Trade back mock

With the Minshew signing, I think Ballard thinks he can get a QB later than others think. Either Hooker, or, in this case, AR15 fell a little. I know mock trades aren’t reality, but this is how it went. (And I love discussing mocks).  Trading Gilmore, I strengthened the CB room, as I didn’t like any of the DL picks available, plus I like our DL now.

12. Anthony Richardson, QB Florida

30. O'Cyrus Torrence, OG Florida

35. Dawand Jones, OT Ohio State

62. Rashee Rice, WR SMU

79. Jaylon Jones, CB Texas A&M

106. Darius Rush, CB South Carolina

138. Mekhi Garner, CB LSU

162. Dorian Williams, LB Tulane

169. Hunter Luepke, RB North Dakota State

221. Spencer Anderson, OC Maryland

236. Bumper Pool, LB Arkansas

2024 PHI 1st

2024 HOU 2nd

Mocks aren't reality alright...

But this kind of trade downs are impossible and does happen never.

I know some mock sites like Drafttek and others give up a lot of picks in return and rank certain players like Dawand Jones very low in later rounds, that both the future draft picks and player selections do not become available in the actual draft.

Mock drafts are actually more interesting when they are close to what happens in the actual draft when there are 32 GMs competing with each other and not just 1 GM and 31 computer simulations in easy mode.

I completely understand your response, but I said that in the beginning of my post.  Ignore if it's reality or not, it's an exercise in mock drafting.  Just go with it and grade it on the players, not if the trades would happen.

So, I did a mock with no trades.  I know some players won't be where I picked them, but (again) this is a thought exercise.  Got our QB of future, able to get 2 OL already familiar w/ his play (should make blocking more cohesive from the jump), got a WR and TE to help offense, and a LB to replace Okreke.  What does everyone think?

4. C.J. Stroud, QB Ohio State
35. Dawand Jones, OT Ohio State
79. Jack Campbell, LB Iowa
106. Luke Wypler, OC Ohio State
138. Jonathan Mingo, WR Ole Miss
162. Riley Moss, CB Iowa
169. Nick Broeker, OG Ole Miss
221. Josh Whyle, TE Cincinnati
236. Byron Young, EDGE Tennessee

If this was to happen, the Colts would be ecstatic. My only gripe is not grabbing a CB with the third pick. That is a far needier position than LB.

I do think that Jones goes before 35, and Mingo a round sooner, but this draft would certainly improve the Colts.

Thanks for doing the mocks. Always fun.
