I think Bob Sanders will be next and deservedly so. I have been on Irsay's case to get this done but I doubt he reads what we post, maybe he does? He is a big social media guy. Not having Bob in isn't right, he was a big reason why we won the SB we did, and he is the only Colt in NFL history to win DPOY. The ovation he would get would be unreal!

Back to Andrew, give it 2 more years and I think things will be fine. The way he retired (timing of it) just made a lot of people dislike him. I still love the guy for what he gave the franchise even though I was mad at the timing of his retirement.

Making it to the playoffs and advancing will help take some of the sting away of Luck retiring.  It’s amazing how much better winning again will make everyone feel.

What if (no, I don't wish this!) Jim dies before Andrew get into the ROH?  Do you think he goes in right away or a few years after Jim himself gets there (would that even happen?  An owner in the ROH??).

If Jim Passed away, I think he would go in right away and understandably so. He won a SB for a small market team which is rare so that accolade gets him in, + his daughters would put him in. The only Colts as of now that I can think of that belong that aren't in are Bob Sanders, Andrew, and if Jim did pass away. His dad Robert Irsay is in, so Jim belongs and hopefully it is just by retirement if it happens.

I agree with almost everything you say here. Except I think it will take a little longer than 2 years for Luck to get in the ROH. The timing of his retirement may not be entirely his fault (Colts likely asking him wait on the decision to retire in the hope he’d change his mind) but it has hurt the team for years. Get this team back to consistently contending and the sting of the post Luck years will be in the rear view mirror. Until then…. no ROH.
Bob Sanders, on the other hand, should already be up there. Hope that happens soon.

I was not a Colts fan and didn’t really follow football when Harbaugh was here.  Was he really that good for the Colts or were expectations so low in the mid 90’s?  I’ve actually wondered this a few times.

1995 was a special season - that is what got Jim in. We technically won the AFC that year and it was due to Harbaugh with his comeback wins. I say technically because the REFS screwed us. Pitt scored a TD where a WR stepped out of bounds right in front of the REF - he was looking right at, then the WR came back in and caught a TD, we lost by 4 points. There were 2 or 3 other calls in that game that were outrageous as well that went against us but before I get accused of saying the REFS alter games, I will zip it. Anyone with common sense knows he we got screwed until the Cows starting Mooing Homer Simpson Laughing GIF by FOX TV. League wanted Dallas vs Pitt, 2 great franchises to revive the 70's rivalry. I am not alone in thinking this. That was 1 time, I was glad Dallas won, Pitt and their REFS wasn't cheating Troy, Emmitt, and Michael lmao . They met their match against that team.

Harbaugh doesn’t belong in a ring of honor. The Colts were so bad from 1978 through the 80’s they were desperate to add people. Harbaugh couldn’t keep Don Majkowski on the bench in 1994. The Colts went and signed Craig Erickson in 1995. He stunk and got benched. Harbaugh and a good Indy defense had a magical season. Lindy Infante and Ted Marchibroda did a great job teaching him to be a better QB.

For a year and a half, Harbaugh played real good football.  He stunk in 1997. Held the ball too long. Took a bunch of sacks. He wasn’t going to throw receivers open. He needed WIDE OPEN receivers.  By the end of the year you could argue Paul Justin was more effective.

1995 was a magical season though and they were one play away from the Super Bowl multiple times in the AFC Championship. In 1996 they beat the defending champs too. Most of us believe they would have beat Dallas.

Don’t get me going on Bob Irsay being up there.  That is an embarrassment.  Even more than some of the banners they chose to hang.

I recall the one bad call where Kordell Stewart ran out of the back of the endzone and came back in to catch the TD.  I believe the ref even moved back a step to allow him to do so.

Coryatt dropped an interception that would have won the game.  Lamont Warren went down on a shoestring tackle on 3rd and 1 that would have sealed the game. He had a hole you could drive a truck through.

Yeah it was Stewart, clearly out and right in front of the REF. That was a gigantic momentum changer and gave them 7 points.

Luck won’t make the hall of fame. Sorry. Just lacks the longevity or major wins to even sniff the nomination.

Andre Johnson in before Reggie Wayne is a crying butt shame. Reggie has better stats and two Super Bowl appearances, one ring. Multiple playoff games. Andre doesn’t. Not sure how the committee allowed that to happen.

He was the winningest QB we had from 1984 to 1998. But he honestly was more like Minshew, above average but not great. 1995 was a heck of a season and two very bad ref calls and missed calls screwed the colts from winning. A Steelers WR ran two feet out of bounds, all along the side lines in the white, came back in and caught a 50+ yard bomb that set up the Steelers go ahead TD. All on 3rd and long. Should have been a penalty and not a catch.

Who said anything about Luck making the Hall of Fame? I said ROH, Mr Peter Griffin Homer Simpson Reaction GIF.

I’ll Agree to disagree. Otherwise, we’ll end up in the same boat as always, debating the same points and detailing a thread. I respect your opinion, I have no qualms with it. However, I don’t agree and neither of us is going to change the others mind.  Have a wonderful weekend my friend

It won’t happen until colts are winning playoff games again and possibly a SB.  That’s the only way fans finally get past Luck.

    • It's understandable for some fans to be frustrated when the team loses.  Some seem to take it way too serious and or personal.  I been a Colt fan for a very long time and have seen the best and worst of times.  What good does it do getting bent over grown men getting paid millions to play a game?
    • Here’s a fun exercise! Let’s go over a list of players who have signed, or re-signed here after actually hitting free agency (if top free agents don’t want to come here then surely they don’t stay after hitting FA, right?) and where they have ranked in those free agency classes from credible media outlets!    2012 (Per CBS Sports top 100) Reggie Wayne (Re-signed) -22 Cory Redding - 39 Samson Satele - 68 2013 (Per NFL[dot]com top 85) Gosder Cherilus - 46 LaRon Landry - 57 2014 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Hakeem Nicks - 22 Art Jones - 32 D’Qwell Jackson - 49 2015 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Andre Johnson - 20 Frank Gore - 29 Trent Cole - 31 Kendall Langford - 64   2016 (Per NFL[dot]com top 99) Patrick Robinson - 79   2017 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Jonathan Hankins - 11 Jabaal Sheard - 29 Jack Doyle (Re-signed) - 61 John Simon - 64 Darius Butler (Re-signed) - 100 Margus Hunt - 101   2018 (Per anyone and everyone) None   2019 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Justin Houston - 8 Devin Funchess - 45 Pierre Desir (Re-signed) - 46 Clayton Geathers (Re-signed) - 63 2020 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Philip Rivers - 11 Anthony Costanzo (Re-signed) - 12 2021 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) TY Hilton (Re-signed) - 33 Eric Fisher - 42 Xavier Rhodes - 53 Marlon Mack (Re-signed) - 79 Al-Quadin Muhammad (Re-signed) - 99 2022 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Stephon Gilmore - 12 2023 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Samson Ebukam - 58 Gardner Minshew - 95   2024 (Per NFL[dot]com top 101) Julian Blackmon (Re-signed) - 35 Kenny Moore (Re-signed) - 38 Grover Stewart (Re-signed) - 40   Regardless of how any of these signings actually worked out, it’s time to give the argument that top free agents won’t come here the old yeller treatment and bury it. It’s nonsense.
    • Because some are here to be right not support the Colts.
    • Huh?   Are you under the impression that a head coach — any head coach — approaches all 17 regular season games like a playoff game?   They don’t.      So I don’t care what Wash is doing with Daniels, they’re not the same player.  Daniels is far more experienced than AR, so how Wash uses JD is going to be different than how Steichen uses AR.     So my point is that Steichen can try to do both….   groom Richardson AND win games.  It doesn’t have to be one or the other.  It can be both.  Sorry we see this differently.
    • Because we have a GM who won’t really attempt to do business.    Ryan Grigson didn’t have a problem landing free agents.   Andre Johnson was a superstar when he came here. We didn’t know he was washed up until after he got here and he got out on the field.    Does the name “Frank Gore” ring a bell? At all? He’s only a hall of fame player, so maybe you’ve never heard of him.   Corey Redding signed here late in his career, and he helped get Pagano’s 3-4 off the ground.    Mike Adams came here and promptly made a pair of pro-bowls.    Gosder Cherilus was considered one of the best right tackles in the league when he signed here, despite how it turned out.    Ahmad Bradshaw came here before injuries derailed his career for good.    LaRon Landry was a heavily sought after free agent, and chose to come here to make the bank to buy his juice.    Erik Walden came here and far exceeded the deal he was on.    Art Jones had a lot of interest around the league when he signed here before injuries and getting hooked up with LaRon Landry’s juice dealer got in the way.   D’qwell Jackson signed here after being one of the league’s leading tacklers for the Browns and made a pro bowl that same year.    Hakeem Nicks signed here after starting a winning Super Bowl for the Giants and having a 1K+ yards and 10+ TD season. He had multiple 1K yard seasons under his belt on arrival.    What about trades? Vontae Davis came here in a trade. Glaze over it with the benefit of hindsight all you want, but Trent Richardson was 1 year removed from being the 3rd overall pick, and had put up 1K yards rushing as a rookie when he landed in town.     Hell, even Ballard has been able to land some high quality free agents when he’s actually been willing to make a deal. Philip Rivers and Stephon Gilmore didn’t wind up here because the league told them they had to be here.    The facts that these free agents all signed here aren’t untrue simply because you either don’t remember them, or just flat out don’t know them. Luckily someone writes these signings down somewhere for the sake of posterity, so we can look back on those official records and prove that they did in fact happen, despite the claims to the contrary.
