Don't  talk about playoffs you kidding me.  I just hope we can win a game

It's a fun way for me to waste some time and fantasize about the Colts.  Not for everyone I suppose 😛

Game at Broncos will be for all the marbles for the No.7 playoff seeding when it is all said and done. But then, we don't play well at Foxboro either. Nothing is guaranteed with this team, need to see more consistency from AR for us to get far.

10 is the number. That means 5 wins out of the 6 left, most likely means winning the last 5 games. But we should be favored in at least 4 of those. the broncos games could be the difference. A win there might get us in with 9 wins.

Week by week. If AR can continue working and show consistency like he did Sunday, I don’t care about a playoff. It’ll be enough for me to not be down going into the offseason.

I have to agree with other people on this post. We barely beat the Jets, let that sink in so we beat the JV team and now the varsity team comes in on Sunday if Richardson plays well and beats the Lions then that’s a different story but talking about the playoffs right now when we’re one game under 500 with a team that is without an identity is ridiculous to talk about at this point. I’m all for trying to bring up different forms of conversation during the week, but I just don’t see it happening.

Everyone keeps talking about the Broncos game, but really if we want to make it in, we need to win them all.  If we lose to the Lions and Miami wins all the games they are supposed to, they would edge us out of the Wildcard spot as well.

That's why I said it's a longshot.  I will also say this, as I've said before.  Winning cures a lot of things.  One game at time though, I suppose.

I agree. Playoffs would be great but AR’s growth is where it’s at this year.

I would much rather talk about the possibility of making the playoffs than what Jets, Panthers, Giants and Jags fans are talking about right now.  I’m feeling good about where we are right now.  Not perfect but I’ll take it.

Always was going to be.

I wasn’t a fan of the benching initially, but seeing his performance and the team playing with some passion on Sunday changed my perspective. They are definitely behind him and that process. Highs and lows, like we thought it would be. We need more of what we saw Sunday.

Huh? They have 7 games left and will be underdogs in at least 2 of those, most likely 3. They are a game behind us, and we beat them, so they essentially have to finish a full game ahead of us. I don’t see your math.

Looking at the Broncos schedule and ours's, 9 wins will get us in IF WE BEAT THE BRONCOS. Broncos more than likely will at least lose 2 more games with at Chargers and KC left + they play us. We more than likely we lose to the Lions but then win 4 of last 5 + a win over the Broncos. 9-8 and 9-8, we get the tiebreaker. This scenario is very possible. ESPN and the NFL Network only has us around a 30% of getting in, but looking at the whole picture, I have us at 50% of getting in. Mainly because of our schedule and we play the Broncos. The Bengals are 4-7 right now, I see them at best at 8-9 now with the schedule they have.

The Broncos are our main competition for the playoffs.  Their last two games are against Cincy, who may be out of it and not motivated, and KC.  We have to hope KC is still fighting for the bye or they may rest guys.

The Chargers will be going for a playoff spot, so that’s not going to be easy.

We can actually afford to lose Sunday and still get in.

Yep, even we lose Sunday we are still ok.

That Jets game saved the season, had we lost that we would have been screwed.

The playoffs would be nice, especially for the veterans on the team.  I don’t think anyone seriously expects us to go far.

More importantly is the continued development of AR.  Maybe if he shows he’s the man, Ballard will bring in some needed help…probably not, lol.

We can get the best of both worlds. Playoffs and AR getting better. What is fun is, we have a chance to get in, just like last season. We still may not be SB contenders but being at least relevant makes things worth watching. Had the Jets beat us, by ESPN Compu box, we would have had a 5% chance of getting in Homer Simpson Laughing GIF by FOX TV, as of now they have us at 30%.

Dolphins aint beating all of the Packers, Texans and 49ers, there is 1 loss in there and we have the tie breaker over them.

So we have to go 5-1 the rest of the way, with that 1 loss likely to the Lions, so based on form, the Broncos game looms largest. However, it is much easier said, hard to do. As we found out in 2021 and 2023, desperate teams in December means more upsets and we could end up 3-3 and no shot at the playoffs.

I think both the Colts and Broncos probably finish 9-8, we get in if we beat the Broncos. I picked the Colts to go 10-7 before the season and that is still possible though. Broncos will probably lose at Chargers and to KC. KC will probably need that game for either HFA throughout, or to get a #2 seed which gives them 2 home games. Chargers and Bills both did us a huge solid on Sunday. Regarding the Bengals, they still play at Baltimore and the Steelers twice and are 4-7, they are toast.

Fantasy: We get to 10 wins, go 10-7, and get to the playoffs as the #7 seed.

Reality: We end up at 9-8 again, miss the playoffs again, and stay with the current GM or coaching staff...again.

I can live with 9-8 as long as AR shows improvement and shows that he can be a long term solution at QB.  The one game I would have liked back though was not the Jags or Bills game...it was the game at Houston.  Being 6-5 with that win would feel so much different than being 6-5 with a different win.

I still think 9-8 will get us in, Broncos have a tough schedule, we don't.

The game I would like back is that horrible game versus the Packers with Malik Willis at QB for them.

The Texans game at Houston as well. That swung everything the Texans way regarding the Division, and we wasted a great defensive performance in a 3-point loss.

The Colts are a grind type of team that is for sure. All of our games have been decided by 8 points or less (1 score games) with the exception of the Bills beating us 30-20. In games decided by 8 points or less we are 5-5 = law of averages. 5-6 overall.

My point exactly for picking that game.  We would both be 6-5 with a split against each other.  A running play and then a kneel down at the end of the 1st half would've made a huge difference.

I continue to contend that the playoffs should NOT be a primary goal this year. AR development,  growth and evaluation. Goals no. 1, 2 and 3. Sure... getting to the playoffs might be a signifier of certain growth from AR and it would give us even more opportunities to evaluate him and opportunities for him to raise his play to another level... but... for now... don't skip steps. Lets see if he can continue executing and if he can stack some good performances.

That INT killed us, if I could only pick 1 play to take back out of all the plays and games we have played, it would be that one. I think we win if it is 10-10 at Half.

I agree with you mostly but why not both + that would give AR Playoff experience. It would also be nice to watch a Colts in a post season game since we haven't had one in years. 2020 season was our last Playoff game with Rivers.

If chiefs and Chargers have their seed locked up they could rest their starters against the broncos

I must say - the playoffs were not even a thought as I basked in the gentle glow after the Jets game.  Was just happy to enjoy the rare occasion of a 4th quarter comeback.

    • The more I consider it, the more concerned I get.  When I look at the first year statistical comparisons that I posted earlier, Mitchell looks a whole lot more like Phillip Dorsett than he does anyone else.   Mitchell - 13 games | 7 starts | 20 catches on 45 targets (44.4%) | 254 yds | 0 TD's | 19.5 yds/game Downs - 17 games | 9 starts | 68 catches on 98 targets (69.4%) | 771 yds | 2 TD's | 45.4 yds/game Pittman - 13 games | 8 starts | 40 catches on 51 targets (65.6%) | 503 yds | 1 TD | 38.7 yds/game Moncrief - 16 games | 2 starts | 32 catches on 49 targets (65.3%) | 444 yds | 3 TD's | 27.8 yds/game Hilton - 15 games | 1 start | 50 catches on 90 targets (55.6%) | 861 yds | 7 TD's | 57.4 yds/game Dorsett - 11 games | 0 starts | 18 catches on 39 targets (46.2%) | 225 yds | 1 TD | 20.5 yds/game Wayne - 13 games | 9 starts | 27 catches on 49 targets (55.1%) | 345 yds | 0 TD's | 26.5 yds/game
    • As we go through our discussions and observations for Richardson, we've mostly used two quarterbacks as comparison:  Josh Allen (for his early inaccuracy, strong arm, and ability to run) and Cam Newton (for his imposing physicality and strong arm). There's one other quarterback that I feel needs to be in the conversation: Justin Fields Through his career in Chicago, he was a phenomenon running the ball.  He ran for over 1100 yards in 2022!  But he had a lot less success throwing the ball.  So much so that the team finally decided to move on from him after only 3 seasons. I'm not saying "Richardson is exactly like Fields".  But I am saying that the comparison has merit, and bears watching.
    • I implore you to go back and watch the tape from his first 2 seasons. His accuracy was woeful.
    • Nice. I’ve heard people say they think he’s a 1st round caliber corner. I hope he goes to the Senior Bowl.
