Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

I have no idea why we want Bryce Young to be 210lbs at 5'10" slim frame? Do we want him to lose any athleticism and movement ability he has?

Surviving hits in the NFL matters more. Gaining 10-15 pounds isn't sacrificing a lot of athleticism

It's not 10-15. It would be about 25-30 from his playing weight(i.e. from what we've seen him play at and at what we've seen his athleticism)

He was listed as 194 pounds

And he was listed at 6'0" and measured 2 inches shorter. I legit wonder if he was playing at above 180 in Alabama.

No one is gaining 30 pounds in such a short time unless you think the NFL is lying about him being 204 pounds

Look, I understand you like Young but you can't ignore the fact he is a small player amongst huge men. If you can't accept that there is concern about his lack of size I don't know what to tell you.

They are not lying he measured at 204. Now how much water he chugged in the morning before the measurement is a different question. No way in hell his playing weight is 204. They should measure him at his pro-day... something tells me they won't... and we definitely should measure him when he comes for his top 30 visit at Colts facility.

I do like him because if he was 6 3 220, he'd be the consensus number one pick.

I'm sure he drank a crap ton of water, but teams are gonna want him at 200+. You just can't play QB at less then that.

Does anyone remember Don Nottingham aka the human bowling ball?  Former Baltimore Colt running back.  He was 5’10” 210 lbs.  So now in the modern era that’s what we want our quarterback to measure up to.  Not me.  I have a problem with that.

But he is not 6'3" 229 lbs.

And I just gave you four different QBs that made it work. Size isn't everything. Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweler, and Jamarcus Russell were massive and couldn't play to save their lives. Even Tua isn't that big and was playing great before he got hurt.

That’s why AR makes me nervous.  A quarterback at each extreme.  Give me the two in the middle given a choice.

Now you are just being argumentative. It doesn't change the fact that he is a small man in a large man's world. That is concerning no matter how much you want to argue about it.

Just leave it at that them, but Ill say this. If Bryce goes to the Texans, we better get Stroud to try and compete.

Personally I think they should go after Stroud regardless of where Young goes.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong either way, but have to trade up to atleast 2 if the Texans get the first pick.

As much as I want Stroud, I don't want to gamble the the draft capital that the Bears are reporting they want.

It's two spots. Not exactly a large jump to be asking for a crap ton.

There’s not much difference in Young or Bennett. Both are about the same size and both had similar stats in the SEC.

One is older then the majority of starting QBs in the playoffs this year

You're not convincing anyone to gamble on a 25 year old rookie QB. There's a reason scouts have him as a day three pick

Scouts miss badly on quarterbacks every draft. In fact Bennett probably runs faster than Young. I just don’t see Young as all that.

I honestly think he goes undrafted. He might be a good backup to Jalen.

You may be right, but I think he gets drafted. Again there’s not a lot of difference in Young versus Bennett. Bennett will be a surprise depending on what team he goes to. No joke, I would take him over Young. Both of these guys are winners.

But, he isn’t 6’3” and 220.

And personally, I don't think that matters. The way the NFL currently is in terms of safety when it comes to QBs, your QB doesn't need to 6 4 240.

Maybe doesnt have to be that big. But there's a big difference between 6'4 240 and 5'10" sub 200.  Splitting the difference at 6'1" 215-220 just barely gets him there.

I just don’t think there is any way Ballard drafts Young. It would go against everything he has done up to this point. I’m strictly basing this on his size and Ballard loves big athletes. He said he prioritizes accuracy which tells me the Colts are deciding between Stroud and Levis.

With offenses majority in shotgun, height really doesn't matter. Getting over 200 pounds was the most important thing. If he can get to 210 by his pro day, he's a lock for the first pick imo

U have to remember this is fake weight. He will fall back to his normal weight as the season and that could be 185-190. Who knows but he is small. I don't think he is a Ballard pick at all.  I   think the GMs are looking st this draft as kind of underwhelming and I think 3 years from now, we won't see a lot of all pro caliber players.
