The TE outlet is what Downs has "tried" to be but Downs can tend to be in a crowd in the slot and that INT before the first half in the road Texans game that killed us, that was AR forcing to Downs in a crowd. NFL DBs are too good if you telegraph, even if you have a gun of an arm throwing to a covered guy.
The routes AR needs to work on particularly is the out and comeback routes that require a combo of chemistry and timing in addition to accuracy, like Peyton used to release before Marvin or Reggie break off their routes for the comeback. Takes a few years to get good at. Once he hits that, he will move the chains, fewer 3 and outs underneath. Right now, it is hit and miss, stating the obvious there but it won't get better by him not throwing. Like a shooter in basketball, you got to keep shooting.
But showing poise regardless of ups and downs, AR has got that down, IMO.
Our WR's and TE's drop a lot of balls and give AR a little more time, he has only started in 13 games. As a starter he is 7-6, above .500 despite his ups and downs.
