Certainly Machado, Araez who won batting title, a half dozen players from Yankees for Soto who they got from Washington, SP King, C Higashioka, RP Taylor from Marlins, Bogarts, I think from Boston,  etc.... In fact I thought I heard every player except for a few came from elsewhere??? 

 

That shows you how much I know about the Padres. 😂. The last time I followed baseball closely, I thought the Padres would start winning soon because they had by far the most prospects in the top 100. I assumed that they were winning now with some of those prospects and with a few free agents sprinkled in. Getting Tatis at age 17 is not signing a high-priced free agent. If I am not mistaken, Tatis was one of the players I saw in their top 100.  If a player is acquired before age 22 or so, I don't have a problem with that. It is high-priced free agents that I don't like. For example, the year that Machado and Harper were free agents, I was vehemently against signing them. Most Mets fans wanted to sign one of them. They were so disappointed that the Mets did not sign them for $200+ million.

 

I like to build teams with young guys and without acquisitions of superstars. I like this Mets team.

Well, the Mets were shut out today. We have Quintana going tomorrow, I think. I like him a lot. Let's see if we can get some runs tomorrow.

Yeah. The Dodgers are so good. The Mets cannot match some of the stars the Dodgers have. It is surprising that the Dodgers have not won more World Series in the last 10 years or so. Their teams are always stacked.

Cleveland was a tough out, props to them for being a worthy opponent. They have some really good young players..

 

Dodgers or Mets???

I have somewhat major $$$ if Dodgers do it by game 6.....I get even if they win in it in 7. LOSE  if Mets Win. 

 

Anyway, happy my team did what what expected when the Astros and Orioles were knocked out early. But still KC & Cleveland played well. 

Games were close and tough. And exciting, a bit too exciting as my heart was pounding while on edge of my seat.Lol

RIP Fernando.  It was a joy living through Fernandomania.  I got to see him pitch at Dodger Stadium in 1986.  He defeated the Braves.  I used to go to the Dodgers spring training often. A retired gentlemen took a liking to my young son and I.  He told us he was a guest of Fernando’s and he was bumping us to a suite the next day where we could meet him. He lived up to his word.  Fernando was as nice as could be.  One of a kind.

I can only dream of watching a team like those mentioned. Colts fans think they have it rough... Try being a Reds fan after all the glory happened essentially before my birth.

It can be tough on Fans of teams that seem mostly satisfied receiving the guaranteed TV revenue and are happy with a low-end to mid  payroll and knowing of making multiple hundreds of millions of dollars profit regardless  of Win & Losses. 

 

As a lifetime fan of both kinds of teams(Yankees & Colts) it certainly is more enjoyable as a Yankee fan. 

 

At least the Reds have a joy to watch SS. Most likely they will do what's necessary to keep him. 

If a team like the Marlins or A's had him he probably would already be on the trade block.

He really is incredible, I hope we can figure out a way to keep him and build a team around him.

I definitely miss the old Dodgers-Reds rivalry.  There’s a book about it that came out a few years back. For about a decade the Reds were bigger rivals than the Vagiants.

BTW, over the last ten+ years the Dodgers have had the best minor league and player development in baseball.  After Frank McCourt damn near ruined the organization, the current  ownership group has rebuilt a baron farm system while winning.  It’s allowed them to continually bring up young prospects or use them to trade for players like Mookie Betts.

1. To me it is Jim Nantz with Romo or even Simms (Football/-Nantz = Golf)

2. The combo of Madden and Summerall (Football)

3. Al Michaels (Football and Baseball) Al with Collinsworth = Football

4. Vin Scully (Baseball)

5. Bob Costas (Baseball and Basketball)
