  1. 1. How many games will AR miss in the 2024 season?

These days, concussion protocol takes sometimes more than a week to clear the player to play. That, along with any extra niggles that happen even to pocket passers, you just gotta be prepared for the QB to miss a lower number of weeks, say 4. Very smart QBs tend to get lucky too, so Richardson needs to be smarter with those chance runs.

I voted 4-8. After seeing the number of QBs hurt this season, and how careful they are with concussions (which I think AR might get one next season), and the way AR plays recklessly, I can see him missing 4-8 games next year. I hope we have a good backup QB and hope we sign a veteran like Jameis Winston or someone to that degree.

What a terrible question, I don’t even want to consider missing any games next year.

Not a terrible question at all.  It is one that Ballard and other high ups in the Colts organization are asking themselves.  It has been raised in multiple threads on this forum, so I thought I would get an idea of how everyone feels.

Also just curious- how many QBs that started the season played all the games?

Has to be less than half the league, right?

Stroud missed 2 due to injury.

Levis missed 3 due to injury and only started in 9 games.

Lawrence missed 1.5 games due to injury, the half game was against Cincy.

-That is just in our division alone.

Going off the current results, I would estimate that the average is somewhere around 2-5 games missed.  That would tell me that we need a very good backup QB on the team.  The team will not win enough with AR to throw away 2-5 games and still make the playoffs.  I hope Minshew is willing to stay.

One season does not mean the same thing will happen next season.

BO Nix is going round 1

I doubt it. Guys like him and Penix  will probably be round 3 guys.

But a team would be foolish to not be prepared.    Of course this is just a forum so we could all be wrong, but it seems the majority of people on here feel the odds are that AR will miss multiple games.

If AR changes his playing style he should last the whole season.

On the injury that ended his season (designed run) he tried to deliver blows to the linebackers and run them over.  Those LB's then tackled him hard and threw him to the ground.

Perhaps on that designed run he should have simply run out of bounds.  If he had, he might have finished the game.

If he doesn't change his playing style, he might not last half the season.

So really it is up to AR how many games he plays.

Steichen needs to tell him to run out of bounds or slide.

There is no way either last to the third round.   Late first to middle of the second

Who was he trying to run over?    He had no chance making it to the sideline.   He could have slid I guess,  but not much opportunity to do that either

Its a terrible hypothetical question that no one knows the answer to. You can probably look at his history, body type, play style and make an educated guess that its likely he will miss some time. Heres hoping not though lol

Come back to this after the draft. There are probably 3 for sure first rounders. Rarely do you see a QB go in the second. Levis was a a annomoly.  Once you get past top ten those teams most of the time don’t need a starter.

AR doesn’t need to change his playing style.

In your opinion

In my opinion he needs to change by sliding and running out of bounds

What if we draft Nix and end up with a Trey Lance Brock Purdy situation ?

As long as the Colts are winning!

About a quarter of the voters said 0 games, huh? Only on a fanboys board. Given Steichen’s offense and picking a big target to run it, there is no way AR doesn’t miss time. Hopefully Steichen figures out a way to eliminate unnecessary hits by adjusting his offense or else both guys’ careers will be short.

Kyle Trask

Jalen Hurts

Drew Lock

Deshone Kizer

Christian Hackenberg

Derek Carr

Jimmy G

Geno Smith.

That's just the last 10 years.  I've seen a lot of mocks having Nix go to the Rams in the first.

I'm sorry but it says "video unavailable"

Can I go to youtube and search for something?

There's no chance we're drafting a QB day 1 or day 2 this season.

If Jayden Daniels were there with the 15th pick I would maybe consider it. Daniels could run Steichen's offense similar to how Hurts did. Richardson needs to show he can stay healthy before we know he's the guy longterm.

I just watched it a couple of times.  Didn’t see him try to hit or run over any one.  Maybe my eyes are bad

    • Here’s a fun exercise! Let’s go over a list of players who have signed, or re-signed here after actually hitting free agency (if top free agents don’t want to come here then surely they don’t stay after hitting FA, right?) and where they have ranked in those free agency classes from credible media outlets!    2012 (Per CBS Sports top 100) Reggie Wayne (Re-signed) -22 Cory Redding - 39 Samson Satele - 68 2013 (Per NFL[dot]com top 85) Gosder Cherilus - 46 LaRon Landry - 57 2014 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Hakeem Nicks - 22 Art Jones - 32 D’Qwell Jackson - 49 2015 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Andre Johnson - 20 Frank Gore - 29 Trent Cole - 31 Kendall Langford - 64   2016 (Per NFL[dot]com top 99) Patrick Robinson - 79   2017 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Jonathan Hankins - 11 Jabaal Sheard - 29 Jack Doyle (Re-signed) - 61 John Simon - 64 Darius Butler (Re-signed) - 100 Margus Hunt - 101   2018 (Per anyone and everyone) None   2019 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Justin Houston - 8 Devin Funchess - 45 Pierre Desir (Re-signed) - 46 Clayton Geathers (Re-signed) - 63 2020 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Philip Rivers - 11 Anthony Costanzo (Re-signed) - 12 2021 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) TY Hilton (Re-signed) - 33 Eric Fisher - 42 Xavier Rhodes - 53 Marlon Mack (Re-signed) - 79 Al-Quadin Muhammad (Re-signed) - 99 2022 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Stephon Gilmore - 12 2023 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Samson Ebukam - 58 Gardner Minshew - 95   2024 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Julian Blackmon (Re-signed) - 35 Kenny Moore (Re-signed) - 38 Grover Stewart (Re-signed) - 40   Regardless of how any of these signings actually worked out, it’s time to give the argument that top free agents won’t come here the old yeller treatment and bury it. It’s nonsense.
    • Because some are here to be right not support the Colts.
    • Huh?   Are you under the impression that a head coach — any head coach — approaches all 17 regular season games like a playoff game?   They don’t.      So I don’t care what Wash is doing with Daniels, they’re not the same player.  Daniels is far more experienced than AR, so how Wash uses JD is going to be different than how Steichen uses AR.     So my point is that Steichen can try to do both….   groom Richardson AND win games.  It doesn’t have to be one or the other.  It can be both.  Sorry we see this differently.
    • Because we have a GM who won’t really attempt to do business.    Ryan Grigson didn’t have a problem landing free agents.   Andre Johnson was a superstar when he came here. We didn’t know he was washed up until after he got here and he got out on the field.    Does the name “Frank Gore” ring a bell? At all? He’s only a hall of fame player, so maybe you’ve never heard of him.   Corey Redding signed here late in his career, and he helped get Pagano’s 3-4 off the ground.    Mike Adams came here and promptly made a pair of pro-bowls.    Gosder Cherilus was considered one of the best right tackles in the league when he signed here, despite how it turned out.    Ahmad Bradshaw came here before injuries derailed his career for good.    LaRon Landry was a heavily sought after free agent, and chose to come here to make the bank to buy his juice.    Erik Walden came here and far exceeded the deal he was on.    Art Jones had a lot of interest around the league when he signed here before injuries and getting hooked up with LaRon Landry’s juice dealer got in the way.   D’qwell Jackson signed here after being one of the league’s leading tacklers for the Browns and made a pro bowl that same year.    Hakeem Nicks signed here after starting a winning Super Bowl for the Giants and having a 1K+ yards and 10+ TD season. He had multiple 1K yard seasons under his belt on arrival.    What about trades? Vontae Davis came here in a trade. Glaze over it with the benefit of hindsight all you want, but Trent Richardson was 1 year removed from being the 3rd overall pick, and had put up 1K yards rushing as a rookie when he landed in town.     Hell, even Ballard has been able to land some high quality free agents when he’s actually been willing to make a deal. Philip Rivers and Stephon Gilmore didn’t wind up here because the league told them they had to be here.    The facts that these free agents all signed here aren’t untrue simply because you either don’t remember them, or just flat out don’t know them. Luckily someone writes these signings down somewhere for the sake of posterity, so we can look back on those official records and prove that they did in fact happen, despite the claims to the contrary.
