Question about buying a jersey

I am thinking about getting a Richardson jersey. I don’t like getting things with players names on them. Can you take off the name plaque if something were to happen and he wasn’t on the team in a couple years.

Depends on the jersey honestly. The more premium ones it’s possible.

Thats why I’ve only got three jerseys, all of which are signed and in a case: Manning, Wayne, and Luck.

Cheap ones most likely not because the letter and names are usually heat pressed on. You could always stitch a new name over it I guess but you gotta hope the new player has the same number.

More expensive ones, I think you could but at the cost of those you can buy two cheaper jerseys.

Yep exactly. Might as well go with a legends jersey, or even one without a name on the back.

Oh hell, it’s their money… Chloe go ahead and get the jersey. Life’s too short, so indulge and make yourself happy. Even though it didn’t work out long term, I still look at my Luck jersey with fond memories of 2012-2014. Those were good days.

You could order a custom jersey from the Colt's pro shop and pick any number and put your own name on the back.

I was looking and I can’t find one with  no name on the pro shop. I want to get the new Indiana nights one.

I may be linked to several bad mishaps with Colts players. Bought a Eric Dickerson jersey before his demise with the Colts. Same with Marshall Faulk. Edge?  Yep.
Bought a signed Manning jersey right before his neck injury. Bought a signed Luck jersey before he retired without warning.
Now I will only buy a signed Colts jersey after they retire.

It's always a risk getting any player's Jersey.

Heck, anyone who bought a manning jersey mustve surely thought to themselves that would be a safe pick because he would never be let go by the colts before he retired.... right?.....

Like it has been posted up above, its very very rare for a player to stick with a single team their entire career. And its even riskier with rookies obviously. We could get 2 years down the line and Richardson stinks and is traded away for peanuts, or is cut.... Or he could be league MVP and he stays with us for the next 10 years.....

Or he could get a career ending shoulder/neck injury.... anything can happen.

Personally, I'd lay off getting a Richardson jersey until like midway through next year (depending on how he looked this year and the start of next).

But even then, if you applied that logic to Taylor, youd have bought one of his and now look at where we are at with him. It's all a crapshoot.

The safest pick is a nameless jersey or your own name on the back.

Just commit to AR5.  When he DOES become a superstar you'll regret not getting the name on it.    Your supporting the player if you buy a #5 jersey everyone is always going to know why you bought it anyway.

Be positive and confident

I probably wouldn’t get it until next year because they are kind of expensive. I think that’s a good point. See how he does this year.

Would they let me customize it with Manning on the back? Lol

How could they not? Peyton Manning and his family are not the only family in the world who have "Manning" as their last name. How could they deny someone customising a jersey with that last name on it?

You should have bought a Brady jersey 20 years ago.

Anyone else pulling out their old Trent Richardson jerseys? My friend bought me one as a joke the year we let him go for 10 bucks lol

I was going to say, you can still get them cheap.  I saw one in the pro shop last year.  Just change that number!

Good idea to do a retired player. Could do someone like Mathis. I would even be ok with Hilton.

Or Vinatieri. Heck even Harrison. You get a Harrison jersey and then we draft his son next year, you'll be up to date while also supporting a legend! Win win!

IMO, just get Richardson's jersey if you want it. It's not a marriage certificate.

But it looks like you can customize the Indiana Nights jersey. You can pick any player on the roster, or select any name or number you want. But it doesn't look like you can take the name off of those, it's screen printed, not a plaque.

If I were getting an old player's jersey, it would be Reggie or Manning.

I thought about that the other day, there's plenty of them on ebay!

Seems like it would be cheaper to get a Trent Richardson jersey, and just replace the numbers on it. 😁

    • Bad analogy.  These rankings come out and can change week to week.  That’s why they do it.  No one scores elite grades every week.  They are number one right now.  The season just started.  Why is that so hard to understand?  I swear.
    • Yes, but the element of Richardson running more in the latter quarter also contributed to the Colts ability to run it with success
    • Totally agree. Now if Richardson is like throwing below 50% by the end of the season. Then maybe we have a case to worry. I really compare his career to Allen and I think of Richardson as an  Allen on steroids lol. They have very similar physical makeups but Richardson may have a stronger arm and is much faster. Allan has him in the build department.  Allan's rookie season was really rocky and if you look back. It really almost took 2 years till you started to see it. I just think fans need to be very patient as I think Richardson was even more raw than Allen coming out. You see the rawness but I also see the composure and making some good reasons. Yes, he throws picks but all rookie qbs do. Hell, I remember even Luck making the most ridiculous throws that resulted in interceptions. Just sit back and get your popcorn as this is going to be like a roller coaster. I really thought when people said playoffs. I was like.................really??
    • The Bears knew exactly what the Colts were going to do on their last drive.   That's what my post was was about.   Maybe you quoted the wrong post?
    • They are playing a sub par qb, Oline and a running game that averages like 4 yards.  The Bears actually scared me more on offense because at least they have the potential to break it open. Fields is a bad qb (passer) and just keep him in the pocket and make him play qb. Keep everything inside and the defense should be successful. Turnovers and field position is going to be huge in this game. No going for it on 4th down and punt the ball. I think this is going to be an ugly game lol.
