CJ Stroud in a tier of his own. Bryce Young and Hendon Hooker in second tier, Anthony Richardson tier 3, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Will Levis tier 4.

Thoughts?

Well Simms had Murray, Allen, and Burrow correct at number 1 in those years.  Missed on Lawrence but barely he had him at 2.  In his eyes if we stay at 4 we are going to wind up with a tier 3 or 4 quarterback unless we take Hooker who no one else has that high at tier 2.  We need a quarterback.  When you put Murray up against a tier 3 or 4 prospect Murray wins out pretty easily.  Even tier 2 for that matter.  The consensus is this class is not a great quarterback class.  So seeing these quarterbacks getting tier 3 and 4 rating falls in line with that consensus.  I expect the Colts are having serious discussions about Murray.  It’s pretty easy to see him getting a big contract.  Whether it’s all fully guaranteed is another matter.  Tier 1 quarterbacks like Burrow, Lawrence or Allen will never hit FA.  Murray has now become the exception at age 26 no less.  I have to think some team will take a swing.  Titans, Patriots, Vikings, Colts?  I hope it’s not the Titans.  That’s the last thing we need to happen in our division.  But the Colts!  He would make us instantly relevant again and contenders once more.  Looks like an interesting and possibly franchise altering month coming up for Ballard and the Colts.

You’re now expecting the Colts are having serious thoughts about…..  Murray?!?

Did you mean Jackson?   Haven’t you been on that train for a while?

Murray, with his bad character,  you think Chris Ballard is (A) going to want to trade a haul of draft picks for, and (B) pay him a TON of money?!?

I don’t understand this post.   Not a bit.

It is time for bed, I am sure he meant Lamar, not Murray. :)

Yeah, I just posted this article in another thread where teams should avoid picking a QB late in Round 1 if they can avoid it. Interesting one and it surprised me a bit too. But I understand the argument - if you are not doing it at No.4, don't reach for the QB and lose the value game, better off waiting. Irsay's blessing needs to be all over for Ballard to do the right thing his way.

This article is funny to me.  It’s from 2016.

Two years later, Baltimore traded up to the bottom of the first round to take Lamar Alexander.   The Ravens wanted to have the fifth year option.   I’d say that decision turned out pretty well for them.

And it’s now considered a smart move by teams considering taking a QB at the top of the 2nd round.   If you think he might be your future, trade up to the bottom of the 1st and take him there for the contractual advantage.

Funny how things changed in just two years.

Yes I meant LaMar.  Too many r’s for my little brain to sort out.  More senior moments are on the horizon I’m afraid.

The article does mention Flacco and Rodgers on the other side, so it’s acknowledging that there were hits but the odds is what it’s talking about, overall.
