  1. 1. Who starts week 1 next year.

    • Anthony Richardson
    • Joe Flacco with new contract
    • Another veteran quarterback
    • 2025 draft pick

We need to see if Shane and Ballard come back first and that will somewhat depend on what happens over the rest of the season.  If they do the chances of it being Anthony or Flacco will be a lot higher than if they dont.

If I were part of a new regime it would be hard to come in and bet that Anthony is the answer.

We won't have the draft position to get another starter in the draft. If it's not AR it's going to be another vet. Winston is who I have money on. I wouldn't mind AR learning from Winston. Similar style.

Let’s say the Colts wind up drafting in the top 10 and there are quality quarterbacks on the board that are more vetted and have a longer history of playing well in college. Do you take a quarterback here? I’m just saying it’s all together possible there could be a new quarterback  in 2025

Crazy how we went from the most stable QB situation ever for almost 15 years to musical chairs every season at QB.

Honestly i think you have to(if you're a high pick) and I was all in on AR until after 2025, but now with that tap thing and I'm sure he's gonna look at the franchise sideways and not really be 'all in' anymore after how ask this has played out.

We gotta keep swinging unfortunately.

or Andrew Luck

You couldn’t give me Jeff Bezos type money to ever let that quitter near this team again

We've got a quitter and a tapper in Indy history now... Lol

There's no way the Colts don't start Richardson next year without admitting they made a huge mistake at the QB position YET again. Frankly, I don't think they should be benching him now when what he needs more than anything is live reps. They knew this when they drafted him.

If there’s someone out there who can be the guy, you get the guy.

The Cardinals did it. I’m not saying it’s right, and I’m not saying right now today you give up on Richardson.

But at the end of the season… you look at everything and then see one of these next college QBs and feel they’re the one?

You have to go for it. You have to keep trying until you get a franchise QB.

I’d classify both as quitters. One just did it permanently, the other, yet to be determined

Daniel Jones.

Is that who you want? I don't believe the fans here would be pleased with Jones.

I'm already on record as saying (NCF's objection noted!) that if we have a completely new quarterback room next year, Ballard will not be here.  SO!  What do I think will happen?  It will either one of two things:

  1. Richardson starts next year with a brand new veteran backup and a brand new QB draft choice from round 4 or
  2. A veteran QB will be starting (Andy Dalton?), with a brand new QB drafted in the 1st round (Cameron Ward?)

My vote was for #2.  But I hope I'm wrong!

Kurtis Rourke.

What's the skinny on this guy? I haven't seen him play yet but 24 years old, multi year starter, good size and leading an undefeated big ten team. Why isn't he higher in the QB draft rankings? Too old? Not mobile?

A combo of not elite arm strength, age and lack of mobility but great at reading defenses, accurate as can be, a leader and winner. Better then his older brother former Jags Qb and Cfl player Nathan.

The fact that we have no idea and that even Ballard probably has no idea should be the final nail in his coffin as the Colts GM. In year 3 of his new top drafted QB, we have no idea whether he will be starting for us or not. This is fireable offense on its own. Without any of his other multitude of problems.

And I have no idea either. IMO it depends on who the GM and who the HC is.

I guess AR has the highest chance to start simply because he's the only one under contract for next year... but this is by no means high chance IMO. It's something like... 20-25% chance he starts? Maybe 15% it's Flacco... 35% it's another vet/retread, 25% it's another rookie?

I highly doubt that Irsay fires Ballard no matter who the starter is next season.  Ballards reputation is alot better outside this forum.

The fans want another rookie to draft with a hope and a prayer that he is a franchise quarterback.  I want to win now with this good roster.  Jones is only 27 and is playing on a bad team.  He has won in the past and knows how to win.  Leading our offense I think we would be Super Bowl contenders.

Crazier things have happened. Let's hope for the best.

I think Ballard is gone after this year and I also do not think AR will be starting next year... not sure if we keep him, try to trade him etc...   But I also do not think we will be picking high in the 1st this year.  I think we will finish with a good enough record to make the playoffs (if Flacco, Taylor and other important players stay healthy).   We are 14 points away from an undefeated record right now... Had Flacco started this year with AR as the back up, i think we would be 7-1 or at worst 6-2 right now (but I'd say 7-1).   The 1 loss against Jax, we scored over 30, Flacco had over 300 passing and 3 TD, that was squarely on the D.

I DO think we could benefit from signing a Darnold or someone similar that is a vet but young enough to be a bridge for 3-4 years...take a chance on someone in the Draft and sit them for 2-3 years until they are ready, and then go from there.  I think Rourke from IU will be a 5th rounder but similar to Kirk Cousins, could become a quality starter in the NFL...Im sure there are others that would go in the 2-4th rounds that would have a similar upside, that we could sit for a few years while still giving this team a shot to win now while developing a QB for the future.    If you look at the top 10 QB that will go in this draft, there's not really a ton that separates them from one another.

His has great accuracy and gets the ball out quick, not very mobile though. Plenty of college experience. I am not sure where Mel and the gang will have him coming out. He has to be at least Round 3 at worse. He is also 6'5 230 pounds - NFL ready. IU might go undefeated this season.

Before the season he was set as a 5th rounder, but I'd be fine with taking him in the 3rd and having him sit a year or two behind a vet

I bet his stock has rose, the way he is playing now, nobody expected it.
