CBS Sports projected 53 man roster

QB -- In (3): Andrew Luck, Drew Stanton, Chandler Harnish.

Out: none. Analysis: Well, Luck will probably make the team. In fact, barring any moves to add another quarterback, these three are safe. Harnish is a local product, and both he and Stanton looked sharp in the opener.

RB -- In (4): Donald Brown, Mewelde Moore, Vick Ballard, Delone Carter.

Out: Darren Evans, Deji Karim.

Analysis: Brown, Carter, and Ballard all looked solid in Sunday's game, and Moore will probably hang on given his relationship with offensive coordinator Bruce Arians from Pittsburgh. Karim and Evans, though solid, have similar builds to the others, so it will be difficult to crack that four-man rotation. The Colts are expected to bring on a few free agent backs, as well.

WR -- In (7): Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, LaVon Brazill, T.Y. Hilton, Donnie Avery, Quan Cosby, Griff Whalen.

Out: Jeremy Ross, Kris Adams, Jarred Fayson, Jabin Sambrano. Analysis: A lot of newcomers at the position, and Hilton and Brazill were impressive Sunday and have been throughout camp. Whalen sat out with an injury, but he could be a factor given his relationship with Luck, since the two of them played together at Stanford. This may be the most fluid position from week to week, as Whalen and Cosby are precarious, at best.

TEs -- In (3): Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen, Dominique Jones.

Out: Kyle Miller, Andre Smith. Analysis: Fleener and Allen are rookies expected to make a big impact right away, and Jones was used in short yardage situations out of the backfield against the Rams, perhaps cementing his roster spot.

OL -- In (11): Anthony Castonzo, George Foster, Jeffrey Linkenbach, Joe Reitz, Samson Satele, A.Q. Shipley, Mike McGlynn, Seth Olsen, Winston Justice, Mike Tepper, Justin Snow.

Out: Ty Nsekhe, Jason Foster, Zane Taylor, Hayworth Hicks, Steven Baker, Justin Anderson, Matt Overton. Analysis: The Colts have already experienced some injury trouble, losing OG Ben Ijalana, who was projected as a starter. McGlynn is currently out with a high ankle sprain, which could give others a chance to compete. Snow will be kept on as the long snapper.

DL -- In (6): Cory Redding, Antonio Johnson, Fili Moala, Ricardo Mathews, Brandon McKinney, Drake Nevis.

Out: James Aiono, Chigbo Anunoby, Jason Shirley, Josh Chapman. Analysis: With the new 3-4 front, the Colts will be forced to be deep at linebacker rather than on the line. They have some solid run stoppers, and Redding -- who was out with an elbow injury Sunday -- is a solid rusher off the edge.

LB -- In (9): Robert Mathis, Kavell Conner, Dwight Freeney, Pat Angerer, Jerry Hughes, Mario Harvey, Jerrell Freeman, Justin Hickman, Larry Lumpkin, Tim Fugger.

Out: Scott Lutrus, Greg Lloyd, Mario Addison, Jerry Brown. Analysis: This is an especially tough position to predict at the bottom, since most guys will be battling for special teams spots. Fugger has been out with injury early, but should get a chance later in camp, especially after Scott Lutrus was lost for the season. There will be opportunity to rise now that starting MLB Pat Angerer will be out six weeks with a broken foot.

DB -- In (8): Jerraud Powers, Justin King, Tom Zbikowski, Antoine Bethea, Cassius Vaughn, Korey Lindsey, Brandon King, Chris Rucker.

Out: Jermale Hines, Joe Lefeged, Mike Newton, Terrence Johnson, David Caldwell, Cameron Chism, Buddy Jackson, Antonio Fenelus, DJ Johnson, Matt Merletti, Latarrius Thomas. Analysis: The Colts secondary struggled mightily last season, and only Bethea, Powers, and Zbikowski are assured spots. Justin King and Vaughn will battle for the corner spot opposite Powers, but there is a lot up for grabs.

Special teams -- In (2): Adam Vinatieri, Pat McAfee. Out: Brian Stahovich. Analysis: This will likely remain unchanged.

I stopped taking it seriously when they listed Justin Snow as an O Lineman. Dont know why Quan Cosby is on the team either, and like the two above me mentioned, WHAT THE HECK IS CHAPMAN CUT FOR!? Ok ya all have to give me some credit at least I didnt do as bad as CBS

I liked what I saw from Chigbo Anunoby and Jason Shirley in the first game.

Would be shocked if they waive Chapman.

They not going waive Chapman just more likely be put on IR by week 5 if he isn't back wouldn't want him just holding a roster spot like we did with bob sanders that one year just put him on IR

I'm guessing they know Chapman is not getting cut....

They must have him going on IR for the season....

He's not getting cut. No chance. None.

The other issue that jumps out to my eyes.... is where they show (9) for LB's.... they actually list 10 names.

So, they've got a 54 man roster, not 53.

I don't care that Snow is listed as OL, that's not a crime.

But, I doubt we'll have as many OL and only 6 DL. That didn't add up for me.

Also, only 8 DB's and only 2 of them are pure safeties? The others are corners, some of whom can also play safety? Not sure that's going to work. So, that's a maybe for me...

It's not a terrible effort, but there are several Red Flags....

Just my 2 cents...

Chapman will still be here when the smoke clears. The idea of him of all people getting cut is laughable at best.

I agree there is no way josh gets cut at all... the guy was an absolute steal and the colts knew what they were getting.

They cut the wrong people. Chapman, Chism, Adams, Sambrano? Just cause Luck is friends with Whalen doesn't mean Whalen gets to just waltz onto the team. He has to EARN his spot

Adams was someone I have to admit I had heard nothing of until this weekends game. Sorgi and the other guy doing play by play seemed to be pretty high on the guys ability to play. Plus he is another big receiver. I couldn't see him getting cut, but he could always end up on the practice squad.

Why Griff Whalen? What is with people blindly giving him an edge over others? I thought Ross and Adams had a pretty good camp. And where was Whalen? That's right he hasn't really been there. But he was awesome in college wasn't he? No he actually wasn't all that good there either. Not even Ryan Whalen (the better of the two Stanford Whalen's) was very good, at least not in a way that just screams NFL caliber talent.

Why cut Chapman? Do you think most 3-4 teams keep 2 NT`s and 4 ends or YOUR idea of 3 NT`s and 3 ends?

Cosby looks GOOD, on the practice squad or K Adams who they seem to like SO FAR, Hit the road Whalen.

I do agree they will do something with Chapman. He probably should not play this year. Better for a big boy like that to have 12 months or more to get that knee right. We are in NO HURRY.

Like most have mentioned I stopped taking this seriously when they said Chapman would get cut. He was drafted to be the nose tackle of the future. I think what will happen is Chapman will make the final team and either be kept on the PUP for the first six weeks and if they don't think he will make an impact this year they will IR him and bring back one of the other guys.

This is just absurd.

7 WR's - Not gonna happen.

11 OL - Not gonna happen.

9 LBers - Not gonna happen.

Cutting Chapman - Not gonna happen.

They didn't even mention Moise Fokou who we just traded for a couple weeks ago.

This is just utter nonsense and a really bad attempt at something they know nothing about.
