Next “Pound the Table” Position

After 4 years of not addressing the QB position properly, we’ve finally drafted one high. Now that that’s been taken care of, what do you all think is the next position that we should be pounding the table for the staff to draft? Or, the position where we desperately need to find “the guy”. 
 

For me I’m going to go with pass rusher. I understand we signed Ebukum, but he’s never had more than 5 sacks in a year (granted he’s never really been a full-time starter), so his potential is a mystery. I liked Paye when we drafted him, but he’s missed some time with injuries and still hasn’t balled out yet. I think we need to get that “guy” at edge. A guy who can be a yearly 10+ sack guy.

 

Just like I did early studies with QBs going into the season, I’ve done the same with pass rushers. The guy I like is Jared Verse. I think he could be a franchise pass rusher here.

I wouldn't mind DE or CB either... depending on how Bernard Raimann does this year OT has sneaky potential to be my next position I want us to address high in the draft too... Especially in this coming draft which seems to have some good OT talent.

Yeah, I think Raimann has a chance to be a lot better this year... but I'm still going with LT.  Go find a stud that can give us that island that we used to put AC on so our RBs/TEs can help elsewhere and our young QB has time to do what he needs to do.

Not you personally... But it's funny how when AC was here, 75% of the forum wanted a replacement for him...now that he's gone, they realize how much better he was than they thought!

If Marvin Harrison is on the table...... you draft him.....

 

But......  Unless our two youngens step it up......  DE is the biggest hole IMHO

 

CBs can be had later that fir this defense

We haven’t had a true WR1 since Harrison and Wayne. Hilton was great for sure, but he was a smaller guy. Pittman is a 2 for me. Harrison with AR would be an insane combo for sure.

With the lack of QB play over the last three years how do we know if Pitt or any WR on the roster is a #1?

That’s a fair question. I’m just going off skill set and not production. I haven’t seen anything from our current receivers from a skill perspective that shows they can be Chase, Jefferson, Diggs, etc…plus remember that a lot of number 1’s shine regardless of who is playing QB (Evans and Hopkins).

That’s why having a down season wouldn’t be terrible. You lose out and you have a shot a Harrison, Verse, Olu, etc…

Exactly! Some are already putting a debbie downer forecast about how the "team will suck" and I'm like, good. Let them suck this year so we can get better next year. It's all about '24 and '25.

I may have to take my old harrison jersey out of mothballs......if he comes Im pretty sure he will be wearing 88 not 18.

AR to Harrison would be a thing of beauty. If he and Verse were on the board when we picked, as much as we need a franchise edge, I’d take Harrison. Verse is still my “Pound the Table” guy because I think he may be in striking range, but if we get a top 5 pick and there’s QB needy teams in front of Us, I’m going Harrison.

As much as I want Harrison Jr.I’m just not sure we’re gonna be able to get him,real good chance he’s gonna be the 2nd overall pick right behind Caleb Williams.
