Not sure if this has been a post or not.  Sorry if it has.  But what about taking Anderson at 4.  Then drafting either Hooker or Bennett in the 2nd round.  I know hooker might not play right away.  But bring in someone to hold it down till he's ready.  And then let him take over.  Anderson would make our line a beast.  Plus if stroud and Young are gone.  I don't think either of the other 2 are that great to take them at 4.

Drafting Bennet at 35 is way over drafting him.  He’s projected as a round four or five pick.

Also until the Cardinals trade out of three that’s where Anderson is going.

He is probably thinking of trading back to 61 to take them.

But i am sure he thanks you for your pov.

It’s been talked about. I’m one of those who would be okay with it. But we’ll see what happens. The moves we’ve made in FA so far suggest we won’t be looking at Anderson.

This is where i'm at right now.  Take a stud at 4.  Dont' just reach for a qb.

Yeah I want to say David Perry. They played together at Stanford i believe. I think he went to the Raiders then got in some trouble.

Non-consensus opinion:

In a draft with truly elite (non-QB) position players,  Anderson would not be discussed as a top-5 pick.

By who?  It is common knowledge that he is an elite player. Just maybe the most talented player in the draft.

It wouldn’t be popular, but if Stroud and Young are gone it’s smart.

Probably have to trade back into the first for Hooker though.

Here's my non professional opinion....if the qb you want isn't there and you feel there's an elite pass rusher available,  you take the pass rusher.

Yes taking a qb in the first is important,  but taking a qb for the sake of taking a qb is a recipe for further disaster.

I think they are going to let Paye  assume the Leo role and the newly signed niner take the Rde  spot. I am not sure they take Anderson. I like the Gonzalez kid out of Oregon. I think he would be that man corner we need. I don't see a lot of bend with Anderson but super productive.   I just have a feeling they pick D player with 1st pick and then trade  back into 1st lol

Have you ever actually watched him play?   He was in the heisman talk early in the year before he was injured

So he got a top 30 visit. Who cares. It's called doing your due diligence. Irsay is not letting Ballard use that 4th overall pick on anything, but a QB. I guarantee you we are not using that pick on anything, but QB

I don't get what any of this has to do with the 4th overall pick. We're not doing Anderson Hooker. That would be beyond stupid.

Remember Mahonnes with the 10th overall pick? People tought that was  stupid. I agree with u. I doubt they take them with the 4th overall pick but I wouldn't be shocked if qb was not their 1st pick

Why is it stupid?

You wanna risk going into the 2023 season with a 25 year old QB coming off an ACL tear? Also EDGE is the least of our worries. The oline is still in shambles, we have no CB depth, and our skill players are still developing.

A 25 year old QB who is injured and ran an offense where he only had to read half the field.

Plenty of Heismann candidates and winners who stunk in the NFL.

Ben Roethlisberger  did the same when he came out.   Read half the field as he learned

My bad. I thought that a message board was for expression of opinion.

Wether it jives with 'common knowledge' or consensus is irrelevant.

I personal;;y don't think that Anderson is as good a prospect as (for example) Derek

Barnett was coming out of UT a few years back.

  Barnett went at #14.

    • You probably think Frank Kush or Bill Tobin was a better hire than Shane.
    • Here's two interesting names. Both are up and coming coaches, which I think would be the target if the Colts were looking for a new DC.   1. Glenn Schumann Georgia co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann: Schumann interviewed with the Eagles before Desai got the job in 2023. Schumann is 32 years old and when Kirby moved to Georgia for the HC job he made sure Schumann went with him as a LB coach. He has been calling plays for since Dan Lanning took the Oregon job. Him interviewing for the Eagles indicates he may be looking for an NFL transition. Heres a quote about him   2. Chiefs' Brendan Daly Linebacker coach: Recently moved from DL coach to Linebacker coach after the LB coach left. He previously was defensive line coach and run-game coordinator from 2019-21 for the chiefs and DL coach for the Patriots from 2014-2018. He has been coaching since 2006 primarily under Belichick He approached Reid about the move to LB coach because he wanted a challenge, with Spags solidified as DC he may be looking for the next step as DC outside of KC. Downside is he hasn't called plays so he would need a clear vision of the defense during interviews yet with his history of working with elite defensive coaches Belichick and Spagnuolo. They clearly like something about him and may be looking for his opportunity.   Now I'm sure as the season goes on there will be other names slowly added to this list.
