Do we want him? What would we trade for him? 2nd and MAC?

No interest in him. He has a terrible work ethic. Didn't report to OTAs when Washington was deciding on his 5th year option. He's also been an injury bust. I wouldn't give any more than a 4th round pick for him.

I'd be interested.  Interested enough to ask the questions.  Like, what would Washington want in a trade?  How bad were his injuries?  How much was his development affected by his injuries?  Is his work ethic truly bad?  Or does he just have so little interest in playing for Washington that he didn't go to OTAs?  If we brought him in, what would that do to our DE rotation?  Who would wind up being the starters?

Lots of questions to ask.  And I'd be interested enough to want to ask them.

He didn't care to show up when he had a 5th year option on his contract on the line during OTAs when it was optional, and anything and everything could be factored into determining if he would get the option picked up. He already had an injury history at that point and was looking like a bust. You have to show up for OTAs to make an impression when every decision can be judged with one year left.

ok you can judge his character, maybe. but that doesn't indicate poor work ethic, as he may have his reasons.

I agree with this. Only thing I would be worried about is if he'd care any more on the Colts than the Commanders. Maybe their environment wasn't so good with Synder. However, I thought he was gone at that point (could be wrong). If he wants to go to a contender, then I think he'll wait until after this year unless he gets traded, and the Colts wouldn't motivate any extra if that's his intention.

Maybe, it could be he didn't want to work on a team with Dan Synder, it could be he wants to play for a contender. Maybe it's bad character or work ethic. Maybe he's just lazy. I would have showed up for OTAs in his position though. We'll see what the rest of the league and the Commanders think of him though.

yeah i hear you. but how does he end up in the NFL with bad work ethic? I mean look at the dude. He doesn't look like someone with bad work ethic. That's all im saying.

WASH has been a % show of a team for years. You can be a very hard worker but not want to go to work if there is something going on in culture or politics wise/

A Commanders fan I know says that , according to Commanders insiders, Chase Young is unlikely to be traded. He has proven to be healthy and will be playing for his 2023 extension. Things are on hold because of the transition to new ownership.  This person keeps up on all things Washington, so their information seems legitimate. They could be mistaken, but I think that team insiders would have more knowledge than national sports writers.

Maybe once the new owners take over, changes will happen, but not much happening until then.

I'm no NFL athlete but I take pride in my work ethic, and I'll say one of the companies I worked for in the past made me not like going to work.

4 years ago I thought Chase was the only sure thing in the draft.

If Young had remained healthy, he likely would’ve lived up to the hype.  His injuries are what have kept him from reaching his full ability.   Great talent.
