Stanton played for the Jets, previously didn't he? That would mean he's familiar with Brian Schottenheimer's offense, right? Wonder if he's passed along any tips to the D?

Stanton was with the Lions. The Jets just picked him up THIS off-season. When Tebow was traded to the Jets....Stanton was traded to the Colts....never actually played with the Jets NM.

Stanton demanded and insisted to be traded because the Jets already acquired Tebow in a trade with the Broncos, who signed Peyton Manning as a free agent. Stanton signed with the Jets after leaving the Lions as a free agent himself. He only was a Jet for a week or two before he came to the Colts.

Sarcastic prediction: 8 blackouts.....nobody wants to see a 38-3 game.....they want a bend but don't win/Cover Nobody defense that pays LBs 7 yards off of the ball and and DBs 12 yards back.

Thank you for the aggressive style of football!!!

Thanks LOS. :) My head must have been stuffed somewhere this off-season, LOL.

Thank you :). I was getting pretty curious. Did he do a good job?

Sorry for the delay... The site wasn't loading because everyone rushed to see what we are talking about here. Sorgi was calling the game locally on WNDY, and did a pretty good job. Now that his clipboard is hung up I think he may have a new job.

Yeah, he did. He has a great voice for broadcasting, he knows his football, and his insight with the organization is a plus too.

Thanks again! I'll have to check next game to see if WNDY is streaming so I can listen to him instead of the TV broadcast. Glad he did well and hope he makes a career of it.

You're very welcome, BrentMc11. Hard for the expectations to continue with just one preseason game. Today's game was the battle of the two of the youngest teams in the NFL in 2012, the Colts and Rams. Maybe Colts management wants the team to be younger as a whole in the next few seasons to come, so the players we have now can gain NFL experience, and help the team become playoff-caliber again.

Andrew Luck's potential could be endless. I did have reservations when Jim Irsay waived Peyton, but this is a new generation of Colts players we are seeing transpire on the field, and my hopes and expectations are gradually getting high and confident, one play, one game at a time. Just my wishful thinking.

38-3 win today. Colts have a full practice week to prepare their next game against the Steelers. GO COLTS!

I forgot to make one point. I will ask a question: Does anyone wonder why Chuck Pagano put such a great emphasis on 'putting a hat' on each other in pads in this camp?

You are so right on the youth. Loved everyone's fun nature today....great times. Until next week :)

this was a great team win. a lot of guys stepped up and made one play or another. i realize it's just a pre-season game and that it was against the Rams, but if guys do that in the regular season, we're going to win a lot of games. we also seemed to get better as the game went along. that's the kind of thing that will go a long way.

of course, i'm impressed, yet not surprised with Andrew. i've seen him do this kind of thing live over a dozen times over the previous two years at Stanford. what i'm glad to see is that he seems to be picking up right where he left off in college. he's intelligent, poised and doesn't get rattled. those qualities -- along with several others -- are going to make him successful in this league. i could go on and on about Andrew, but i'm just going to leave it at what i just heard on the post-game show from Pat McAfee: "the kid is gonna be darn good, man."

doesn't that say it all?!

it was also great to see Stanton and Harnish play so well. a lot of receivers made great plays (Brazille is for real!). i wasn't sure about the defense, but they settled down and held these guys to three points. that's amazing against anyone.

i'm excited to see where the team goes. this is a great start. i hope we can build on it!

A very good game for the Colts overall. Still have concerns about the O-line when it comes to pass protection and also the DBs ability to play the deep ball...That's something we really should work on more.

Folks, today's game thread on the Colt's win and Andrew Luck's debut as a Colt will remain open in case Colts fans would like add additional comments during the 9:00PM game replay on the NFL Network. I also checked NFL Network's program schedule this week but unfortuantely, NFLN is not replaying again the Colts/Rams game after tonight.

    • Don’t like it, but they backed it up.
    • I think Manning and Condon engineered Manning's way out of Indy...and there's a decent chance Irsay was involved. That team was really bad...and Manning wasn't going to spend his last few years on a team with an aging crappy roster with little hope of getting back to the Super Bowl. I think Manning's legacy was incredibly important to him...and he felt he had unfinished business.   Manning's last contract was actually signed in the summer leading up to the 2011 season...less than 7 weeks before he would have the neck fusion. They were in a lockout that offseason...and it wasn't resolved until 7/25...so Manning didn't sign his deal until 7/31.    But at that point, he had had failed TWO surgeries (one in February and one in May I believe)...and still couldn't throw the football 5 yards. There is a fantastic WaPo article out there that chronicles Manning's neck injury and recovery. Manning knew he couldn't throw...and that it wasn't getting better...and because of this and him having access to the best medical care...I think Manning also knew what he would have to do...in regards to the fusion surgery and other treatments (like the stem cell treatment he got in Europe).   But the interesting part is that Irsay, who knew Manning better than just about anybody (and I am sure knew about the surgeries and maybe even Manning's current status), didn't bother to have even a basic physical before making Manning "the highest-paid QB in the NFL"...as he insisted on doing. I know QBs are treated differently...but that what type of business owner makes that type of investment without due diligence (or how does his inner circle of advisors let him). It would have been akin to Ballard giving Luck a big extension in the summer of 2017 when Luck looked like he weighed 170 lbs.   Either Irsay was aware of it all and was involved in Manning's exit...or he took Peyton at his word on his health and was ultimately duped.   But considering they both agreed to include a massive $27M option bonus due the following spring...essentially a poison pill that would end the contract if there even any question about Manning's health...I think it's pretty clear they both knew there was considerable risk due to Manning's neck. But the rub is that it was actually Manning (and Condon) who insisted on the roster option...and I think they did it because they knew what was coming and knew the Colts wouldn't/couldn't pick it up. And they even made the option decision due 5 days BEFORE the start of the league year...so that the Colts would have to pick it up to even trade him.   Basically...Manning would be a FA and would get to choose his next team to cement his legacy...and the Colts would rebuild...which is what Irsay wanted. And most of the fanbase would accept and understand why he left. It was pretty ingenious actually.
    • I want us to face them again in the playoffs and beat them, just like we did in '18 with the Texans.
    • I understand what they want it doesn’t make it right.
    • That makes sense, but the inconsistencies are what is bad.  Denver had no QB's but the game didn't get postponed.   When the Titans game was rescheduled, they only had 8 players test positive and 1 was a long snapper and 2 others were practice squad players.
