Lions @ Colts

  1. 1. Richardson gave many fans reason for optimism with 3 total touchdowns and a game-winning drive. How many total touchdowns will he have in this game?

  2. 2. Two weeks ago, the Texans nearly beat the Lions, limiting them to 26 points. Will the Lions score more than 26 points in this game?

  3. 3. Who wins?

  4. 4. Bonus Question: (Check all that apply.) What would you like to see happen to help the Colts win this game?

    • Colts have to score first
    • Colts should opt to defer if they win the toss
    • Colts should opt to start first on offense if they win the toss.
    • Limit the turnovers
    • The Colts need to run the ball more than they have been
    • Get pressure on Goff
    • Tackle better
    • Take the points (over going for it on 4th down)
    • Get touchdowns, not field goals
    • Score fast
    • Or sustain drives to take time off the clock
    • Keep the Lions offense off the field
    • What else? Write your thoughts in the comments.

Your Indianapolis Colts host the Detroit Lions in this early afternoon game. The Lions come in as the hottest team in the NFL, scoring 52 points in two of its last four games. However, the Texans picked off Goff five times two weeks ago. Can the Colts limit the Lions offense?

The Colts will need to keep the ball from the hands of the Lions offense to limit points.

Who's OUT?

Colts

Bernhard Raimann, OT, OUT

Detroit:

Terrion Arnold, CB, OUT

Ennis Rakestraw, CB, OUT

Alex Anzalone, LB, OUT (IR)

Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB, OUT (IR)

What are your thoughts on this game? Please post your comments about the game in this thread until the game ends.

Good luck! Enjoy the game. :colts:

I voted 1-2, yes, Lions, score first and limit turnovers. I don't think they blow us out, but I can see this being similar to the Bills game, like a 30-20 win for them.

In the last question, you can select more than one choice.

Actually, if you already submitted your vote, it may not allow you to change your vote.

I did, I selected score first and limit turnovers . I feel like if we score first that will at least put some pressure on them and if we win the turnover battle, the upset could happen.

I think keeping the Lions off the field is most important -- limit their opportunities. I remember years ago, there was something people would say about Peyton Manning and the Colts:

You can't stop them. You can only hope to contain them.

You have to contain the Lions to have a chance to win. JMO (I may vote in this one. 😂)

I think the turnover battle is critical, the reason why the Texans only lost 26-23 and was up 23-6 is because they picked Goff 5 times.

I think that is important too. In the Lions-Vikings game, the Vikings were up 14-0. However, the rest of the way, they gave the Lions too many opportunities. We lost 31-29.

Winning the turnover battle is crucial.

Yeah but at least being up early, it made it anyone's game. If the Lions jump out on us let's say, 10-0 or 14-0, it is over IMO.

For sure.

I'm going to leave  to let Colts fans discuss the game. See you later.

I am really impressed with the Lions, I have studied film on them, and they have almost no weaknesses. This team is actually more talented than any team the Chiefs have had overall, difference is Mahomes is better than Goff and I think Goff is good, Mahomes is just top 5 of all-time.

I would like to see AR pick up where he left off from the Jets game.

Even if Colts don't win, that would be progress

I think ultimately we lose today but I got a feeling LATU will have a great game… Sewell is amazing but I don’t think he  matchup well against Latu.. we’ll see.. expect AR to struggle for a qt or so but he’ll start to figure it out .. this game to me is barometer game.. we’re playing a legit Super Bowl contender, let’s see where we stack up and self scout because going forward we won’t see a team this good until playoff (if we make it)

We have a huge opportunity against one of the better teams in the NFL, and I think we find a way to get it done.

We will see but i am realistically thinking we get rolled today...

That will depend on how much AR has grown during his benching, and how well the defense plays. I like the fact that the game is at home, and if JT breaks off on a few long runs and we control the ball for the majority of the game and limit our mistakes, I could easily see us winning this game - on the other hand, if we get down a few scores against them early, it could be a similar outcome to the Bills game in which we lose by several scores.

Agreed it will come down to witch version of Richardson we get and witch colts defense shows up.

And everyone thought I was trolling when I mentioned this before.  I have no data to back it up    But I would guess that at least 1/4 of all ST's sold are brokers and corporations that use the tickets to make money or a perk for clients.

I am not.   I saw that they were already in Indy last night partying  and they already showed the Lions fans at the stadium doing their Goff chants.   Hopefully we play well and can keep them quiet.

I don't think anyone can complain if they themselves are not at the game. Those that sell their tickets spend thousands of dollars on season tickets and if they can get some money back by selling tickets, I don't see how anyone can complain. JMO

When I have gone to games, I always see a lot of fans of the opposing team. At times I have seen a sea of purple at places outside MN and the Vikings are not the Cowboys or the Steelers or another team that has fans throughout the country. Like you and @indyagent17 some Vikings fans complain about fans selling tickets to other fans. I don't think it is fair to season-ticket holders.

I HATE these uniforms they are wearing today!!!!!

I don't like any of those funny-looking uniforms. I like traditional uniforms.

I was a STH for years.     I sold tickets or gave them away or donated them back to the Colts for Military .   You can sell them to Colts fans fairly easily.  And you can tell who you are selling them to.

When I went to Minneapolis in 2016 (I'm not from MN), I was trying to buy tickets. Not one person asked me who I would be rooting for. (It was a Texans @ Vikings game.) They all wanted to sell me their tickets.

    • I think the most bizarre thing about our defense is that we give up so many 3rd and long's. Every time we get teams in 3rd and 7 to around 3 and 11, It's hard to watch because I expect we will give up a 1st down. We don't blitz enough, and I can't stress that enough. I was stressing it yesterday and the 1 time we did we blitz; we forced a Punt. If any QB (even if average) can sit back in the pocket and eat a steak and drink a glass of wine, will pick you apart. You have to get pressure on the QB to win games. Bo Nix will kill us if we don't switch something up.
    • I agree with where you landed on this. Just saying the objective is not to start a brawl or to show how tough we are. The point is that you defend your teammates, especially your QB.    We all remember the Giants game a couple years ago. But there have been other situations where our QB took a late hit, and no one even flinched in the direction of the opponent. There's a lot of space between 'giant brawl' and 'stand by and do nothing.' We're basically guaranteed to stand by and do nothing.
    • Even if Pinter doesn’t win the job he should be Kept as insurance if Kelly does not return. Pats don’t have a good dline ai they did have a easier job.   Steichen said this morning at his pressure good chance Kelly is back after the bye.
    • That's because a lot of you use poor play calling is as an obvious cover for poor play from players. Its the biggest falsehood on this board. and its repeated over and over.   There is no such thing as a play caller calling "deep plays" where three or four receiving options are going deep.  It does not exist in pro football on any regular basis.  AR has merely improved his decision making in where to throw the ball, which is what was expected by more PT.   Dirty pocket? well... recognize the pressure and use the ESCAPABILITY we re all supposed to rave about...to buy himself time.  He's supposed to be effected by dirty pocket less than Flacco is.   Mobility is for escapability.  Not for bowling over linebackers and safeties.  Which is the only thing SS changed,  calling more runs for AR.     BTW, isn't the short pass ARs weakness, and the deep ball his strength?  Kinda the opposite of every other QB that has ever played the game. What maroon coach would start a season by playing to the QBs weaknesses?  I swear you all just make up stuff to cover for him no matter what the facts are.
    • Rookie WR. It takes time. Even Marvin Harrison Jr. is struggling. It's pretty rare for a rookie to come in and immediately light it up. Though I will say LSU receivers seem to do it better than most.    I'm not worried about AD though. This season is great for getting him experience.
