Assuming he clears waivers, there's no cap change for 2024. They'll have a $22m cap penalty in 2025.

Wild series of events for Jones and the Giants. They obviously needed to move on, and they shut him all the way down to avoid anything that would trigger his future injury guarantees. He wanted to have a chance to play, and knew his time with the team was effectively over. So now it's officially over.

Was dumb giving him that extension at the price they gave him

Not quite as dumb as Cleveland / Watson but a very close second!

NFL should stand for "Money To Burn".

A "Sporting News" article said that the Vikings would be good fit for Daniel Jones. Sam Darnold is at the end of his contract and is projected to become a free agent. According to the writer, Jones could be backup to JJ McCarthy.

Jones might prefer to be starter, though, so it will be interesting how this ends.

I thought that too. I like Danny Dimes. I am not sure how good he is as a starter. He needs a good OL.

If you folks sign him he would have the best line he's ever played behind and receivers he could ever dream of.

I still think he could be a starter in this league.

You may be right but our OL is not great.

The Lions have a great OL. Tyquan Lewis is expected to play. Do you expect him to contribute?

Jones is expected to sign with the Vikings. I like the move. We have only one QB signed for next year; that is McCarthy. If Jones signs with another team, he will go into the Comp Pick equation.

A few years ago, Keenum, Bradford and Bridgewater were free agents all in the same year and other teams' signing them would have brought comp picks. Since we signed Cousins, that canceled out the comp pick that we could have gotten for Keenum. Bradford was released before mid-season by the Cardinals and that eliminated him from giving us a comp pick. We did get a comp pick for Bridgewater.

Not way better, more like Subway better, goes under the ground nevertheless....

Having seen how the coach KOC has been able to make QBs look better, I'd say Kirk reached his ceiling and that's all he could do utmost in his career - 1 playoff win in a year. And, that has happened only once in his career, an Once-in-a-decade event! And, the Captain would've earned half a billion in those 10 years, if we were to continue employing him. Way way costlier, like Airways Costlier than any of those QBs we had before him.

Vikings fans bash the Captain for only having 1 playoff win.

Going back to 2010, only 1 other QB has won 1 playoff game for the Vikings, that was Keenum on a miracle play. So, Cap has 1 playoff win which is tied for most with 1 other QB over 14 years. That tells me that is a coaching problem or the team playing poor defense for the playoff woes. No Vikings QB has had success in playoffs because the D has stunk it up. When the Vikings lost in 2022 to the Giants, that was not Kirk's fault. The D gave up 31 points. Vikings fans just use Kirk as a scapegoat because of the money he was making.

He better have won at least one game. He should have won at least three. He surely was paid for it. So, yeah, I expected more from him.

Daniel Jones won as many playoff games as Cousins and Jones beat Cousins head-to-head in the playoffs in Minnesota. Think about that.

Vikings defense gave up 31 points. Kirk and the offense scored 24, should have been enough at home. Blaming Kirk losing that game is like blaming Peyton losing to the Chargers and Bill Volek in 2007 when the D gave up 28. We scored 24.

Kirk has so many apologists. I would love for the Colts to sign Kirk.

    • I hope he can last till the Colts pick.
    • The more I consider it, the more concerned I get.  When I look at the first year statistical comparisons that I posted earlier, Mitchell looks a whole lot more like Phillip Dorsett than he does anyone else.   Mitchell - 13 games | 7 starts | 20 catches on 45 targets (44.4%) | 254 yds | 0 TD's | 19.5 yds/game Downs - 17 games | 9 starts | 68 catches on 98 targets (69.4%) | 771 yds | 2 TD's | 45.4 yds/game Pittman - 13 games | 8 starts | 40 catches on 51 targets (65.6%) | 503 yds | 1 TD | 38.7 yds/game Moncrief - 16 games | 2 starts | 32 catches on 49 targets (65.3%) | 444 yds | 3 TD's | 27.8 yds/game Hilton - 15 games | 1 start | 50 catches on 90 targets (55.6%) | 861 yds | 7 TD's | 57.4 yds/game Dorsett - 11 games | 0 starts | 18 catches on 39 targets (46.2%) | 225 yds | 1 TD | 20.5 yds/game Wayne - 13 games | 9 starts | 27 catches on 49 targets (55.1%) | 345 yds | 0 TD's | 26.5 yds/game
    • As we go through our discussions and observations for Richardson, we've mostly used two quarterbacks as comparison:  Josh Allen (for his early inaccuracy, strong arm, and ability to run) and Cam Newton (for his imposing physicality and strong arm). There's one other quarterback that I feel needs to be in the conversation: Justin Fields Through his career in Chicago, he was a phenomenon running the ball.  He ran for over 1100 yards in 2022!  But he had a lot less success throwing the ball.  So much so that the team finally decided to move on from him after only 3 seasons. I'm not saying "Richardson is exactly like Fields".  But I am saying that the comparison has merit, and bears watching.
    • I implore you to go back and watch the tape from his first 2 seasons. His accuracy was woeful.
    • Nice. I’ve heard people say they think he’s a 1st round caliber corner. I hope he goes to the Senior Bowl.
