  1. These division meetings./..its going to be close again....

I'm a little concerned about our team being EXPECTED to win ....it adds some weight to to the task

..we have so many rookies on offense..and we really havent beaten any one team decisively all season...

Feels like a trap game to me . The type where a team comes out a little flat and plays down to the level of their competetion . You can get burned that way . Pedal to the metal , get up on these guys early , play solid football the rest of the game and come out with a W .

Last min wins are fun ..... but it's time for a solid W . That's where real confidence comes from .

  2. I think they compliment each other very well as do Reggie and Donie Avery\

...I think we're really going to like this set of receivers as we get into the bulk of the season...

But I'm surprised folks dont seem to understand about how rookies have to adjust to the NFL

Yep . Its like moving into a new place and trying to find all the light switches with the lights off . It takes a while to get settled in . It's obvious some have it in for Fleener - for some unknown reason . Its pretty goofy . Whatever ..........
  3. Step 1 : become competetive

Step 2 : win winnable games

Lotta times being competetive means just taking what the D is giving you , and not shooting yourself in the foot by forcing things . Mistakes are there to learn from - it's not the mistakes you make that hurt you , as long as you learn from them and don't repeat them . Many guys need to learn from what happened today .

That said ..... there are several winnable games coming up , As long as this team starts with step 1 , it can go from there . Stay in the game and make a few plays at the right time .

It's a long steep hill . Sometimes you go straight , sometimes you just go sideways , sometimes you fall roll backwards and take a few bruises ..... but you keep getting up . And in time you get there .

  4. Every time I glance at this thread, I want to rip the eyes out of my own head....... :slaphead:

    This is painful. :wall:

    (Sigh.....)

Ignore it ..... I mean there are actually people commenting in here who have admitted not even watching the game so ...... lol ... whatever
  5. Arians needs to watch some of Fleeners college tape . He's most productive running long routes . Arians is using him like a traditional TE with the short routes . Is that letting a guy play to his strengths , letting him run the routes he's used to ? Probably has something to do with the drops also ( though I agree the kid has to man-up a bit more ) . Once the o-line gets better and Luck has more time , the longer routes to Fleener will be more productive ( if the OC takes the chains off and gets out of dinosaur mode ).

It all hinges on the line improving - then we have a dangerous combination at TE that will be able to play to it's full potential .

The 'tone' of some of these comments re: CF are garbage . The drops are his fault . The way he's being used isn't .

  6. I'm a Bears fan first Colts fan second , and I'll say this - if I was Bears GM ... and the Colts offered to trade Fleener for Kellen Davis .... I'd do it in a second . In the long run these guys careers are going to be exact opposites .

You can have your blocking TE , I'll take the guy who is going to be lighting up the scoreboard in due time.

    Just a thought .

  7. It took a while for him to ascend the depth chart in college ( which is normal most freshmen / sophs don't play alot ). When he improved enough and they started going to him , what happened ? 17 TD's . I'm a Stanford fan I watched his progress , didn't miss a game .

Yes he looks a little tentative but he looked the same way as he progressed thru college . He's adjusting and needs to learn how to get off the ball quicker - that's his biggest problem right now . That and the fact that the OC hasn't used him properly yet ( he's not a blocking TE per se but he has made strides w this every year I've watched him). But that isn't , and won't ever be the proper way to utilize his strengths , which is speed and dusting LB's .

Once he starts getting off the ball quicker, and thus getting 'open' , he'll flourish ( as long as the OL improves enough to give Luck enough time ). But he's got to do a better job getting open ..... cuz Andrew doesn't waste time w unopen guys. He'll get there ... after a while.
