Tbf, people say that a lot...people didn’t think Allen, Mahomes, or Hurts would be as good as they are...Hell, there were lots of people doubting Burrow before Cincy took him. Point is, you never know until you see them play. Fingers crossed we get a QB of that caliber in April

I'm not counting out nothing. In my 50+ years of being a NFL fan I have learned there are surprises every season.

Saw a report somewhere last night saying one of the 2 teams that has contacted the Bears for #1 overall was the Titans, picking at #11.  That'd be a kick in the nards if Titans and Texans grab QBs at #1 and #2.   Could just be a strategic move to drive the price up and/or make Houston and Indy antsy to part with draft capital.

I'm still hoping they sign Garropolo and move back and draft Richardson.

I would love trading back a few times, acquiring a few extra 2024 1st round picks, and still landing Richardson. Then if Richardson doesn't show progress to being a good starting NFL QB, you have multiple 1st round picks in the 2024 draft to try and acquire Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

No trade backs unless the Colts simply don’t want what’s left of the QBs at pick 4. They aren’t in a position to get cute with moving around in the draft. If your guy is there at 4, take him. Because if you don’t and some other team leaps in front, it’s another year at the used QB shop. So if they like Richardson and think he’s their future, take him at 4 and don’t look back.

You mean shouldn’t settle at 4 if there is one they must have?

I don’t care if the Colts need to trade up to pick # 1 to get their guy. They shouldn’t get their guy and should settle for pick # 4.

"You mean shouldn’t settle at 4 if there is one they must have?"

No--the opposite. There isn't one we must have, so we should settle at # 4.

We don’t know what there thinking is it if they will have one they must have. If we trade up I think we will then know they feel one separated themselves from the others. If they stay at four that means they felt all of them are on the same level.

Bears first overall pick.

“According to the latest NFL draft odds, the Chicago Bears will likely trade the number one overall pick. Sportsbooks give the Bears a whopping 73% chance they move out of the number one spot in the 2023 draft.

Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer recently said he believes the Bears will move forward with Justin Fields as their quarterback unless they are absolutely blown away by one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.”

It was reported recently they are keeping Fields and will try to trade 1st pick

I would be happy signing Carr trading back and drafting Richardson, Hooker or McKee.

I agree but also think you MAY have to take Richardson earlier than expected to get him

I don’t want to sit and watch a retread. Whoever we take needs to play and grow with the offense. It does nothing to sit them. It’s not fair to players for them to learn two new QB in two years again either. Starting a retread isn’t going yo get us anywhere. We need that young QB to grow and learn with his young playmakers.

That's why someone like Callahan or Steichen are vital to someone like Richardson

I hear what you are saying but it IMHO. It depends what QB you end up with

Richardson would be trashed if he started game 1 …..  he is a perfect level to hold a clipboard. He needs the practice to mentally prepare for the NFL.  Too early game time could literally ruin the kid

With Stroud or Young they will be close enough to throw them in the game day 1.  They WILL probably SUCkETH.  But you sort of expect it.  Hope that they will keep improving and be ready to take Colts to playoffs in 2024.

Then I don’t want him. From what I have read from people that do film study he isn’t as much of a project as people think.  Because of his running ability he has a lower floor while his passing game gets there.

Hey all. Peyton threw 20-somethin picks and we went 3-13 HIS rookie year.

And that was on a team that had bookend tackles, marshal Faulk and marvin harrison. WhoEVER we pick, it could be a rough year.

If we get Steichen or Callahan then yes get AR15 or Levis but if it's like Morris then get Stroud or Young

Respectfully, I guess I am more patient and being an old dude, I have seen a lot of football come and go

Manning was bad year 1

Mahomes sat most of year 1

Josh Allen completed 52% and threw more INTs than TDS year 1

Brady didn’t start year 1

Hurts completed 52% Year 1

A Rogers sat for 2 years behind Farve

I am looking for long term success.   History shows us that year 1    for even the top players almost always is not good

For me….   There isn’t a single QB in this class that I would want to start wk1 of their rookie year.   Not one.

I don’t want the QB to start until maybe the halfway point of the season, or later.  Roughly week 9-13.    Give them a chance to watch and learn and get practice time.

As you have demonstrated, most players need time.  They’re not ready to play wk1.

Guys like Luck are the exception to the rule.
