This has been my complaint for several years, now.

After this play, the runner got away with a flagrant foul!

Why is it that this runner can get away with grabbing the face mask and then keeping his hand on Jones’ jaw and not getting penalized?!

To upper management, do you have the guts to make this a new violation for the future in the NFL?

This sucks!

Mr Irsay, do something about this!

A runner is not allowed to grab....and hold..... the face mask of the defender.  In this case, the runner simply pushed Jones' face mask, but did so violently and persistently it ended up taking off his helmet. I think that is a penalty.   Refs missed it, IMO.

I agree.  I would have really been miffed if that Jones kid would have gotten a penalty for.tackling out of bounds.  His head was so far back there was no way he could have known where the sideline was.

Pushing the head back like that is very dangerous.  They call it on linemen on both sides of the ball.  Why not runners??

It is called a stiff arm.  Been around football since the beginning of time.

Players have bigger face masks now compared to years ago, so it looks worse.  But it isn't illegal nor should it be.  As long is the fingers do not grab the mask?  All good.

If the nfl was concerned about player safety, the stiff arm to the face should be a penalty.

With that being said, I’m more upset with the shot to head Pittman took when the game was still in question. Took a shot while attempting to catch a pass is a penalty. No flag. SMH

The refs missed a lot of calls as usual Sunday night. And it wasn't one sided either. Our only touchdown score with the fumble recovery probably should've been called back due to Darnold being punched in the face.

Actually... Stewart punched two dudes in the face that play. Threw the center down by the face and then Darnold.

Probably should've been a penalty. But man... what a mauler he was Sunday night.

The runner actually can’t get away with it, they are penalized just like defensive players are. The penalty is just called rarely on the offense it has to be blatant in order to be called on an offensive players. Stiff arming the face mask is not a penalty, if Jones had grabbed it for sure that would have been illegal.

From the other angle Jones' helmet was almost off.

Stiff arms use to be around the shoulder pads. I don't know how the NFL allowed it to devolve into this ...

You must have not watched Ladanian Tomlinson in his prime. He had one of the most impressive stiff arms I’ve ever seen and it was exactly how jones used his. Palm to the face mask to give yourself distance between the defender. It’s not a penalty unless he actually grabs the face mask and you can most certainly stiff arming without grabbing the facemask.

You and I must be from different eras. This began in the late 80's.

What other position is this acceptable, other than the ball carrier?

Answer, none.

If the NFL is so concerned about player's health, particularly the spinal cord, they'd look into this. To try and defend this is ludicrous. In my humble opinion 😁

Correct me if I’m wrong but In the history of the NFL I don’t believe there has been a single injury that has been caused from a stiff arm. Once again as a ball carrier putting your palm on a players facemask is NOT a penalty which is the point im arguing. He didn’t grab Jones facemask he pushed it. Now if Jones helmet had been strapped properly I’m certain it wouldn’t have come up/off. To argue that a Spinal cord injury would occur from a stiff arm is ludicrous. I urge you to show me one case of a spinal injury occurring from a stiff arm in the NFL. I’ll wait…

You're not very proactive.  😂

How is a stiff arm by a runner to the facemask any different than illegal hands to the face by an offensive or defensive player?  Looks like a penalty to me and that’s a thing I have always thought.  Simply looks like a dirty move, so says a guy that grew up playing hockey.

Hands to the face is exactly that.  Just because straight arms have been used doesn't make it right or even fair for the defender. Limit the straight arm to shoulder pads or any other place except the defenders face mask.

Most of the injuries sustained by using a straight arm are what are called Stingers.  It damages the nerves in the neck/shoulder areas. Using the straight arm method is not free from injuries.

Time for my F/U…

Great responses including the one to provide proof of spinal cord injuries.

I cannot provide any proof.

Someday, I would like to ask Peyton why he needed neck surgery. Maybe another issue, or not.

A lot of studies and modifications to protect the brain with special helmet designs but what has to hold up all that weight?

Answer: The neck!

For those of you that played sports

and have cervical neck problems because of sports, you would best understand this topic.

( Or, for those of you that were stiff armed for trying to plant a kiss on a girl for the first time… the move was “Denied!”)…okay, scratch that.

But I want to reiterate that this topic is to stop this action because only runners are getting away with stiff arming the face mask…without penalty.

I did bring up this issue several years back after I saw Josh Allen stiff arming one of our lineman’s face mask…It would have been a great opportunity to do the “anti-stiff arm Polamalu takedown.”

Just take a look on YouTube’s videos on Derrick Henry’s and Josh Allen’s

stiff arming tacklers…wow, yikes, ouch, dang, ooo - he’ll feel that tomorrow!

(Oh, and we play the Bills soon, huh?)

So, if this topic doesn’t get any responses from the authorities, my next topic might be
