Maybe it's lack of serious practice and training as the rumor was?  College talent needs to grow up fast in the NFL.  Sometimes they cut it and sometimes they don't!  Another thing, we need Ballard gone!

imo the colts have a serious lack of game changers on both sides of the ball. we seem to be a team filled with too many average or below average talents at too many positions ,  it seems to me that the elite teams have several game changers on both sides of the ball. is that the reason for our below average record?

That's been the issue with Ballard's teams.  A whole lot of Pretty Good guys, but not many (if any) Really Great guys.  Guys that will beat your best player.  Guys that will beat anyone, no matter who they are.  Nobody is afraid of our roster.  At any position.  No, we don't have "bad" players across the board.  Just nobody to be truly afraid of.  Not even JT, who still requires good blocking to break free.  We're Pretty Good.  We need Great.

Why I wanted bowers last year. Look what he’s doing for the Raiders. I think Latu has showed promise, but bowers has already been a game changer. We also badly need a play making TE.

Taylor is elite. Steep drop off from there

I’m not so sure anymore.  He’s very good, but it seems like we face RBs that do better than him almost every week.

Prob unpopular opinion, but I hope they draft a RB next year.

Trey Sermon ain't it. Goodson is meh.

I know shotgun isn't doing him any favors, but JT misses an awful lot of games for how much he's getting paid. He most definitely hasn't been the 2021 rockstar he got top #3 RB money to be.

Our hope right now is that

a) Richardson, Latu, AD, Downs, Pierce, Cross, and another defender like Jones, Brents, or Carlies develops into consistent premier playmakers.

And/or

b) We are able to actually get a free agent or two that can be that.

That’s what it’s going to take to have playmakers across the roster in the next few seasons. We are not likely to draft one (an Immediate playmaker) middle of the pack, which is where we are going to be until we take a huge step up as a franchise. It’s going to be on some of those guys developing into that and any free agents we can pull.

Any one of the young players you mentioned could turn out to be elite.  They just need more time.  After all we are one of the youngest teams.  Drafting an immediate playmaker is very unlikely.  I loved it when Ballard traded our 1st for Buckner.  Hopefully he does a similar trade with our 1st pick this year.

I will reiterate there is a big difference between liking your guys and loving your guys.  As stated above, we need more guys that we love.

Thats a fair assessment. Looking back, other than "maybe" Luck, Hilton or Leonard we have to go waaaaay back for one of those type players

When Ballard revealed the Colts had tried to move up in the first round of this year’s draft, I always suspected that Bowers was the target. I do think he was trying to get the game changer but couldn’t find a partner to dance with.

That said, the Colts do lack big time playmakers and it shows. They’ll have to suck it up and sign a FA to get one IMO.

Related to the discussion here, there was an interesting post on Reddit that showed Ballard as having a low rate of drafting All Pro players compared to most other GMs - and the three All Pros he has drafted have been at positions that aren't considered as having the highest impact in today's NFL - OG, WLB, and RB.

Yeah but he went before the colts and it’s been confirmed that the Colts called multiple teams to trade up and were told not interested

perhaps, but tell you what and you know already a lot of teams in the NFL have games changers and stink, did stink and will still stink. So maybe not the players fault with the Colts.

Exactly why we have a great, sweet lots of money salary cap to use each Spring.Just In case the management wants to use it?

Without trading up, Bowers was not available at our pick.  I also wanted Bowers badly on this team, but Latu is progressing well.  I wouldn't mind seeing some great players to be either drafted or developed though.

How bout those Jets! They have gone all in ...one of the most talented teams in the league. I wonder who they will face in the Super Bowl????

Just think about it, The issue is it took a year and a half to figure out Richardson was not putting in 100% so it tells me Shane has to go. The lazy culture is killing the team from the top down. These same players played better last year and now with the disconnect we can see why this team is so mediocre

Just think about what? AR5 is still a boy/man with his age. Shane is still learning himself as a head coach.  He doesn't need to be a babysitter either.

A lazy culture? Not hardly.

I think only offense is missing is game changing  te and better back up rb. On defense we need someone  will get us off the field routinely  on 3rd and long

shh. It’s not the narrative they want on this forum.

“Culture is lazy.” lol. Not one person on this forum is in that building.

We need a top 10 QB. AR has to become a really good passer. That doesn't happen we aren't going anywhere.

 A "shut down corner.

Carlies to be really good and another LB that is very good also.

Kelly will be gone, and Smith maybe one more year. Their replacement is here.

😄 This is with AR should have been addressed the first month he got here. But just now we are hearing he is going to other meetings with the O llne and he said he will put in the work needed.  Thats on Shane! There should be a standard for every player in the class room, meetings, Weights and running but it was not enforced on him until last week

We do have Rigo Sanchez! He did pin some punts way down deep when we needed. Reminded me of the Chargers punter that sealed our fate in playoffs..game changers!

Since you mentioned Rigo I read an article where the number of successful field goals has dropped significantly in the league this season.  Once reliable kickers are now missing.  Tucker and Zierlien have missed at least six so far and not just from long distance.  Many other kickers have also fallen off.  I saw it on yahoo sports a few days ago.

This sorry team with no game changers beat a team last Sunday with two legitimate game changers in Quinnen Williams and Davabte Adams. You could potentially put Breece Hall in there as well. No, I don't consider the current iteration of Aaron Rodgers a game changer.

You, me nor anyone else has a clue on what is or was going on behind closed doors. Pointing a finger at anyone serves no purpose when none of us have first hand knowledge of the situation.  If you believe what the media puts out you are being bamboozled.

It’s what many of us have been saying for years — the Ballard era is defined by mediocrity. Can AR become elite and lift all boats? That would be awesome.

i wanted bowers also the raiders are a mess ballard may still be able to work a deal for him in the off season, but he probably wont, imo bowers is the next kelse or gronk.

They need a quarterback.  They might like our 1st pick to help them acquire the 1st pick in the draft.

How about Sauce Gardner?   His first two years he’s considered a top 5-10 level corner.

Thought about adding him, but heard he hasn't been quite as good this season. His first two years he was definitely a difference maker.

Are you serious? Are you listening to the team? I’ll just talk about Richardson having to work harder in the classroom and to be a better pros pro? I guess I’m missing the point here somewhere. Just listen to Shane and you’ll see what I’m talking about I don’t know why some of you just don’t get this

    • Bengals have come up short whenever they have been matched up with an evenly matched talented team. Teams like Ravens, Steelers, Eagles fit the bill. Burrow's OL has the 11th best pass protection and that is why he has been on fire, high accuracy rate too. Bottom line - does the Cowboys offense have enough bullets to affect the leaky Bengals' D? That is what it comes down to.   2 primetime games on Thursday Night vs Ravens and Sunday Night vs Chargers, Bengals have lost both. Now, they have the chance to make it the trifecta on Monday Night vs Cowboys. We will see. Cowboys' win over the Commanders is what is giving me pause from saying the Bengals will win it in a slam dunk fashion with the 3rd primetime being the charm , given that the game is in Dallas.   My gut still tells me that the Bengals are a bit too talented for the Cowboys to keep up with their offense for 60 minutes. Good luck to everyone!!
    • Yeah I hope Reggie is on his guys. Some of it I think is just chemistry as they play more and more with AR. Some of it is also using a guy like granson deep when that is not even his game.
    • Huh. Just because you don’t have WR doesn’t mean it wasn’t accuracy issues. lol
    • I think they resign Fries and Glow.  That’s a no brainer for me.  If Kelly still wants to play and he might not I would expect they would offer him a contract.  It won’t be top of the market so it won’t hurt the cap and you can’t underestimate the importance of team chemistry and experience.  If he really wants a bigger contract then they will let him move on but I expect he will want to remain in Indy and take the home town discount.
