Latu is going to be so good for us, I don't doubt that.

It's a travesty the rest of the team is all over the place.

The 3 position groups that let us down this year are LB, TE OL. OL gets a excuse for playing 3 rookies but the other two have no excuses for playing so poorly.

I think the lbers and tes have talent.   I think the scheme is the problem.

If that talent means lack of awareness (Granson) awful hands (Ogletree) awful blocking (Ogletree). Low impact (Mo). Also do get me started with the Lbers TEs and RBs get career days against them lol.

For tight ends, heck no.  We saw what we have in the tight ends yesterday.  I’m out on woods as well because he can’t even stay healthy enough to get on the field.

regarding lbs, I think it’s a combination of both the scheme and talent.  We don’t have all pros at lber, I’d call them average to above average.  However, when you have a scheme to call for your linebackers to do more and something that they’re not good at, then that average-above average goes to bad.  For example, it was one particular 3rd conversion.  The lbers were in the “right” place, just too deep.  It was a 3rd and 9, and the tight ends caught it underneath right in front of them and ran to convert the first, no missed tackle.  A BETTER LB with more talent would’ve probably moved up inside of the sticks to prevent the possible YAC despite the scheme .  But because of the LBers we have aren’t good enough, they played a yard or two back too far and allowed the YAC to happen.  Either way, it’s a problem because we have LBers who might good enough, but it good enough to play the scheme.

You can win with iffy offball backers.  You can still have a good defense as well.  Investing in your rush and your corners, and just take shots on the backers midrounds.  Worst case you're gonna need a thumper for early downs that you cycle out.  Some teams can take advantage of that, but if your front and coverage are good you can get away with not having stud ILB's.

If your DL is very good it makes life easy on your offball types too.  Nothing worse than playing mike with OL constantly pulling second level in your face.  Much better if they're needed to double your stud DT's.

    • Allen had zero receivers to throw too those first years..he didn't just magically get better with accuracy his third year ..he got better cause diggs joined the team..
    • I hope he can last till the Colts pick.
    • The more I consider it, the more concerned I get.  When I look at the first year statistical comparisons that I posted earlier, Mitchell looks a whole lot more like Phillip Dorsett than he does anyone else.   Mitchell - 13 games | 7 starts | 20 catches on 45 targets (44.4%) | 254 yds | 0 TD's | 19.5 yds/game Downs - 17 games | 9 starts | 68 catches on 98 targets (69.4%) | 771 yds | 2 TD's | 45.4 yds/game Pittman - 13 games | 8 starts | 40 catches on 51 targets (65.6%) | 503 yds | 1 TD | 38.7 yds/game Moncrief - 16 games | 2 starts | 32 catches on 49 targets (65.3%) | 444 yds | 3 TD's | 27.8 yds/game Hilton - 15 games | 1 start | 50 catches on 90 targets (55.6%) | 861 yds | 7 TD's | 57.4 yds/game Dorsett - 11 games | 0 starts | 18 catches on 39 targets (46.2%) | 225 yds | 1 TD | 20.5 yds/game Wayne - 13 games | 9 starts | 27 catches on 49 targets (55.1%) | 345 yds | 0 TD's | 26.5 yds/game
    • As we go through our discussions and observations for Richardson, we've mostly used two quarterbacks as comparison:  Josh Allen (for his early inaccuracy, strong arm, and ability to run) and Cam Newton (for his imposing physicality and strong arm). There's one other quarterback that I feel needs to be in the conversation: Justin Fields Through his career in Chicago, he was a phenomenon running the ball.  He ran for over 1100 yards in 2022!  But he had a lot less success throwing the ball.  So much so that the team finally decided to move on from him after only 3 seasons. I'm not saying "Richardson is exactly like Fields".  But I am saying that the comparison has merit, and bears watching.
    • I implore you to go back and watch the tape from his first 2 seasons. His accuracy was woeful.
