win against the Texans at the end of the season. I was so dissapointed when Peyton was released, but I genuinely like Andrew Luck and think he did a great deal with very little that so many other QB's would not be able to do. Lets not forget other QB's that did nothing all season - Sanchez, Fitzpatrick, Lockner, Kolb, Quinn, Henne, Palmer... all starters, all seasoned veterans, and consisitent losses from all. Comparasions need to be done between Andrew Luck and the rest of the rookies out there. RG3 and Wilson having breakout seasons also, but look at so many more considered rookies. Tannenhill, Weeden, Ponder (2nd year) Kapernick (2nd year), Newton (2nd year) and backup Kirk Cousins.

If Andrew Luck were drafted in a year where he was alone, and there were not so many NFL capable rookies out there, he would stand out so much more. In my humble opinion he has great talent, and as this class moved forward, you will hear and see so much more from the entire group. Much like Peyton, Brady, Eli, and Aaron graduated into the elite and took over the reigns from the Farve era, you will see this group do exactly the same thing. Luck will be in the top of that pack.

  2. The face of the game is changing and the days of the Pocket Quarterback are falling. These guys are both legends in their times. Those times are changing. You are going to see more and more transition quarterbacks in the league. It started last season with Cam Newton, who paved the way for this years crop, Andrew Luck, RGIII and Russel Wilson. It also opened the door for Colin Kapernick. The Pocket QB's from the 2102 draft did not do so well, namely Tannenhill (Miami) and Weeden (Cleveland). As the league evolves, it will be more difficult for these two traditional pocket quarterbacks to extend their legends.

  3. its funny that after a loss in the AFC championship 5 players from Bill Belichicks team have dropped out of the Pro Bowl. One figuring that they never intended to go anyway because they expected to Advance to the Superbowl. Two, that they are either devastated, from the loss or are all being "sore" losers, or three, that Coach Belechick has forbid them to go as he is a poor loser and plans to take it out on his players.

The Pro Bowl is an honor, and moreover a reward for those players who worked hard all season for their teams. After Belichicks standard behavior after the loss . (To shrug off media and make excuses) It would not surprise me if it were the third.

  4. I live in NY and am often asked why I am a Colts fan, and not a fan of a NY team. (I will get to my point and how it relates to the thread in a moment) In NY we really only have one team - The Buffalo Bills, as both the "NY" teams play in New Jersey. There are many fans of all three teams in the area where I live, and Also many annoying Patriots fans to boot. As a temporary resident of Indianapolis, and having seen my first game in a Stadium there (1997), it makes it easy to be a Colts fan. Moreover, since there is no local team where I live, and such a diverse fan base here, (Albany NY) It also adds to that ease.

As a "fish out of water" being a Colts fan in a NY Market, I have often watched games from other venues to see how many fans of the visiting team are actually in the stadium. I am surprised that more and more, you see fans of visiting teams attending games, and this cannot all be attributed to travel. Many of these visiting fans have to live in the markets where the home team is. This can be attributed to more people moving in and out of these markets. Also the ability to see your favorite team play VIA increased television channels and media coverage is greatly increased from just 20 years ago.

Now on to my realted point. Do we need expansion teams, I think the biggest question is finding the markets to have them play in. ANY team can be supported by the outside market, and a fan base that can spread across the country. The real question is, can a fan base fill and support the staduim they are playing in?

Here in Albany we have never had a NFL level team, we did have - an Arena Football team called the Firebirds. They were Arena Champions a number of years in a row, and it was a sense of local pride to have that team here. Ultimately they could not keep the Times Union Center's seats filled - even with their asounding record(s) and the team eventually moved to - Indianapolis. So to illustrate my points - If a team cannot fill a stadium in a smaller market, it makes no sense to put a team there. The existing teams have fans outside of their local base, and those fan bases should be encouraged in smaller markets. This can be done by the occasional game being played in a smaller market - which could extend the NFL season by having 2 visiting teams play in smaller markets. This could easily bring on the extended NFL season and stimmulate the economy at the same time.

    that just my opinion
