Ballard's Brainchild: The Colts' Quarterback Time Machine

Alright Colts faithful, I'm starting to think Chris Ballard has a secret obsession with vintage quarterbacks. Forget rebuilding, he's running a retirement home for signal-callers. And the latest resident? None other than Joe "Grandpa" Flacco.

Now, I'll give credit where it's due. Flacco can still chuck the pigskin with the best of 'em. But watching him "lead" the offense is like watching a dial-up modem try to stream Netflix. Sure, it technically works, but it's slow, painful, and makes you question your life choices.

Remember all those rookie mistakes Richardson was making? Well, guess what? Flacco's making them too! Except he does it with the mobility of a rusty shopping cart. By the time he decides to scramble, the opposing defense is already halfway through their post-game interviews.

So, what's the takeaway here? Ballard benches the rookie for being a rookie, then replaces him with a veteran who plays like... a rookie with arthritis. It's like he's trying to create the world's most confusing quarterback paradox.

Look, I get it, the QB situation is a dumpster fire right now. But this whole Flacco experiment is a comedy of errors. #FreeAR is trending again, and honestly, I'm grabbing my pitchfork. At this point, what do we have to lose?

Maybe, just maybe, it's time to admit this time machine experiment has gone wrong and let the young guy learn from his mistakes. Otherwise, we're all just going to be stuck in this endless loop of geriatric quarterback purgatory. And frankly, I'd rather watch paint dry.

As long as Ballard is the one steering this rusty busted shopping cart with 3 wheels, nothing is going to change.

Two wheels. One is just for show.

AR is not ready and is too raw.    He needs more time in the oven before he can be served.

Scott Tolzien, Jacoby Brissett, Brian Hoyer, Philip Rivers (old), Eason, Ehlinger, Wentz, Ryan (old), Minshew, Richardson (extremely raw) and Flacco (old). These are the qbs that Ballard thought we could get by with. Even though Rivers did decent in his only season with the shoe by utilizing the short passing game the narrative was that he was washed coming from the Chargers. Same with Ryan and the Falcons. Nobody even called Flacco in the offseason after his horrible playoff game in which he looked like he needed to return back to the couch. Same with today. Old man Flacco is not the answer nor is the meh built team that Ballard has constructed either.

The problem seems to be an attitude of "getting by". The Colts don't currently have adequate skill or resources to develop young, raw players. Historically, they seldom have had those resources. This causes the Colts to spasmodically jump between old veterans and young raw players in the game. That's a bad idea, IMO. The fans could understand that it takes time for a talented player to develop skills IF those skills were actually being developed. Congratulations - we have the worst of all possible worlds.
