Archer’s Final 2023 Colt Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

1-4) Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida.  I just like his athleticism and personality a lot more than Levis, not that Levis doesn’t have his positive traits too.

2-48) Steve Avila, OG, TCU.  Traded #35 to Detroit for #48 and #81.  Could be asked to drop 15 lbs. for our RG spot.

3-79) Darius Rush, CB, South Carolina.  Doesn’t have the hops of Brents, but 33 3/8 inch arms and a 4.36 forty are nothing to sneeze at.

3-81) YaYa Diaby, EDGE, Louisville.  I don’t know why so many are seeing him as a 5th rounder.  Ran a 4.51 forty at 6’3 and 263lbs, with 33 7/8 inch arms.  Also, had like 9 1/2 sacks this year too.

4-106) Quan Martin, S, Illinois.  No huge need at Safety, but something’s been off with Blackmon, and I’d like more quality young depth.

5-138) John Ojukwu, OT, Boise St.  The 5th round is where my crazy picks come.  Five of the last six Boise St. LTs made the NFL, and their coaches rave about his work ethic and character.  Plus, he had a similar workout to Old Dominion’s 4th round prospect Nick Saldiveri, but has longer arms.

5-162) Starling Thomas V, CB, UAB.  Slot guy.  Some like him for the 5th, most have him in the 7th.

5-176) Demario Douglas, WR, Liberty.  Another one that a few have elevated, but not many.  Rose at the EWS.  Ran a 4.44 at the Combine, had a 39.5” vert, and a 11’2” broad jump.  5’8, 179 lbs, so we’re talkin’ slot.

7-221) Jake Witt, OT, N. Michigan.  A great pro day put this fantastic athlete on the NFL radar.

7-236) Jeremiah Martin, DL, Washington.  Small 3T for us, but very athletic.

I like the second round trade. It would be a smart move for the Colts and getting both Avila and Rush would be outstanding. I like going CB in the second and G in the third, but it’s hard to complain about your picks. Diaby can most likely be had later, but he’s intriguing. Nice job.

I really like the first four picks and don’t have much issues with the sound of the other guys either. This kind of proves the thought that even with trading back we can’t fix everything. Because my only concerns is if we have enough weapons for Richardson. But I do think protecting him and helping Taylor with a new OG still helps our offense a lot. We also could use depth a LBer imo.

    • "I'm a freak of nature" -AR. Before every downfall comes pride.  There's too much hype on what "can be". The whole organization is letting this young man down by hyping him up and then doing literally nothing to help him out on any side of the ball.
    • Lifting this comment from another thread:   I think almost everyone (haters/lovers) understands this i.e. he's raw. Whether he's a bust or boom eventually, the facts were always pretty clear. He's a truly raw dude with god-type, unicorn, truly ONE-of-ONE physical gifts capable of breaking any defense and changing the league. Those are facts.   Raw also means he has that jarring experience gap that is always going to have to get filled one way or another. What's happening now is folks are having to live through the reality of what was always going to happen. So, we see lots of polar opposite comments, lots of frustration, lots of annoyance, lots of 'I told yous', lots of camps, but let's all not lose track of the basic fact - We all knew these struggles were coming, what we didn't know and still don't know is how it ends.    A raw player must learn. How quickly he learns, how accurate he becomes, how much of a leader he truly becomes, how he learns to balance his gifts with his weaknesses, how he learns to own the game, his drive to win. That all determines how it all ends. This young man has a good/v.good teacher, patient staff (who understand how to create the best plans for the player), good owner and organization, and the burning will to be great. For me, he'll get really good faster than he should but it doesn't mean he aint gotta learn and take the lumps he's due. This is GM's chosen QB choice, I think he can and will be great. The other QBs in college don't matter - not unless there's an Andrew Luck out there and FWIW there isnt'.   Sadly, the team record means nothing this year, same as last year. Once fans get to that realization, it becomes easier to swallow the present struggles. There's the question of how much blame the GM should take for the longer term failure to win but that's another story entirely.
    • Bro at least Will Mallory can catch granson is a body catcher and always falls down , like you remember rams game AR hits him right in chest he falls down and tried to body catch and drops the ball. Accountability needs to be had and it starts with Ballard
    • Granson is trash. Time to give someone else a shot. Mallory.
    • Everyone knows TEs are young QBs top security blankets and frankly despite all the hype this offseason they’ve been underwhelming so far. We have Mo that makes like 1 catch a game then effs off the rest of the game. Granson who slips a lot and drops so many catchable passes. I really hope Mallory gets some snaps he has good hands and has looked decent when he did that play.
